One group I have always enjoyed listening to is Blink 182. They’re a punk rock group that was a huge hit for many years, until the band broke up. One of their earlier albums Take off Your Pants and Jacket showed a pranksterish side to the band, but they also have a more serious side seen in many of their songs. One song Adam’s Song shows Adams sadness over a broken heart. It shows how he doesn’t want to live any longer without the girl he loves. It also talks about how he is really depressed, and that he just wants to get over the pain of his ex. Blink 182 is like a lot of typical punk bands, singing about girlfriends and parties. One group that they are a lot like is Good Charlotte. They both have the punk sound to them, and both also have various songs about their break ups with significant others. Another band that they’re a lot like is Green Day, but they don’t normally sing about ex’s. Green Day likes to sing about fun times with the band, and different experiences that they’ve went through. In Adam’s Song the very first line “I never thought I’d die alone, I laughed the loudest who’d of known” tell a lot about the song. It tells about a guy that is alone and didn’t expect this to happen how it did, or when it did. I think it is memorable because almost everyone at one point in time has felt those feelings of heartbreak, where you don’t know what to do accept to move on. I would have to agree with critics when they say that over the years this band still has left a huge mark on the music industry. They came with one of the first punk groups that went big, talked about pranks, fun times, women, and just life in general. I feel that overall Blink 182 is worth the money and time taken to listen to them, and to see who they are. They’ll always stand as my favorite punk group.
