The type of music I am going to classify is pop and R&B. The song I chose “Is Just a Dream by Nelly. The emotion that is being evoked is sadness. Nelly loves this girl and wishes they could be together, but then he starts dating her. He is really happy until he finds out that it was just a dream. When I hear the song it calms and every word song can be applied to a particular part of my life. Whether it is happy or sad, I can always find a way to relate to this song. Also, it’s ‘my favorite choice to listen to sometimes your mind relaxes and you start thinking about how the song relates to your life. Some people sing to express this, others may even close their eyes and imagine it. Another song I chose is “How to Love” by Lil Wayne. The song shares a story about a girl at a bar who is a stripper but doesn’t want to be and Wayne basically is pointing out how he’s loved her since she was young. He believes that she can do much better with her life. The song I’m contrasting and comparing is well known singers like Justin Bebier.

Fleet Foxes are considered a folk punk band that represents artists of the 60s such as Bob Dylan and The Zombies. Most of the Fleet Foxes songs are very peaceful and easy to listen to. The Fleet Foxes’ musical style can be compared to that of Mumford & Sons and Le Loup. Other critics have said that their song “White Winter Hymnal” is so far their best song from their album self titled album “Fleet Foxes.” I agree with this statement because the Fleet Foxes’ other songs are pretty good but this song is my favorite from this album. You might not like the other songs from their older albums but if you like peaceful music full of harmonies than you will like “White Winter Hymnal.”

I completely agree with Brandon’s belief; AC/DC is one of the best Rock ‘n’ Roll bands ever formed. Even the tragic loss of their main singer wasn’t able to slow these gods down. If you need a band that will get a party started or fill a room with energy, just play any of AC/DC’s songs. They will get the job done. I agree that “Thunderstruck” is their most energizing song. Once the incredible speed of the intro guitar rift starts, you just want to stand up and rock. The true brilliance of this song lies in the simple drum beat that sort of sounds like a beating heart, adding a lifelike feel to the song.
Bands like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and Van Halen are similar to AC/DC. They all are relatively from the same time period and have a similar sound. I would definitely recommend these bands to anyone who likes AC/DC. Led Zeppelin is the only band of these three that is slightly different. Their songs cover a large spectrum of speeds but they rarely play extremely fast. Aerosmith and Van Halen on the other hand are known for their insane guitar riffs and speedier songs. All four of these bands deserve to be listened to. This is clear because all four have been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

Taylor Gang or Die is definitely Wiz Khalifa’s famous saying. Whenever someone hears this saying Wiz Khalifa definitely pops in mind. I agree that Wiz Khalifa is one of hip-hops rising stars at the moment and is making his way to the top! He has a well range of music that talk about many different times in his life. My personal favorite song is “This Plane” because it has a great beat and amazing lyrics! I also love the song “Roll Up” because it shows his more sensitive side which I think is an important side we usually don’t see in all hip-hop artists. I agree that Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller have a lot of the same points and talk about personal things they have been through, but their sounds are quite a bit different. If you like Wiz Khalifa’s music I think you would also like some other styles of music that have more personalized lyrics such as rock or country. I agree that many critics are definitely naming Wiz Khalifa one of the new top hip-hop artists as he continues to grow! I also agree that he deserves it, he is an artist that has worked very hard for what he has now and it wasn’t an easy road as it was for some other artists who were born into fame. Wiz Khalifa is definitely someone I would spend money and time to go see and support.

I am responding to will Davis’s blog about Jason Aldean. I do believe that Jason is one of the best country singers out there as well. In the blog will talks about one of his new songs which is called “dirt road anthem”. Will says that it is a relaxing song that describes his life in the area that Jason Aldean lived in. I strongly agree with everything that will have said. The funny thing is, me and will hangout almost every weekend, and listen to country and kick back and relax as Jason Aldeans song explains. Also will talks about song lyrics that say “im hitting easy street and mud tires”. This phrase talks about getting a little mud on the tires. This is also what me and will do when we are together. Frequently on weekends I take my big ol jacked up Chevy wheeling through ponds, and mud trails. The last thing will talks about which is my favorite thing is that he talks about how this is not a love song like most country songs. I really like this song for that reason. Overall my opinion is totally with will and I also have a loving passion for good ol country tunes. Love Mike

My response to Mr. Mike is, that I don’t think Darius Rucker is not all that great. In my opinion he is horrible. Most of his songs are not about having a fun life or girls, they are about being a player and drinking lots of beer. I heard that he don’t even write his own music, that he pays people to write them for him! His song “don’t think about it” is just depressing. If I wanted to listen to someone’s sob story I would go on face book. The same goes with the rest of his music. Its just depressing! Especially his song “alright”, is definitely not alright. He totally contradicts all his music. One song is about how his “gal” leaves him, now he’s saying he has a pretty girl in his bed. Everybody knows he is a very well off person financially. He is a very well known country singer ill give him that, with that being said I think he will be alright, all the time. I really don’t need to hear how much better his life is then mine, even though his previous songs say his life sucks. I think he needs to be one way or the other, because he is making a bipolar music album. Mike also said that he has a natural voice, I have seen some of his live performances on you tube, and I am not all that impressed. His voice sounds like every other country singer trying to sing while getting punched in the neck. If I had the computer software I could make Karl from Sling Blade sound like Justin Beiber. In all honesty, I would not spend a dime on his music, or even throw one at him when he’s sitting on the sidewalk begging for change, when people realize that he is not all that great like I do. I’m sure he is a great guy, but a country singer? I think not..

I do agree with Kayla when she says Katy Perry is one of the most well-known artists out there. Katy Perry is a pop star, and one of the best pop starts in my opinion. In almost all of her songs she sings about positive thing and mostly about having a good time. There are many artist that have music like Katy Perry but the artist I think Katy Perry Is most like is Ke$ha. Ke$ha’s song “Tick Tock” sounds similar to Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night.” These songs are both about parting but Ke$ha’s song is about the next morning after a party, and Katy Perry is about a party she’s at and how fun she’s having. Some critics like her and some don’t, i have to agree with the ones who like her. I would say that Katy Perry is worth your time and money because her music is energetic that It will make you want to get up and dance. In my opinion she is one of the best pop artist there is. She defiantly has some music that should be played at parties.

Christina B’s second blog about Andy Grammer really caught my eye. I recently heard his hit single “Keep Your Head Up,” and I loved it. This song just puts me in a better mood and makes me realize that no matter what, I should keep my head up. Most of his music is upbeat, that anyone can sing along too. Andy Grammer honestly reminds me of Jason Mraz. Both of these artists end up writing songs that most people can relate too in their lives. They are both pretty popular artists that critics rave about. Andy Grammer is now becoming more popular than Jason Mraz because of how strong of a writer he really is. Many music critics figured that Andy Grammer would be one of those artists that release only one really good song that is popular for only a little bit, but he ended up coming out with a whole album! Andy Grammer is a truly talented singer / song writer. I believe that he will continue to remain a popular artist releasing brand new songs often. I encourage you to take a minute of your time to check out his music, you won’t regret it!

I completely agree with Christina’s response about The Script. They are definitely a group of talented young Irish men who are becoming more popular every single day. I first surprisingly heard about this band from my mom. She had found them off of a website before they were even big and we both fell in love with their music. I also believe that their tone alternates throughout each song. One song can make you feel upbeat and happy, while the other may make you feel depressed and gloomy. I think it shows a great deal of talent when bands are able to give their listeners a vast deal of emotions. One song that is one of my favorites by The Script is “Nothing”. It’s about a guy who is heartbroken because his girlfriend broke up with him. His friends try and make him feel better by having him go out with them. Instead he tries to call her when he’s drunk but she says nothing. In the end of the song he is still left heartbroken with nothing. This song is very relatable to everyone because every single person will end up heartbroken sometime throughout their life. I believe that’s why so many people love this band because they write about things that anyone can relate to because of experiences they have gone through. I would recommend this band to anyone; you will be blown away if you give them a chance.

I definitely agree with Johnny on this one. Mumford & Sons is a great retreat from all things auto tuned and super bassed. Their rough and honest sound is something that we don’t see in a lot of in popular music today. Another band who has a similar sound is the Avett Brothers. They hold true to the same sort of folk roots and ability to harmonize beautifully (you may remember the Avett Brothers from their performance alongside Mumford & Sons and Bob Dylan at the Grammy Awards this past year). One of my favorite Mumford & Sons songs is “Timshel.” It carries a melancholy melody but possesses a hopeful message. In it, Marcus Mumford, the lead singer, depicts situations such as a man on his deathbed and a struggling single mother, but the chorus is all about how they are not alone in their tough times. There is always someone to commiserate with and someone to hold your hand through it all. Another message that I appreciate it sends is that your struggles don’t make you any less of a person; “it will steal your innocence, but it will not steal your substance”. I truly believe that Mumford & Sons has a lot to offer the music industry and it will be fun to hear their next album.

Wale (wah-lay) is considered an uprising hip-hop rap artist. Wale’s music is considered to be real, down to Earth; overall it should give you just a chill feeling. People listen to Wale’s album expecting to either get hyped up or to just relax and chill because he’s the type of artist who can make you feel both emotions. Wale’s charisma changes people outlook on him. Rather than having a hardcore gangster appearance like, The Game, he brings a happy lively personality. Rather than rapping about drugs, money, or woman he expresses his life and all the obstacles that crossed his path.
One song that I particularly think is a memorable song is called “The Break up Song” and this song explains how this guy is in love with this girl and how he feels like anything possible. It’s a song many people would love because it describes the heartbreak and how a person can easily fall for another person. Another memorable song is called “Letter” because it speaks from his heart. Also from the things he’s seen, heard and experienced in his life. He’s incorporated poetry, rap and soul all in one.
I agree with what most of the critics say about Wale because in my opinion I think he’s a great artist who deserves what’s coming to him. I don’t think he’s the best artist out there but he’s worked hard in life to get where he is and I think he should have what he’s earned. I would use my time to go to his concerts because I think they’re worth it. He’s lively in concert and knows how to put on a good show.

