13 Going On 30 is an amusing and enjoyable movie that people of all ages love. At the beginning Jenna, the main character, is your typical thirteen year old girl who wants to fit in with the “popular clique” and wishes she would just grow up already. When Jenna invites the clique, the SixChicks, over for her thirteenth birthday, the clique plays a mean trick on Jenna and she ends up turning her back on her best friend Matt. Jenna gets very upset and bolts into the closet where she makes a wish that she was “thirty, flirting, and thriving.” The next morning Jenna wakes up as a thirty year old to a naked man, closet full of fashion and shoes, and has a high quality job as an editor at her favorite fashion magazine. Jenna eventually realizes her childhood mistakes made her a stuck-up person who treats people very impolitely. Jenna goes through the movie trying to undo her childhood mistakes, by doing this Jenna also falls in love with her childhood best friend, Matt. Throughout the movie you see Jenna slowly try to undo her childhood mistakes and become a beautiful, loving thirty year old. At the end, Jenna does something that makes it obvious she’s changed for the better. Jennifer Garner plays the role of Jenna Link when she’s thirty; she’s perfect for this part because she’s so bubbly and has a very fun personality that everyone loves. Mark Ruffalo plays Matt, Jenna’s best friend, who is calm and collected man, Mark portrays his character just right. Judy Greer plays Lucy, Jenna’s stuck-up childhood friend; she is a small blonde girl and symbolizes the character she plays because she represents the typical stuck up mean girl, in the movie she even turns her back on her so-called-best-friend Jenna. There is one main theme throughout the movie and that is to don’t wish you could be older, appreciate what you have, and cherish every moment. Karina Montgomery, from killermovies.com, says “It's a fluffy movie with a surprising number of rewarding layers, if you are willing to give it a chance.” I couldn’t agree more with this statement, I gave it a chance and it’s now one of my favorite movies. Overall, 13 Going On 30 is a pleasurable, loving movie that is most definitely worth your time and money. So take a chance and you will have a rewarding surprise!
