Another artist who has been making headlines lately is Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga went from performing in gay bars singing and playing the piano, to singing on stage in eye popping outfits. Lady Gaga seem to arrive an already formed performer who refused to wear pants. Her first song that really bought her to everyone’s attention was “Just Dance” which debut in April 2008. By the end of the year “Just Dance” was being played in every dance club. “Just Dance” is a great song to dance to because of its fast beat and the lyrics, which have to do with dancing. Most of Gaga’s songs have a fast beat to them and either makes you want to break out dancing or singing, or maybe both. Gaga’s songs aren’t meant to be serious. They are meant to be fun and something to dance not evoke some deep thought or make you sad. Before there was Lady Gaga, there was Madonna, a powerful woman who took control of her life and her music. When she first came out, she was the only female pop star to have complete control over her image and her music, which she used to her advantage. Madonna rose to stardom with her music and sexuality, which coincidently was how Lady Gaga also came to stardom. When Lady Gaga came she was wearing nothing but a skimpy outfit which now seem to be the norm for her. That’s one thing that Madonna and Lady Gaga have in common, skimpy outfits. With Lady Gaga it’s shinny bikinis and with Madonna it is colorful one-piece dance outfit. When it comes to their music that’s where they differ. While Madonna’s music is strictly pop, Lady Gaga’s is hip-hop, and pop. One of the things that Lady Gaga is known for is her lack of clothing choices. When asked why she didn’t wear pants, Lady Gaga responded by saying “I feel freer in underwear, and I XXX hate pants.” That’s Lady Gaga, never knowing what she’s going to say next, and that’s what her image really is. Being outrageous and unpredictable.