I would have to agree with Abby. Kenny Chesney is a great country artist and is definitely worth the time and money. I got the firsthand experience to see Kenny Chesney perform since I went to a concert last spring. He was a phenomenal performer who kept us till midnight with songs and videos. He is a singer that can make any girl melt with his soothing voice and cute lyrics. He has a variety of music and can capture any mood. The critics Abby talked about are all right. He really is a great singer and I don’t think there is really anything bad to say about him. I also love the song “There Goes My Life”, it has real emotion and can really relate to many people. Not necessarily people getting pregnant, but just mistakes made in life and how sometimes bad things can happen and you can find something good out of it. I think it is really cool that he played in the NFL. He wrote a song “Boys of Fall”, it has a really good music video and I really enjoy it. It is perfect for the football season and I can’t get enough of it. So I completely agree with Abby saying that Kenny Chesney is a great singer and songwriter.

Another one of my favorite artists is Britney Spears. She is in the pop section for music but the main reason why I love her song is because they are fun up beat and make you want to party sometimes. But even though she had a melt down and shaved her head and wore a bright pink wig and talked in a British accent and people said that she was crazy I was still a big fan and watching her go throw with everyone talking bad about her including her own family. It just made me think wow this is what fame can do to a person who has been famous her whole life since she was like five or six. So I don’t blame her for going throw that I give her some credit for it not being a lot more craziness. But don’t get me wrong because I also do love her songs like someday. And I think it means that even when you go throw a thought time that you can all ways get throw it you just got to give it time and in the end you’re going to see the bigger picture that god was trying to show you it’s just sometimes you have to go throw some crazy moment to get there and if you can’t see it maybe when you have a kid then you will be able to see the picture.
Nothing seems to be the way
That it used to
Everything seems shallow
God give me truth
In me
And tell me somebody is watching
Over me
And that is all I'm praying is that
Someday I will understand
In God's whole plan
And what he's done to me
Oh but maybe
Someday I will breathe
And I'll finally see
I'll see it all in my baby
Nothing seems to be the way
That it used to
Everything seems shallow
God give me truth
In me
And tell me somebody is watching
Over me
And that is all I'm praying is that

A music group that I like is Skillet. The type of music that they are is classic rock. To me the feelings that I get depend on which of their songs that I at listening to at the time. Such as when I am listening to their song “Monster” I get kind of energetic when I listen to it. But when I listen to one of their others songs called “Comatose” I start to feel relaxed when I listen to it. The sounds from skillet are different because they are a rock group with music that is not too loud. Unlike some of the other rock type bands that are out there. My two favorite songs that are from Skillet are “Monster” and “Comatose” because they are the only songs that I know that is from them. Also I enjoy the lyrics and the sounds of the songs. I disagree with a critic that says that they do not have brutal lyrics. I believe that they have good lyrics for their songs. I believe it is worth the time to listen to their music. So it would not be a waste of money to buy their music. That is because I enjoy listening to them when I get the chance to listen to their music.

Like Abby, I too love country music. It is my favorite genre and I also love Kenny Chesney as an artist. Rascal Flatts would still have to be my ultimate favorite though, but like Kenny Chesney they have also won multiple awards for their lyrics. I would have to agree with Abby that Kenny Chesney deserves all that he has received. I would defiantly put forth some time to listen to Chesney if you haven’t yet. Like Abby, when I think of Kenny Chesney I automatically think of his song “There Goes my Life”. This song is just so relatable to people. He sings about his high school sweetheart and how she gets pregnant, and they are later married and he loves his daughter more than anything in the world. Chesney is also amazing because he writes his own lyrics and Abby and I both this that is awesome, because many artists these days sing from other artists lyrics. Abby and I both respect Kenny Chesney because most of his songs are about being happy and just living your life, and honestly who wouldn’t want to listen to lyrics with that kind of message. These days, artists sing about just about everything, and Chesney’s stand out to us. So, I’d say, take the time to listen if you haven’t yet, you won’t be disappointed.

In Lauren’s first blog post about Nicki Minaj I am definitely going to have to agree that rap influences both men and women. You don’t hear about or see many female rap or hip-hop artists, which is what makes Nicki Minaj different and stand out in the rap world. I also agree that some of her songs are fun and upbeat but Nicki Minaj also has a softer and mellower side. The song “Roman’s Revenge” portrays her upbeat and crazy side, while the song “Dear Old Nicki” is deeper in the lyrics and has a softer tone to it. I think that Trina is an artist that is most like Nicki Minaj because they both have the same writing styles and are on many tracks together. Trina is also another female hip-hop artist. But I think that Lauren was correct in saying she’s a lot like Rihanna because in her album Pink Friday she sings a lot more than raps and her and Rihanna have a similar style and sound. I agree with Lauren when she talks about the song “Moment for Life” being memorable. The line “I believe that life is a prize, but to live doesn't mean you're alive” sticks out to me because it’s saying live life to the fullest because you only get one chance. Also in the song “Moment for Life” the line, “Cause I’m still hood Hollywood couldn’t change me, shout out to my haters, sorry that you couldn’t phase me” shows that Nicki Minaj is a strong women and doesn’t let people influence her outtake on life . “Nicki Minaj has very quickly made a name for herself as a killer lyricist and a dynamic rhymer with as unique a style as we've seen in the rap world” Critic Kyle Anderson said this and I agree because her career has taken off quickly. I agree with Lauren when she says that she would suggest Nicki Minaj as an artist and I would definitely pay to see her live.

Jason Aldean is one of my favorite artists too. I agree about what his song “Dirt Road” portrays, and how it is very relaxing and how it’s kind of rock but still country at the same time. I also can agree with the critics saying that he will be a new face for country music because I am a fan of his and wasn’t too much aware of him and his songs until not too long ago when some of his hit songs came out. As soon as his songs were “hit songs”, I was able to recognize him and his songs. Jason Aldean is all over the country stations like you said, and if you hear his songs you will recognize him right away like I did. I think not only are his songs about real life but I think that just about anyone could relate to them. Like you said, “It’s not a run of the mill cookie cutter country songs about broken hearts”, and that is true because his songs are more of a modern country where a lot of people can relate to his songs. If you like Jason Aldean, then you may like Kenny Chesney because they are a lot alike and sing about the same kinds of things like you said most country singers do, but in a little bit different way. Jason Aldean is definitely on my iPod and was and is worth your time and money like you said.

The blog I really enjoyed reading was Jordyn Petersons blog. I think Mac Miller is a great artist. I have a lot of his songs and a few are called “the spins”, and “Donald Trump”. I like these songs not because they explain me or represent me, there just two of the many songs from him that make sense. If you compare it to Eminem (Marshall Mathers) or Lil Wayne, they have good songs too, but some of them just don’t really make sense and there just throwing a bunch of stuff together just to make a record. “The spins” and “Donald Trump” I like because there really relaxing and just calm me down and it is just really relaxing. The emotions that come out of his songs are him explaining “the spins” he’s getting. The song Donald Trump is talking about Donald Trump and how Mac Miller thinks he’s a like because they’re both rich and making money but also kind of making fun of him on top of it.

For an artist like Adele she has been very successful for a new rising artist in the music industry. Her jazz blues feel to the music she creates has an interesting flow bringing something new to the table of which people have obviously have loved already her being a Grammy award winner for her music. Her music provokes a feeling like no other such as love mixed with jealousy and a wanting mood. I would have to say that even though she does sing about the problems that people have such as relationships she also writes lyrics that talk about getting over it and moving on. But I do have to disagree with Adel’s voice being smooth; since she has been smoking I think her voice is slightly raspier. That is the only reason she cancelled all her tours, is because she does not stop smoking so I would have to say that she better stop soon unless she wants her career down the drain along with all the washed up artist who dealt with the same dilemma. Once she gets past the little problem of her smoking I think she could go far with her music and once again keep all her tours and become a very good singer and song writer. If a rainy day comes your way Adele is something you will want to take a listen to.

Katy Perry is also one of my favorite artists. I agree that she has a wide range of music, from upbeat pop songs to slower heartbreak songs. She is very inspirational to young women while she is stepping out of the box being her crazy self. Other artists that you might enjoy would be Rhianna and Lady Gaga. They both show extreme girl power and they are not afraid to be their own person. “Last Friday Night” is also one of my favorite songs from her. It gets everyone in a good mood singing along with the song. Her clothing style is really unique, she is not afraid to do anything! She has set the trends for today. From having blue hair to dressing up like a Christmas tree, she does what she wants. I also heard about this “scandal”. Her outfit was a little racy for children’s tv but she is human and she makes mistakes. Also if her outfit was too revealing there should have been producers speaking up and telling her that her outfit was not okay. Overall I love Katy Perry as an artists. She is an amazing singer and has a wide range of songs that people can’t help but sing along with.

Ryan H’s second music blog was about the Beastie Boys, a punk/rap group. Ryan mainly wrote about their song “Sabotage,” and he also played this song in class for our multimedia power point assignment. When I first heard this song, I liked it because it was different and it sounded cool. I don’t usually like to listen to music, but I guess if I heard this on the radio I wouldn’t turn it off. In his blog post, Ryan stated that Rolling Stone named “Sabotage” as the 475th greatest song of all time. Who are they to say what the “greatest songs of all time” are? People can like different types of music, so obviously Rolling Stone can’t take into account everyone’s opinions about the song and therefore can’t decide what songs are the “greatest songs of all time.” In his blog post, Ryan also mentioned that the music video for “Sabotage” isn’t as intense as the song sounds, and that they’re making fun of old time cop shows in the video. This makes me like the group a bit more because any group that can be silly and have fun with something like a music video is alright with me. Although I kind of liked the song “Sabotage” when Ryan played it in class, I don’t think I’ll be listening to any other Beastie Boys songs any time soon. I don’t own an ipod so I don’t really have a means of listening to songs whenever I want to, and I’m too lazy to go look it up on youtube.

