So basically the movie “Matilda” is a character driven movie about a 6 year old girl living in a family where no one appreciates her. As Matilda grows, she has to raise and maintain her life on her own. Her dad “Danny Devito” is a rude and inconsiderate car sells man who cons people with unstable cars. Matilda’s mom is a bingo player who spends all her dads’ money and her brother just goes to school but follows his dads business. The whole family together except Matilda supports the arrogant father on his career. But in order for Matilda to get into school, her dad had to make a conning car deal with the horrific principle. The principle has a strict spiteful spirit against small children, to torture them for her on amusement. But what everyone didn’t know was that Matilda had a hidden secret that specially made her unique. She had powers, which she used as revenge towards her family and principle. Her unique gift was used for good purposes and the bad. Matilda’s sweet teacher Ms. Honey was the only soul who truly cared for her. Matilda’s best friend Lavender supports her on her tricks and spells as well too. In my opinion, I believe every characters performance is very intriguing and funny to the audience. Each person brings an element to the story that completes the movie in a great way. The critics compared to my opinions connect well to how Truchbull “the principle” handles her school. They explain how she’s an evil aunt to her niece Ms. Honey and how the karma plays a roll on her life when Matilda comes around. Overall this film is very rewarding, being in box office for 36 million in 1996. It brings laughter to everyone as this family film stays rememberable to its audience and critics. Matilda is definitely worth our time and money because the movie can connect with many lives.
