The movie starts of with Ray Kinsella in his corn field. He was walking around and he hears this voice that says “if you build it he will come.” Later on he freaks out and sees a reflection of a baseball field in the distance part of his corn field and then a ghost figure who was his favorite baseball player shoeless Joe Jackson. He makes the field and Joe shows up along with a bunch of his teammates.
After that he hears the voice again saying “ease his pain” which has to do with a author names Mann. He wrote a book when he was a kid about how he wanted to play at dodger stadium or ebbets field. Ray goes to visit him in Boston and they go to a Red sox’s game and on the megatron there is a picture of moonlight graham. Then he hears the voice saying “go the distance.” Then he goes on a journey to Minnesota to find Moonlight.
The lead actor is Kevin Costner, His wife Annie is played by Amy Madigan, His daughter is Gaby Hoffman, Ray Liotta plays shoeless Joe Jackson, James Earl Jones plays Terrence Mann.
Kevin Costner was inspired by his dad in the film and how he doesn’t want to end up regretting his life.
Roger Ebbert says “As "Field of Dreams" developed this fantasy, I found myself being willingly drawn into it. Movies are often so timid these days, so afraid to take flights of the imagination, that there is something grand and brave about a movie where a voice tells a farmer to build a baseball diamond so that Shoeless Joe Jackson can materialize out of the cornfield and hit a few fly balls.” I would have to agree with him I like how they took a leap of faith and wanted to give watchers an imagination.
This movie is defiantly worth the movie. Its one of the greatest sports movies of all times and if you haven’t seen it you must see it!