Taylor Gang! I do agree with Brandon in him saying “one of the best in the hip-hop industry”. Wiz Khalifa has had numerous songs on top of the music charts! With the song “Roll Up” I believe that Brandon was right, how Wiz has feelings for this girl and tries anything to get to her. Also he is respectful to the girls “boyfriend” mentioned in the song. Wiz isn’t your typical “rapper”, yes he sings about drugs alcohol and partying but he also raps about the struggles to the top and how he had a hard life and grew up from nothing. The song “Rooftops” illustrates this.
“Sayin boy they used to be at the bottom
Came up thats what they say
Used to not be allowed in the building
But now we on the roof top’”
I don’t know if I would say I would relate Wiz Khalifa to Mac Miller because their ways of vocalizing their feels are different. I would more related his feelings and emotions and songs almost more to country… With his lyrics and ways of partying are portrayed a lot in country music.

Taylor Swift is considered a pop-country star. Her songs are mainly about her life and what she’s gone through. All her songs usually send some type of message about love or life. When I usually listen to her music I become happier and have a live-life feeling because the songs give an eccentric feeling. Taylor swift isn’t like most country singers because she brings the whole “pop star” into category. Compared to Rascal Flats whom mainly do country, she mixes it up with her pop-star attitude.
Taylor Swifts song, “Mean,” is a memorable song because many people can relate to the bad relationships they’ve had which is what the song mainly talks about. Her songs help people cope with their feelings and uplift them emotionally. I would buy her albums because I don’t believe that they’re a waste of time and I would enjoy listening to it to pass time.

Jason Aldean is one of my favorite singers. He is a country music singer who was a nominee for male country musician of the year in 2010 and 2011. His song “dirt road anthem” is about relaxing and driving down a dirt road. He explains the joys and freedoms of driving a truck and hanging out with friends in his town. I really enjoy country music, especially by Jason Aldean. Once again this song has the feel of all other country songs and it follows the same outline. Most country music covers the same topics but in different ways “dirt road anthem” is a faster paced country song as opposed to the slow classic country. It is about simple living and all you need is a truck some friends and a dirt road to have a good time. In the song he says “I’m hitting easy street on mud tires” which just goes to show how simple life can be for you to be happy. The critics think he will be the new face for country music and he is taking it in a new direction. People have responded quite well to him. It seems every time I turn on the radio in my truck it’s one of Jason’s songs, I can’t hate that. I love driving down the road listing to his music, it is relaxing and it makes me proud to be an American. I obviously enjoy his music and I own his album My Kinda Party. Jason’s music is definitely worth checking out, even if you’re not a country music fan you will like it. His lyrics are easy to follow and relate to. Like I said above its not a run of the mill cookie cutter country songs about broken hearts, its upbeat and relaxing with a different twang. You don’t have to worry about going out of your way to purchase it either because his songs are played religiously on the local country stations.

Mac Miller is also one of my favorite artists because of his inspiring success at the age of 19. He graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh, which Wiz Khalifa also attended. Mac Miller’s music is mainly about his dreams of making it big. He just likes to make positive music that everyone enjoys. His music video on YouTube called, “Donald Trump,” had over 22 million views. He just released his brand new album called, “Blue Side Park,” on November 8. Mac Miller believes that the best part about making music is rocking the crowd. He likes to hold the microphone out, and let the crowd sing along during his performances. Mac Miller loves to know that people listen to his music to cheer themselves up on a bad day. He wants his fans to enjoy his music because it's what makes it all worth it for him. Mac Miller’s music is most definitely one of a kind.

My all-time favorite artist would most definitely be Jason Derulo. Jason is a twenty-two year old solo pop artist from Miami, Florida, who has already released more than three multimillion dollar singles. According to his producers, Beluga Heights / Warner Brothers, there is a lot more to Jason Derulo then a young artist with three Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hits. His music is very upbeat, and gets my complete attention everytime. I’m always caught jamming out to his much because I just love it so much! Jason said that it truly all started out with a dream, and without us, it wouldn’t have came true. When he was 16 years old, he had written songs for Danity Kane, Little Wayne, and Sean Kingston. This past May, he received the 2011 BMI songwriter of the year award. He just released his new album called, “Future History,” which is about where he started, and where he is going. Jason’s genre is mainly pop, rock, electronic, and R&B. My favorite song by Jason Derulo would absolutely be “It Girl,” which is on his brand new album. I would just have to say that Jason Derulo is an amazing artist overall, and he has a lot going for him.

A music artist that I like is Utada Hikaru. She is a pop artist. The feeling that I feel when I listen is that it is soothing and relaxing to listen to. She sounds different because she is a Japanese artist. I do not agree that her last album was a disappointment in the west. It sounds just as good as the others. I personally think that it is worth time and money because I like the artist.

Her nickname is “QueenB”, and sings pop/R&B. When I think of love songs, I immediately think of Beyoncé. When Beyoncé is singing about love, men, and life, she brings out the realness in love and how she feels about it. I like her songs because I agree with what her songs say and I love the enthusiasm she has when she sings any of her songs. Beyoncé sings a lot of songs with other singers, such as Drake. Beyoncé and Drake sing love songs together and them singing fit well because they sing about the same types of things and feel the same way about it. A lot of singers sing about life, but a country singer wouldn’t have the same lifestyle as a pop singer would so therefore they couldn’t relate with the same feelings they have about life and how they experience it. A country person and a city girl would have a big difference on their perspectives. One song that stuck out at me would be “Run the World”. The song “is the expected shout-out to the independent women”, says the critics. I defiantly can agree with them because it is a shout-out the females because if you knew a little about Beyoncé you would know how she is all about independence. For an example of a love song she sings, would be “(1+1)”. The song lyrics say ''I don't know much about guns, but I, I've been shot by you”, talks about how her and this guy should be together and as if love has shot her. No matter what she sings or who she sings with or even what it’s about, I think Beyoncé does well on all of her songs. She’s always been on top as a great singer since she was with Destiny’s Child. If you bought any of Beyoncé’s albums, I promise you that you wouldn’t be let down. Beyoncé continues to surprise everyone and always has something that’s next. I know personally I have downloaded her songs, and I will continue to.

The Beastie Boys defined a generation of “lost cause” souls. People wrote of this punk group of scruffy guys since the beginning. The Beastie Boys weren’t properly recognized until they decided to transform into a punk/rap group. Under this new genre, the Boys controlled the radio waves with hits like “Fight for Your Right,” “Intergalactic,” and “Beastie Boys.” However, their most famous song by far is “Sabotage.” Nominated for four MTV music awards in 1994 and a Grammy in 1995, this song has a rebellious feel that takes control of your body. After listening to this song, you feel powerful and ready to take on any opposition. Sabotage has unforgettable instrumentals that are perfect for any rock song. However, the lyrics are what set this song apart. The Beastie Boys break off of the pure rock feel with a mixture of rock and rap vocals. The song is all about the title, Sabotage. The members sing about a sabotage plan that they know about. They can’t stand it and wish to stand up to sabotage but can be shut down at any moment, the reduction of the common voice. This song sounds rather intense but the music video is the total opposite. The Beastie Boys make fun of old time cop shows, showing that the Beastie Boys know how to have fun. As recognition of this, the Rolling Stone named “Sabotage” the 475th Greatest Songs of All Time.
The Beastie Boys have a unique feel that screams rebellion and the need to have some good old fun. This group is about having fun and being wacky. They have songs that appeal to lovers of rock, punk, hip hop, and almost any other genre of music. If I have failed to persuade you thus far, there are a couple bands that are quite similar to the Beastie Boys. The best example is Rage Against the Machine. Both band perfectly execute the mixture of rock instrumetals and rap lyrics.
I recently went out to the store and bought the Beastie Boys Anthology CD and let me just say that it was the best choice that I have made. Each song has a unique feel that is simply magnificent. I agree with the belief of almost every major music reviewer ever. Rolling Stone ranked the Beastie Boys 77th on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time and VH1 ranked them 89th on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. The Beastie Boys rightfully deserve their place in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

The singer that I picked is Eli young band . Young band is a newer up and coming country singer. So far he has not had that many songs but there is one song that is really popular. That song is called “crazy girl”. Like I said he is a country singer, but he is an all-around happy and sad emotional artist. Eli young is a great singer that I would say he is just as good as Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, and The Zach brown band. A phrase from the song crazy girl in the song young says “Crazy girl, don't you know that I love you? I wouldn't dream of going now here Silly woman come here let me hold you have I told you lately I love you like crazy, girl?” To me those lyrics mean a lot because I have been in a relationship before where the girl didn’t think I loved her and she wanted to split up. That song is his only single to make the radio and the top ten. On billboard.com they say” It's likely Eli Young Band could be the only new arrival in the top 10”. This means a lot for a newer artist to hear. I totally agree with that review. Eli young has been an inspiration to me and I’m sure to all of America and country fans. Eli young band has been in many country tours since the band was formed. Although there are many other country singers I would put the Eli young band in my top favorite. Is it worth our time and money you may ask. I definitely think that it is worth or time and money. The band that I did was the Eli young band and I think that they are one of the best names in country.

Mac Miller is a new artist; Miller sings rap and hip hop. Mac miller has a unique style that is positive and upbeat. The song “Another Night Alone” by Mac Miller is about a girl. This song is not a love song that gives you a depressed feeling. “Another Night Alone” is a song I enjoy because it is talking about hard times with a girl, but the lyrics are positive and say how he will get her back. Wiz Khalifa is another rap artist, he has similar music as Miller. Both Wiz and Mac Miller are popular rappers that have been new artists of the year.” I never thought life would be this sweet it got me cheesin' from cheek to cheek” is a quote of the song “Best Day Ever”. This is one of my favorite verses of any songs from Mac Miller. This lyric just gives you a good feeling. The song portrays a guy who looks at life as “The Best Day Ever”. These lyrics are a positive message. Mac Miller has mad mix tapes not only a CD. Many of the critics to Mac Miller say more about the loving fans of the artist then the songs he has. Most critics are positive and I agree with them. Mac Miller has come out with very fun and new songs many people enjoy. I would strongly suggest that everyone should take the time to listen to Miller’s songs. I think these songs are worth your time to check out. I would agree that you should spend your money on this artist. My reason is because Mac Miller has confident, positive, and catchy beats. This new artist has been a big hit to many teens, and young adults. I would suggest everyone to listen to Mac Miller.

Maroon 5 is a mix of pop and rock band that is comprised of five men, Matt Flynn, Mickey Madden, Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, and James Valentine. They have been together since 1994, originating in Los Angeles California. They have produced four albums Songs About Jane, Won't Be Soon Before Long, Call and Response: The Remix Album, and Hands All Over. Maroon 5 mainly produces songs about love and women. They range from slow powerful songs to upbeat dance songs. Maroon 5 is comparable to artists such as John Mayer and The Script. Coincidentally John Mayer attended college with Valentine at Berklee College of Music. They were close friends and worked on projects together. They all are good looking males that can sing with a lot of passion. Two of my favorite songs from Maroon 5 are “Sunday Morning” and “She Will Be Loved”. “Sunday Morning” is about a man and woman just getting out of the everyday routine being content just lying around being with each other. They are enjoying each other’s company and that is all they need to be happy. “She Will Be Loved” is about a man fighting for a woman. He will do anything to love her and be with her. He will go through the hardships to make her happy and love her. Both of these are two of their most famous songs. Maroon 5 has pleased the critics over the years. They have had some poplar albums and some not so popular albums but I like all their music they have produced as a band. They have created music that can be listened to in any situation or mood you are in. Overall I believe Maroon 5 is a great band with music that will please anyone. They are a band well worth your time spent listening to them and your money.

Trey Songz is a newly popular R&B artist that has made it big. To this day he has released four albums including I Gotta Make It, Trey day, Ready, and Passion, Pain and Pleasure. It has only been six years since his professional career has started and he has already made a huge impact on the musical industry. Songz’s music is typically categorized in the R&B genre, yet some of his songs have been considered rap. Many of his songs are about love and how he is able to treat a woman the right way. In his song “Can’t Help But Wait” the lyrics depict a scene in which Songz’s woman he is in love with is with another man that is not treating her as well as Songz could. Trey Songz is very relatable to other R&B artists such as Chris Brown and Usher. All three have the smooth voices that are pleasing to the ears. They sing a diverse range of songs, but they all most of the time involve a woman they love in their lyrics. Songz however stands out with his new name in the industry and ability to capture all audiences. “I Need A Girl” is one of Songz’s songs that really stands out to me. It is about how Songz is looking for a woman that he can share his life with. In the lyrics Songz describes how he is just looking for someone he can love and spend time with. He is able to meet all of her needs and treat her in the right way. On the other end of the spectrum his song “Say Ah” is another song that I can’t help but listen to. It is an upbeat pump up song that will get any party going. This song will put you in a great mood, ready to dance. I agree with many of the other critics that Trey Songz is believed to become one of the major artists in the music industry and his career is just starting. Personally I love Trey Songz and I believe is an amazing artist that I’m looking forward to hear more of. Trey Songz is an artist well worth your time and money. He is a force to be reckoned with and will provide very stiff competition to the other artists.

Katy Perry is one of the most well known new artists out there! The pop artist is well known for her crazy girl power style. Usually Katy Perry gives an outgoing crazy feel. Her songs usually are about good times she has gone through and just about good times. Katy Perry is a lot like other pop stars such as Ke$ha and Britney Spears. All three have the same type of feel for their music and also somewhat have the same personalities. They have not done any songs with each other, but I feel like if they did it would be a great combination. Ke$ha song “Blow” reminds me a lot of Katy Perry’s song “E.T.” They both have the same intense feel and same sound. One of my personal favorites by Katy Perry is “Last Friday Night T.G.I.F.” The song talks about a crazy Friday night she had! The reason I love this song so much is because it just puts in a great mood and makes you realize that having fun is a very important part of life. Another one of my favorites is “The One That Got Away” because it shows her more sensitive side and has a more emotional feel to it. It talks about one her ex-boyfriends after high school that she had strong feelings for and how she lost him. It’s a great song for anyone who has ever gone through a hard break up. Katy has her own very unique style, and when she starred on Sesame Street a few months ago many critics thought she was dressed too sexy for the show. In my opinion I thought she looked fine, I mean her shirt was a little low cut but nothing to major that would affect the kids. Katy just has her own crazy style that she is well known for. Katy Perry is an artist who has brought a unique style and music to Hollywood and deserves for every one of us to listen and enjoy her amazing music.

Justin Bieber’s album My World 2.0 features the same feel and basic concepts as everything he has previously recorded. This is kind of expected, however, because the album is a sequel to his earlier My World, which is made obvious by the titles. Justin Bieber’s ten songs on My World 2.0 are all co-written by him. It’s always a good thing when artists can write their own songs instead of using music someone else came up with. The album sold over 283,000 copies and landed in the number one spot on the U.S. Billboard 200. The album’s lead single, “Baby” tells about how Justin Bieber is chasing after a girl. The song is airy and features Ludacris rapping a verse, which sounds awkward in contrast with Bieber’s high voice, however most critics seem to think it was a good addition. Another song on the album, “U Smile,” is generally liked by the critics. Justin Bieber himself said that it was one of the best songs he has recorded. The song has been described as a pop-blue eyed soul ballad. Multiple music critics have noted that this song should appeal not only to Bieber’s usual twelve-year-old fans, but to some adults as well. The song landed at number twenty-seven on Billboard’s Hot 100, and sold 83,000 downloads in its first week. The pop/R&B son g “Never Let You Go” received less positive feedback from critics. Some thought that it’s hard to buy into so much angst coming from a 16 year-old boy. The song has been compared to Chris Brown’s “Forever,” and it’s even been called a fraternal twin to the song. Although Justin Bieber’s music is generally well received by critics and little girls, I don’t really like it. It’s intended for a much younger audience. His voice is airy and girly, and his songs are all whiny. The songs are irrelevant to my life. I don’t care about his relationships, so I don’t listen to his music. However, if you know a tween girl that has more relationship drama than she should at that age, maybe Justin Bieber’s music would be good for her to listen to.

Mumford and Sons is folk music and has been new to the music industry. These four English men are making their way to the top with their music that creates an Indian upbeat fold type of mood when they play. Love, hate, laughter, is all portrayed through the music of these four talented men. This band is not like most other bands where you have loud booming bass and rock sounding drums but they have a mellow tone with the sound of guitar, bass, vocals, piano, and only the bass drum. They find that having an actual drum set is useless to them so they only use a kick drum to keep tempo. Weird but very effective, and most people like it. I especially like because their music is very real, it doesn’t just stray from little things but it does capture what they are trying to say through music. One of their songs that very much enjoy is “Awake My Soul”. This song is one of their most popular songs, dues to the fact that it truly does get the point across. He wants his soul to awaken from all the hardships he’s had so that he may find something right in this world to him. I think that this band is great and will continue to be great in the next year or so. Still they are new but they are rapidly getting attention from big music records. Whenever I feel I want to hear something that will be fun and simple I turn to Mumford and Sons. In my opinion I think that it is worth my money because the music that they make is something I enjoy so I would invest in their music. Not only do they make great music and the lyrics are from the heart but they inspire to show that life isn’t that great but you have to make the best of it.

Blake Shelton is a growing country artist. He has had many hits and is now starting to settle down with his life. His recent song “Honey Bee” is a pop-crossover hit but he mainly just sings country. The feelings of his songs can definitely vary; like in his song “God Gave Me You” the tone of the song is calm but then in the song “Hillbilly Bone” it’s really upbeat music. An artist that Blake Shelton is like is Luke Bryan. His songs can also vary in the feelings and tones; some are more upbeat while some are more sad and depressing. The song “Do I” by Luke Bryan and the song “The Baby” by Blake Shelton are similar they both have a somber feeling to them. The lyrics “The Baby” have a really good meaning to them. This song is a story of a man who is the baby of the family, when he finds out that his mother is severely ill and probably won’t make it through the night, he leaves town and rushes back home to be with her but he’s too late. "She looked like she was sleepin', and my family had been weepin' by the time that I got to her side. And I knew that she'd been taken, and my heart it was breakin', I never got to say goodbye. I softly kissed that lady, and cried just like a baby." This song is memorable to me because I know what it’s like to lose people that you love. Another song I enjoy by Blake Shelton is “God Gave Me You.” My favorite line in the song is “God gave me you for the ups and downs, God gave me you for the days of doubt, for when I think I’ve lost my way there are no words here left to say, its true God gave me you.” I think this is true because if it’s a friend or a soul mate there’s always that one person that’s been there for you with everything and I think this song explains it perfect. “There are far too many unique and infectious moments on the album to drown in those shallow waters, however. ‘Red River Blue’ is Shelton hitting a homerun in a clutch situation as the eyes of the country music world are bearing down on him.” Critic Billy Dukes stated this and I agree with him because this album does talk about his love life multiple times but it shows his passion and love. Overall I would spend time and money going to a show because I have seen him live and he’s amazing.

How many artists do you know that have been discovered at their hometown talent show? Well, that happened for Usher, who is an R&B singer and song writer. Usher’s mom was his manager for quite some time. In Usher’s album Confessions he sings about his own life experiences. "It takes guts to talk about the stuff I talk about on this album," says Usher. In this album he has a song that talks about an unplanned pregnancy. A feeling that may be evoked to the listeners of this album could be understanding, because the listeners might be going through some of the same things that Usher is too going through. In Usher’s song “Confessions” he sings about the unplanned pregnancy. Here is a little part of his song, “Just when I thought I said all I can say my chick on the side said she got one on the way these are my confessions.” He is confessing to his listeners that he too makes mistakes. In his song, “You Got It Bad” he is singing about love. While listening to this song, one may defiantly feel loved. In the lyrics to this song, Usher says, “I said I’m fortunate to have you girl I want you to know that I really adore you.” Usher wants this special girl to know how much she truly means to him. Usher often sings about love and romance. Like Usher, Ne-Yo is also an R&B singer. Usher and Mario are too, very similar. Not only can the two of them sing, but they are also phenomenal dancers. Mario’s song, “Let me Love You” is very similar to Usher’s song, “You Got it Bad.” They both, very often sing about love. According to critics, Usher is an amazing singer, along with song writer. He has worked hard for his success and defiantly deserves to be where he is today. In my opinion, I would strongly suggest that you give Usher a listen if you haven’t yet heard any of his songs. If all these “lovey” songs aren’t your thing, try listening to his song “Yeah” and I guarantee it’ll make you want to dance and it may just be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. I must confess, Usher is one of my favorite artists, not only because he is extremely attractive, but because I fell in love with his voice.

Andy Grammer is an upcoming new artist that was thought to be a one hit wonder with his single “Keep Your Head Up.” He surprised everyone with his album Andy Grammer. Grammer is a pop artist that has a variety of music, from up-beat to slow. Grammer’s album Andy Grammer is a very upbeat and youthful CD. He talks about girls in most songs, but has a few inspirational also. One of my favorite songs is “Fine By Me”, the song is very happy song and is talking about how he isn’t the begging type and relationships usually don’t work out for him, but then him saying that he really likes this girl and he would be fine if she decided to stay with him. I really like this song because it is a song that can put you in a better mood and is a cute song to listen to. Andy Grammer is similar to Jason Mraz, their songs are like each other in the way that they both talk about girls and have a good understanding of what their audience wants to hear. Mraz is slowed down compared to Grammer, his songs are more “songs to sleep to” music. Grammer is more of a bold, youthful singer. Both are phenomenal singers, but Grammer is more of an upbeat singer which younger kids like and will buy his music. That will make him a popular singer to listen to. I am a big fan of the song “Keep Your Head Up”, which was his first single. It talks about things being hard, but you just got to keep your head up. He wrote this song after a day of performing on the streets and it not being very successful. I like this song because it can relate to anyone who is having a bad day. It has a good beat and can instantly put you in a better mood. It is inspirational and is just a memorable song on his album. Critics’ have been saying only good things about him. Some thought he would only have a one good song, but Grammer surprised him and came out with a fantastic album. I agree with the critics, he is a talented singer and song writer. Andy Grammer is worth the money and time to listen to him. He is a talented singer and his songs are good.

Taylor Gang or Die! This is Wiz Khalifa’s famous saying. In some of his songs he says this, or changes it to Taylor Gang or… Wiz Khalifa is a hip-hop artist, one of the best in the hip-hop industry. In Wiz Khalifa’s song “Roll Up” is a nice relaxing song. In the music video he is such a sweet heart because he’s trying to get this girl and he’s saying he won’t do anything or try anything on her. He just wants to be her boyfriend. Also, in some of his other songs he raps about partying. This gives a more fun and energizing feel to the music. Another hip-hop artist to compare Wiz Khalifa is Mac Miller. They have song a few songs together and they are amazing mix together. One of my personally favorite songs is “Roll Up” because it shows the more sensitive side of him. The song also talks about him and how he is a sweetheart to girls. Another one of my favorite songs is “No Sleep” because it shows he knows how to have a good time and it shows his more partying side. Many critics believe Wiz Khalifa is a rising star, which I agree with. He has worked very hard for his fame and deserves it. He started at the bottom and has put in a lot of hard work for this. Wiz Khalifa is a great artist who can rap about basically anything and it still sounds amazing! In my opinion he is worth going to his concerts and buying all his merchandise.

If I had to pick my second favorite band it would most definitely have to be Green Day. They have to be the best Punk Rock band of all time! Their best album has to be American Idiot, It Includes songs like, "American Idiot", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", and "Wake Me up When September Ends". “American Idiot” witch is in particularly one of my favorites. “Well maybe I'm the ... America, I'm not a part of a redneck agenda, now everybody do the propaganda, And sing along to the age of paranoia. “ This song, and these lyrics, is the prime example why I love this band. They have so much pride in their band and their music that they can write a song that rags on them and 1/3 of their fans, and the crazy thing is, us Americans will just get up and dance to it! A close second would have to be “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”. “My shadow's the only one that walks beside me, My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating, Sometimes I wish someone out there would find me, Till then I walk alone.” This song just shows the soft side of the band. Every lyric was thought of from the heart, and that’s where they sing it from. Bands that try to imitate Green Day like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and Sum 41 don’t really compare in my eyes. Green Day is one of those bands that are unique, can’t be copied, and the band that every other band wishes they were! There is just something about them that’s makes you get goose bumps on your arms when one of their songs comes on the radio. If I had the money id spend it on every concert, every Album, T-shirt, posters, and any other merchandise you could think of, because Green Day is worth it 110%!

Another singer that I really like is Jennifer Lopez because when she was growing up in the Bronx is said to herself that she was going to get out of there and make it big and be an actress but after she tried acting for a bit she realized that she like singing better and it was more her thing. I don’t just like J.LO because she knows what she wants and doesn’t stop till she gets it I also like her songs because she sings about real stuff like how even though she’s pretty guys can still be jerks and still rip out any girls heart like in the song “All I have” The nights I waited up for you (Oh, boy) Promises you made about comin' through So much time you wasted That's why I had to replace you
Uh, uh, uh It makes a cat nervous, the thought of settlin' down Especially me, I was creepin' all over town I thought my tender touch could lock you down I knew I had you, as cocky as it sounds. I also like how she sings about how not every relationship has there ups and downs and how not everyone is perfect like in the song “I’m real” Girl, I've been thinkin bout this relationship
And I wanna know is this as good as it gets Cause we've been through the worst times and the best times
But it was our time, even if it was part-time Now they been lookin at me, smilin at me, laughin like we wasn't happy But not knowin that we're growin and we're gettin married Hard lovin and straight thuggin

I have always love rick ross songs I love how he raps bout life about the street and drug’s and what people in the street have to do to make it just through one day. But Rick Ross new self-made album that hit the street four months ago. Most of the songs were about the street and how people and technology has really grown like in the song “selling dope on my iPhone “here are some lyrics from the song. I’m smoking dope, I’m on my cell phone I’m selling dope, straight off the iPhone He wanna quote, he talking 9 zones He bought four, I front him 5 more
9 piece, straight 8 balls... This is how you can sell drugs without really seeing people just because technology is so high tech now a day. But he also wrote about the passed away artist Tupac the song is called “Tupac is back” Tupac back, Tupac back There’s all these …screaming that Tupac back All eyes on me, better Picture Me Rollin’ Buying brand new rims, but them … is stolen Stranded on Death Row, Brenda having my baby But I’m stacking my paper, I need a brand new Mercedes They screaming Tupac back, Tupac back There’s all these … screaming that Tupac back. I think this song mean he’s not trying to be Tupac but he trying to do what Tupac did when he was alive and rapping he’s trying to bring peace lyrical meaning back to the game of the streets and to people who rap. So that is what he is trying to do rick ross isn’t trying to be Tupac because if you listen to the song and how he sings them he sings them like notorious B.I.G or also knows as biggie smalls cause rick ross is trying to get everyone to remember that music and rap is only like this because of what they did they brought the new swag into rap about the streets because they were the ones out there doing that work aka selling crack and coke. And this is why I love rick ross music because his songs aren’t just fake and none sense poems they actually have a meaning behind every word.

The punk rocker sound is not usually one that resonates in my ears, but New Politics, a band with alternative rock roots and a lot of loud opinions, is one exception. Friends and co-songwriters from Copenhagen, lead singer David Boyd and guitarist Soren Hansen “accidentally” started the band in 2009. Their self-titled album released in 2010 was the world’s first glimpse at what this new band had to offer. The “down with the system” tone elevates listeners rebellious attitude and heightens their attention to the injustice and unethical acts happening in the world around them.
The band’s sound could be compared to counterparts such as Nirvana, Weezer, The Vines, and Ok Go. Their straightforward and upbeat approach to issues has a very open and honest quality that we haven’t seen in music since the early 2000’s.
One of their most emotionally charged songs is “Dignity”. In it, Boyd sings about unethical practices that he make analogous to “selling guns on the playground” and feeding lies to the younger generations. In the chorus he admits that even those things closest to him like his “blood” are destructive, but he can’t change his situation because he has no voice in the world. He points a finger at everyone like him who sits back and lets these atrocities happen. We have no dignity in ourselves or towards anyone else anymore.
I, personally, do not agree with what most of the critics say about New Politics. Many believe that they are a one-note amateur group, but I believe they have something to say and it will be interesting to see how they evolve as a group.
Overall, I think that New Politics are a band worth checking out; they have definitely made a statement that was meant to be heard. They are a new band, practically babies in the music world, but it will be worth watching to see what they become in the next couple years.

A music artist I always enjoyed listening to is Wiz Khalifa. A hip hop artist whose popularity grew quickly. He signed to Atlantic Records. He also has his own group called Taylor Gang. One song that most say put him on the map “Black and Yellow”. A hit dedicated to his home town of Pittsburgh where he lived all his life. He has done many mix tapes like Deal or No Deal and Flight School. He recently made an album called Rolling Papers. The album sold 191,777 in the first week out. One of the hit songs is “Till I’m Gone” he talks about how he didn’t forget the people that helped him get to where he is. One of the lyrics is “when I go shopping I tell pick one, cause they were with me when nobody seen the vision”. I would compare him to another hip hop artist Big Sean. They both rap about the same thing and ideas. They both became known around the same time, and make much song with each other. I agree with what critics say about him. They all say that he introduced a new aspect to hip hop. He made the city of Pittsburgh be known for something other than a sports team. And they also say that he basically got where he was by doing his own thing. Back then he never really made songs with big time rappers. Drake a young money artist invited Wiz to open up for him on a tour. Wiz turned down the offer and did his own tour which was a great success. He tells his fans to do the same, not to rely on someone to do everything for you, that you’re better off doing your own thing. That’s the main reason why I like his music. It’s worth your time to check him out, and listen to some songs.

Country music is a popular American musical style that has been around since the
1920’s. I personally have fell in love with country music and many of the artists that come along with it. However, one artist that stands out in my mind is the talented and good looking cowboy, Kenny Chesney. Kenny Chesney’s heartwarming and relatable lyrics have grasped the hearts of millions. Kenny’s music style of rock, pop and country have earned him thirty Top Ten country singles and countless of awards throughout his career. Kenny has also earned platinum and multi-platinum Number One country albums. If this isn’t miraculous enough, this is just the beginning of it. Kenny Chesney has remarkably sold over 27 million albums, performed in NFL football stadiums, received four Country Music Associations and four consecutive Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year Awards. Kenny Chesney clearly has made some pretty amazing accomplishments in his music career. A personal favorite song of mine is “There Goes My Life” from the album, When the sun goes down. This song is about a high school football player who finds out his girlfriend is pregnant. In the beginning of the song he claims his life is over and all of his dreams with it. Later in the song he is married to his girlfriend and loves his baby girl more than anything. This song is very relatable to anyone because it makes you think twice about your actions and that sometimes something good can come out of bad situations. Kenny Chesney is a phenomenal artist that I believe isn’t comparable to any artist out there. Nevertheless, most critics often compare him to the country artist Keith Urban. Both artists are similar in the respect that they both write their own music and have won countless awards. On the other hand, they also are very different when it comes to the tone and vocal range of their voices. When it comes to the critics review on Kenny Chesney, most love everything about him. Although some critics critique that it took him awhile to write a hit and reach stardom. It may have Kenny Chesney awhile to reach fame, but once Kenny did he blew everyone away. Kenny Chesney without a doubt is worth your time and money. His overall message in his lyrics is about living your life completely and just simply being happy. You won’t be disappointed after listening to him.

Singing pop and acoustic music is something that Colbie Caillat is good at. Her songs that she sings are mostly about love, life, happiness and men. She evokes about life and everything that comes with it such as love and the feelings you get. A lot of other singers sing about the same things she does, such as Jason Mraz. Both of these artists have similar wording songs, but the genre of some other their songs sometimes differ. These singers both have the same mind set and believe and feel some of the same things as each other and express that through their music. One of my favorite songs of Colbie’s would be “Bubbly”. She sings “Because is starts in my toes, makes me crinkle my nose, wherever it goes I always know…” She’s talking about how she’s falling for this guy and expresses the feelings she gets from him. The critics say, “Colbie Caillat isn't afraid to sing about a world”. I can agree with them because she sings about every day, real life feelings and ideas and most people are afraid or hold back from that and the truth. The critics also said that, “Caillat plays with rhythmic touches”. I can also agree with them, because her voice is soft and sweet and the emotions of the song lyrics go along with how she sings it with her acoustic guitar. Colbie Caillat is one of my favorite singers. Her songs are “Full of carefree acoustic strums and beach-ready romance”. I agree once again with the critics because she does play carefree and makes her music flow and it’s not depressing it’s about real life and it doesn’t have to be sad. Her truth, emotion and passion she puts into her music would defiantly be worth buying, downloading and listening to. She puts a lot of effort into her music and I think that buying her music would give her credit for that. Not only that, but her music is peaceful and enjoyable to listen to.

My favorite singer would have to be Toby Keith. He is one of the greatest country music stars of all time. He sings a variety of songs on a variety of topics but my favorites are his most recent songs about patriotism. His newest album is Made in America with the hit single song “Made in America”. I love listening to this song while driving down the road in my truck, that has to be the best feeling in the world, a full tank of gas on a sunny day listening to some good old country. It makes me proud to be an American. The main topics of a lot of country singers songs seem to be Drinking, pickup trucks, women, and the U.S.A. Toby Keith seems to not stray much from that mold which is great because whether the songs are light in mood or have a more serious tone they are always catchy. My two favorite songs by Toby Keith have to be “Made in America” and “Red solo cup”. “Made in America” is about the patriotism of his father and Toby’s personal pride in our great country, it makes me feel pride and I’m sure others who listen to the song feel the same. “Red Solo Cup” has a different lighter tone and revolves around the subject of drinking. Some critics say that Toby Keith has really fallen off in the last few years. I disagree, I just think he is changing with the times and trying to come up with different material which I think is working for him. I enjoy all of his new songs and believe he is still conveying a good message though his songs. Most of his songs make the charts, so they are played on the radio which is free. But I would definitely be willing to pay for his work. His songs are easy to relate to and catchy, and if you love America you’ll love his songs.

“Drizzy Drake”, is one of many nicknames for one of the newest famous rappers, Drake. Representing Canada, Drake goes hard as rapper and singer in the United States. His style consists of hip hop and RnB. I like the vibe he gives off on almost every one of his songs. He’s my favorite rapper because he’s not that ghetto and he has good style. My top two songs by Drake would probably be Headlines and Fireworks. Headlines is my favorite because he talks about what he does and how good he’s living life. Fireworks is my second because it’s a nice calm beat with a nice flow of lyrics. I find Drake inspiring and someone to look up to. The feel of his music is happy, because he talks about getting a lot of money, and getting almost any girl he wants. Drake also raps about some of his problems or feelings. I like how Drake is diverse in his music. He doesn’t sing about one thing; he switches it up in all his songs. Some people say he’s a bad rapper for trying to be like all the other ghetto rappers. I’d disagree, he does talk about some bad stuff, but he still shows it in a good way. Drake is worth the time and money to listen to and watch because he’s a good rapper and he inspires people that actually listen to his lyrics in his music.

When one thinks of the '80s, big hair, loud music, and teens driving down the road with their windows down blasting their rock music, with these fond memories, Metallica always comes to mind. This band is hands down one of the best heavy metal bands in history. From memorable rifts to mind blowing lyrics, no one has done it like Metallica. It seemed that throughout the '80s, Metallica ruled the charts with unforgettable songs like “Enter Sandman,” “Battery”, “Unforgiven,” “Master of Puppets,” and many more. When people think of heavy metal, little thinking must be done to understand what the songs are about. Metallica felt differently about this idea and established this belief with their song “One.” This song has an unforgettable intro rift and guitar solos that hooks listeners time and time again, however the most interesting part of this song is the lyrics. It took me several listens to fully grasp the meaning Metallica was trying to convey. This song is actually about a soldier that was injured in battle and lost his “life.” The soldier must live his life even though he is scared and living off machines. He hopes for death but does not get his wish. Metallica wanted to convey the common dislike for war and show the after effects that it has.
Put simply, Metallica is music genius. They have a song for any mood. If you are angry, lonely, depressed, empowered, or anything else, Metallica is the band for you. If this isn’t enough to convince you to listen to this band, there are several bands that are similar to these Gods. One of the closest is Megadeath. Both bands have a similar philosophy to their songs and, are considered a part of the “Big Four of Thrash.” The other bands that are in this group are Anthrax and Slayer. All of these bands are similar; they have a variety of song feels and love unforgettable solos, rifts, and unmatched speed.
I personally agree with Billboard.com’s belief that “Metallica was easily the best, most influential heavy metal band of the '80s.” Metallica took hold of the rock genre and still hasn’t let go. I feel that this group is completely worth every music listener’s time and money. You may not fall in love with them immediately, but with time, everyone will find a song by Metallica that speaks to them.

One group I really enjoy listening to is Wiz Khalifa. His music is rap and he is very good at it. One song that there is emotions about is “When I’m gone” , because it is talking about what he all has now and what he will not have when he is dead, so he is pretty much telling you just live life to the fullest with everything you have and don’t worry. I would compare Wiz to Lil Wayne because they’re both very good rappers and I love both their music, and they both have songs I don’t care to listen to but yet the rest of them I do. “I’m going to spend it all why wait for another day I’m going to take all this money I own and blow it all away” is memorable lyrics from the song “ When I am gone”, by Wiz Khalifa. In reality it is telling everybody that he doesn’t care about anything and he is going to live life to the fullest. Like I said before, he is just telling us to do so and that everything we have we can’t take with us when were gone. I disagree if people don’t like him. Yeah he talks about weed and getting high and swears but his music is very good and relaxing and I enjoy it. I believe it is worth everyone’s time and money, he has great music some songs you may not like but nobody is perfect he has a song for everyone.

The singer that has my interest is Darius Rucker. He is an amazing country singer with quite some talent. There are many emotions in his songs; most of them are about girls, life, and just having a good time. One of my favorite songs by Darius Rucker in his album Learn to Live “Don’t think about it”, the song describes life. A phrase that I like from that song is “ When we make choices, we gotta live with them ,Heard you found a real good man and you married him, I wonder if sometimes I cross your mind,Where would we be today ,If I never drove that car away?” In that phrase he is talking about his life, how he had a wife and then left and is thinking how it could’ve been if he didn’t leave that day. Many other county singers have the same sound of music, but personally I think Darius Rucker has a really great natural voice. A memorable lyric from a song of Darius Rucker is a song called “Alright” I got shoes under my feet,Forever in the eyes staring back at me,And it's alright, alright.” It just means to me that everything is alright when your just living life. “Hootie and the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker visited the Rolling Stone office recently to perform a few songs and discuss his gradual transformation into a full-on country artist”, said the rolling stones website. Darius Rucker has come from a band to a single singer and has made many accomplishments. In an article from billboard.com they say that Darius Rucker has become one of the best country singers. With a great all natural voice, he has many fans. Over all I would have to say that he is a very talented man that deserves to be well known worldwide. I chose Darius Rucker and have learned a lot about him through reviews.

Hip hop and rap is a genre that is a popular type of music listened to by teenagers. Rap does not only influence boys but also girls. Nicki Minaj is a new upcoming artist that has won over everybody by her unusual and funky style. Rap, pop and hip hop are the types of music that Minaj plays. Nicki has a pop style but also features in rap songs with other artists, such as Lil Wayne, and Drake. Nicki has written her own rap songs as well with a fun and upbeat style. Brittany Spears and Rihanna are two singers I would consider to be similar to Nicki. Nicki Minaj has unique music, but with the cheerful and positive style shows similarity to those artists. One song that is memorable from Nicki’s album Pink Friday is the song “Did It on Em”. This song by Nicki was the number one hit for over 12 weeks. “Did It on Em” was an inspiring song because it is showing a strong women being independent and her life. “Moment for Life” is another song in the album Pink Friday, “No I’m not lucky I’m blessed, yes! Clap for the heavyweight champ, me! But I couldn’t do it all alone, we!” are lyrics found in the first verse of the song. These lyrics portray a women that is confident, she is not only positive towards herself but she also she’s “But I couldn’t do it alone, we!” this shows her giving a shout out to her fans or friends who has helped her out on her way. Many critics have said Nicki Minaj has “turned a lot of heads by coming out of the gate as a supremely confident, powerful young lady.” Many critics have written about her accomplishments. I agree with the critics that view her has an influential, and real artist. Nicki Minaj’s album Pink Friday is a big hit, I would absolutely suggest Nicki as an artist.

Nickelback is a well-known rock band the started in Canada. Most of their songs give either a sad or angry feel but some even give a happy feel. They sing about a variety of different things. One of my favorite songs is “Someday” and it is about an ex-girlfriend and how he was going to make everything better someday. This is an example of their more sad emotional songs. Another one of my favorite songs is “Rockstar” which is them talking about the life of a rock star and how they want it. This is an example of one of their more upbeat songs that give a more rock and roll feel. As you can see, Nickelback gives a mixture of songs and feels that they all give. Nickelback is a lot like the bands 3 Doors Down and Creed. They all have the same rock and roll feel but they also have a more sensitive side as well. Someday, somehow
I'm gonna make it all right but not right now, are lyrics to my favorite song “Someday”. To me, these lyrics mean that sometimes everything doesn’t work out, but someday everything will work out. Everyone has went through times when they couldn’t see the bright side or understand why it was happening, but this song makes you realize that there is always a time to make things better. Nickelback is about to release their newest album on November 21st. Some people do not like Nickelback's new music. Some of their new music is more about sex and more hardcore rock, rather than when they started it was more soft rock. No matter what others think, I love all of Nickelback's music! They are a band that can pull of a more soft rock feel but also a more hard rock style as well, which most bands cannot pull that style off. I cannot wait for their new album to come out later this month and I hope everyone else will enjoy it was much as I will.

Many critics have been comparing Lady Gaga’s album Born This Way to a lot of retro 80’s pop artists such as Madonna. Lady Gaga quite obviously takes a lot of inspiration from older songs. For example, one critic stated that ‘the bassline in "Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)" keeps threatening to turn into the bassline from "Don't Stop Believin'," while "Marry the Night" is more or less a rewrite of Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero."’ Many of the current pop songs take some of their elements from the 80’s as well. However, the lyrics of Lady Gaga’s songs are more current than the underlying music. They tend to speak on important issues like gay marriage. One song, “Judas,” speaks of a woman that is still in love with a man who betrayed her and also tells of Lady Gaga’s past. Another song, “Hair,” is about how Lady Gaga was forced to dress a certain way when she was younger and could only express herself with her hair. The song is about personal freedom to be who you want to be and express yourself. Lady Gaga is not the first person to describe hair as a means of showing your individuality, but some people would say that she is committed to the idea more than others have before. Many critics say that Lady Gaga’s music is edgy and is bringing in a new era of pop, while others say that Lady Gaga is merely bringing back older music and updating it for our current times. Personally, I don’t like Lady Gaga’s music. I feel that it can be rather crude. Lady Gaga also tends to substitute grunts and other odd noises and syllables for actual words. For example, in her song “Bad Romance,” one line says, “rah rah ah ah ah/roma roma ma/Gaga ohh la la/want your bad romance.” That isn’t exactly thought provoking or meaningful. It’s just filler with a catchy sound to it. Although I disagree, many people enjoy listening to her music and would consider it worth the time and money.

For years I have listened and have bought every album from the band Coldplay. Coldplay has been one of my favorite bands for a very long time. Their music isn’t rock, heavy metal, or even hip-hop, but simply Coldplay brings a new alternative genre to the music industry. Coldplay has a unique and new way of expressing feelings through music like no other band has. For example, their new album Mylo Xyloto. Which frankly means, nothing but the band says they made up the word? Although the new album deals with the traditional guy and girl that find love together, you don’t really see that coming through the music because their music is so unique that is throws you off on what type of music you’re listening to. Unlike Kings of Leon that have more of a rock hard feeling to their music, Coldplay brings violins and mellow flowing instrumentals and melodies to its music which makes the song or even that little break even better than rock hard or techno music. Now another thing that separates Coldplay from any other band is their lyrics. Obviously one needs lyrics but the lyrics that Coldplay produces are incredible. Take this for example, “Maybe I’m in the black, maybe on my knees maybe I’m in the gap between the two trapezes but my heart is beating and my pulses start Cathedrals in my heart”. The message of one being lost, not knowing what to do and when all hope are lost he still has himself in his heart to remember. These lyrics make you think and help tell a story that most people would not take the risk doing because they don’t know how. But Coldplay has an interesting way of clashing both music and words to make what is known as actual music. Rolling Stone reviews say this about Coldplay “Aided again by Brian Eno, Coldplay are still dabbling in the kind of cool-weird artiness they truly went for on 2008's Viva La Vida”. Right there you have it, “dabbling in the kind of cool-weird artiness”. Simply saying that Coldplay really does bring it to the audiences when they go on stage. As most people warm up to the new album people love their old albums because they are just pure mellow and house party songs to just sit around chat while having Coldplay play in the background. Overall I think it defiantly is worth the time for studios to keep recording and producing songs that Coldplay make, these guys are truly musicians and have a sense of urgency to their music.

Wiz Khalifa is one of hip hops hottest artists at the moment. He is at his peak of popularity and continues to grow. His songs tell a lot about where he came from and where he’s at now in his life. His songs portray many different feelings and emotions. His album Rolling Papers has more of a laid back and chill feeling to it. The songs describe how he’s so amazed he’s made it this far in life when he’s so young. While the albums Cabin Fever and Deal or No Deal are more upbeat and party music. Another artist that is a lot like Wiz Khalifa is Big Sean. He is a new hip hop artist who also raps about where he is at in his life. His album Finally Famous features a song with Wiz Khalifa. I think that both the rappers have the same feeling to their songs. The song, “Cameras” by Wiz Khalifa is one of my favorites because it tells the story about how his career has just taken off. “I always knew I was this good, but never knew I’d be this good” is line in the song that shows that if you follow your dreams someday you may just reach them. Also the song “This Plane” has memorable lyrics because it’s about when his career was just starting out and he says, “Uh, so while you busy trying to fit in, Imma stand out, and view my life through this lens to see how it pan's out.” I like this line in the song because it shows that he’s not afraid to be different and he’s not just like everyone else. Wiz Khalifa raps a lot about drugs and women some people tend to disagree with his music while others appreciate it. BBC Music critic Lloyd Bradley said "These are the sort of songs that mainstream hip-hop needs, and would probably find much more entertaining than what tends to get pushed at it." I agree with this statement because the things people rap about fit the genera of music. David Jeffries of the All Music Guide really nailed it said "Rolling Papers casts Khalifa as a more earthbound and approachable version of Kid Cudi, or Curren$y for the masses, both of which are meant as compliments," I also agree with this because I think that earthbound is the perfect word to describe the mood of his music. "Khalifa hustled for years to get his big break, suffering record-label indignities, releasing mixtapes and using Twitter to build a following. When he raps, 'I don't wanna wake up,' on 'Wake Up,' you can't help but hope his dream lasts a while." This was said by critic Jon Dolan and I think it shows how far he’s had to come to make it this big but all his hard work paid off in the end. I have been to a Wiz Khalifa show and it was definitely worth my time and money. It was a really fun concert but the thing that I liked the best was he sounds just how he does on his albums in real life which most people don’t.

Although the band Thursday cannot be put into simply one category, it is considered to be part of the post-hardcore scene of the ‘90s. When listening to Thursday’s music, feelings of relaxation yet anger and angst seem to be evoked. There aren’t very many other bands that compare with Thursday, but bands such as Underoath and My Chemical Romance can compare.
Thursday’s intense and frightening instrumentals are like that of Underoath’s. One of Thursday’s songs that reminds me of Underoath, is the instrumental song “In Silence.” When I first listened to this song I immedietly thought of Underoath’s “Casting Such a Thin Shadow.” Although “Casting Such A Thin Shadow,” is not completely an instrumental song (it has lyrics at the end) It contains some of the same qualities. For example both songs start with a mysterious beat at the begining that keeps you wondering when the song is truly about to begin. As both songs keep you in a sense of peace, the musicians officialy start of the song by hitting a few beats on the drums and frantically plucking the strings on the guitars.
Unlike most of bands and artists of this generation, Thursday’s lyrics are deep and meaningful and full imagery. Many other critics have also said this and I agree. The first songs that I had listened to by Thursday were, “Love Has Led Us Astray,” and “In Silence.” At first I simply found the instrumentals of “In Silence” peaceful and easy to listen to without actually thinking that there could be a deeper meaning to the song, despite the fact that there aren’t any lyrics in the song. It wasn’t until I watched the music video that I realized that Thursday’s music has a much deeper meaning. If you were too watch the music video for the song, you might be slightly confused on the meaning, but in the video there are two personified cardboard boxes walking amidst dead trees. The trees are symbolic of all the dead people around the us. The part in the video where on of the boxes finds an axe is symbolic for a man who finds a way to be evil and he takes the chance. The bats flying around in the video symbolize people who witness evil happening and they do nothing about it.
I enjoyed listening to Thursday and I reccomend this band to music lovers and those who want to experience music much deeper in meaning. Thursday is a band whose CDs are worth spending your money on. I know from experience that you will be satisfied with what you find within the music, instrumental or not.
Below are links to listen to “In Silence” and “Casting Such A Thin Shadow,” just in case you were curious about the music video for “In Silence” and so you could compare both songs and form an opinion of your own.

One band that I have become obsessed with is The Script. The Script is made up of three soulful Irish men, who are into contemporary rock. They have come out with two albums The Script and Science & Faith, which have become quite successful in both the United Kingdom and the United States. In one song, you can feel compassion and joy, but in another you can feel vulnerable. They have powerful voices and touching lyrics, which helps connect with listeners. Whether they have an upbeat or slow song, every song is good. The band’s music is a lot like James Blunt. Blunt’s music is also very emotional just like The Script. One of his most popular songs is “Your Beautiful”, which is a very touching song like many of The Scripts songs are. Both Blunt and The Script had to struggle to get well known in the United States. People were hesitant on liking their music, but they both got millions of followers. Unlike The Script, Blunt got frustrated with how the fans reacted to his last album and wasn’t enjoying it. People thought he didn’t have as much inspiration than he used to. The Script is taking it day by day and enjoying every minute of it. The Script has been very successful. Probably the most well-known song is “Breakeven”; it was the first song that became popular on the radio and talks about a break up. This song is memorable and can relate to a lot of people. “I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing just prayed to a God that I don't believe in 'Cause I got time while she got freedom 'Cause when a heart breaks, no it don't breakeven” those lyrics just show that they have been through some sort of heartbreak and I think that is why they are so popular. People like a song that they can relate to and that is what The Script has. Their recent album Science & Faith is one of my favorite albums and I love the song “Nothing”, it has so much meaning to it. I agree with what the critics, all I’ve seen is good things said and how they have become very successful. I think it is worth time and money to listen to The Script because they can relate to the listeners and have different types of songs, they aren’t all the same.

That is what Mac Miller says in just about every song of his. Mac Miller is a hip-hop artist that started his carrier in 2007. In the song “Donald Trump” it has a feel to it that gets you pumped up, and want to get moving. It has a certain beat to it that just makes it a fun song to listen to. Along with all his other music. Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa both have the same type of flow in their music. They are good friends who have been making music for a few years. They have sung a few songs together and they are very good! In Mac Miller song “Life Ain’t Easy” it starts out by saying “When I get older ima be real cool, sitting on the porch with a fresh pair of shoes, a whole bunch of stories for the neighborhood kids, telling them to believe to be making them rich.” I think that means how he started by listening to older kids stories and he wanted to be like them. Mac miller does have a ton of fans. He realesed a free mixtape for everyone because he over 100,000 followers on twitter. Mac Miller does also have a lot of haters (people who don’t like him or his music). One of his famous sayings, “Haters equal motivators.” My overall opinion on Mac Miller is he is a very good hip-hop artist and very inspirational.

If I had to pick my favorite band it would most definitely be AC/DC. They are the true definition of Rock “n” roll. My favorite Album would have to be ACDC Live at Daytona, they play songs like, “Thunder strut,” “back in Black,” “Highway to hell,” and “Hells Bells.” All their songs are filled with excitement. Every Guitar lick sends a shiver through my spine. “Thunder Strut” I find to be one of their most exciting songs. “Sound of the drums Beatin' in my heart, The thunder of guns! Tore me apart, you’ve been - thunderstruck!” You can only feel the adrenalin pumping threw their veins while they are singing this song; their lyrics have so much passion and they sing it with nothing other than. “Back In Black” would have to be a close second. ” “Back in black I hit the sack I've been too long I'm glad to be back Yes I'm, let loose From the noose That's kept me hanging about I keep looking at the sky 'Cause it's gettin' me high Forget the herse 'cause I'll never die I got nine lives Cat's eyes Usin' every one of them and running wild.” This song just shows the rebellious side of the group. “Back In black” is one of the most known songs by them out there. When it comes on the radio you can’t help but to turn it up and enjoying the magical feeling it gives you. They don’t really compare to many other bands, they are a one of a kind. Bands like Twisted Sister, and Poison, are in direct competition with AC/DC. But in my eyes there is no doubt that AC/DC is the victor. some critics say that they are the sons of the devil, that they are mindless babble, on the other hand some say they are the best, they are what every rock 'n' roll star wants to be. They are an inspiration to music and music legions. I agree with them. In my eyes they are the best at what they do and inspire me with their lyrics, and every penny I spend on their music, shirts, or posters is worth it 100%

Brand New is a musical group whose transformation and development have always intrigued me. Starting in 2000 as just another punk/pop group created by a few high school friends, Brand New has grown in both ability and maturity exponentially. Since their first album, Your Favorite Weapon, the group has developed from a rough-around-the-edges punk band to a more mature indie rock group with its own personal sense of flair. Brand New has a sound that is similar to groups such as Manchester Orchestra and Taking Back Sunday. The mixture of softer sounds and harder rock is a style they all have adapted.
Even though they have since brought out a new album titled Daisy (which is one of their most mature albums they have released due to their exploration of the religious follower and the desire for fulfillment), I would say that their 2006 album Deja Entendu is my personal favorite. The minor chord melodies and Lacey’s whining, breathy voice create a complex mood of regret, desire, and desperation that is impossible to not commiserate with. The second song on the album, “Sic Transit Gloria…Glory Fades,” offers a quite vulnerable window into a side of teenage romance that is rarely seen. In the song we hear narration of a teenage boy “becoming a man.” The issue is that he’s terrified and unsure of himself. He feels like the girl is moving too fast for him, and he is not prepared for what this will entail for his future and hers. He doesn’t want to do it, but he’s scared he will lose her if he doesn’t. This song makes you do a double take on the emotions of both parties when making a decision like this. It also causes you to think over the possible destructive implications of these actions. Throughout the entire album you see this repeating theme of fear and vulnerability that makes it so enticing.
I fully agree with the statements of critics saying the band’s music “routinely explodes without warning” and keeps you on your toes. I have never been bored listening to a Brand New song, and I don’t plan on ever being in the future.
Overall, I think any one of the Brand New albums is worth picking up. But I warn you, this isn’t easy listening! You need to be active in hearing the lyrics and the messages they offer.

A group to listen to is YMCMB (Young Money Cash Money Billionaires). There several talented artists like Drake, Nicki Manaj, Bird Man, and the CEO of the record label Lil Wayne. I enjoy listening to their music because are all Rap artists. Also the incorporate different styles of music together like R&B and Rock as well as hip-hop. Some of the songs are about their life and how they made it to become a big celebrity. I mostly enjoy listing to Lil Wayne’s No Ceilings album, because it has a nice flow and his rhymes are nice. In Drake’s song Headlines “ I might be strung-out on compliments, over-dosed on confidence” I thought it was a very well thought out song. In most of these songs you can see how ambitious this group is starting as an actor on Degrassi to a Rapper of the Year award winner in 2010. Also in Lil Wayne’s song How to Love, he switched his whole style from a hard-core lyricist to a slow summer jam. I believe YMCMB has become a great influence in the hip-hop throughout this past decade. Critics say that Lil Wayne nearly ruined his career when he introduced his heavy metal song Prom Queen, it was way out of tune and he lost many fans for a while including me. Over all I believe that YMCMB is going to become one of the best of the best artists that was introduced to hip-hop. If they continue in this progressive manner the will become hip-hop hall of famers.

One group I always enjoy listening to is maybach music group. There hip hop group that are making a big come up in the industry. There newest mix tape called Self-made was a huge hit. They have 3 big name rappers Rick Ross, Meek Millz, and Wale. The CEO of the group is Rick Ross. They incorporate different different styles of music. I can relate to their music and what there expressing. My favorite song from the group is Meek Millz single “Moment for life”. He talks about how people change and you don’t really know a person until the end. He talks about how the people he grew up with started hating him after he was making money. Some of them even tried to rob him. He says you can’t trust anyone but yourself. In his song he says “I’m just adding up this paper, subtracting the homies”. He tells his fans to just make your money and don’t worry about anything else. And never forget the people that were with you when you had nothing. I really recommend this to people you won’t be disappointed. I think a lot of people can relate to him, and his words. Another song I like that he wrote is “Ya’ll don’t really hear me tho”. You Can compare this song to most hip hop artist today talk about the same thing he does. For example another artist called j. Cole talks about the same subject in the song called “Show me something”. I agree with what the critics say about him they say that he has a great flow. That he will also get more, and more successful has his career goes on. In my opinion he is the best rapper in his group. He changes up his flow in every song so he doesn’t sound the same in every song. You’ll enjoy his music.
