For years I have listened and have bought every album from the band Coldplay. Coldplay has been one of my favorite bands for a very long time. Their music isn’t rock, heavy metal, or even hip-hop, but simply Coldplay brings a new alternative genre to the music industry. Coldplay has a unique and new way of expressing feelings through music like no other band has. For example, their new album Mylo Xyloto. Which frankly means, nothing but the band says they made up the word? Although the new album deals with the traditional guy and girl that find love together, you don’t really see that coming through the music because their music is so unique that is throws you off on what type of music you’re listening to. Unlike Kings of Leon that have more of a rock hard feeling to their music, Coldplay brings violins and mellow flowing instrumentals and melodies to its music which makes the song or even that little break even better than rock hard or techno music. Now another thing that separates Coldplay from any other band is their lyrics. Obviously one needs lyrics but the lyrics that Coldplay produces are incredible. Take this for example, “Maybe I’m in the black, maybe on my knees maybe I’m in the gap between the two trapezes but my heart is beating and my pulses start Cathedrals in my heart”. The message of one being lost, not knowing what to do and when all hope are lost he still has himself in his heart to remember. These lyrics make you think and help tell a story that most people would not take the risk doing because they don’t know how. But Coldplay has an interesting way of clashing both music and words to make what is known as actual music. Rolling Stone reviews say this about Coldplay “Aided again by Brian Eno, Coldplay are still dabbling in the kind of cool-weird artiness they truly went for on 2008's Viva La Vida”. Right there you have it, “dabbling in the kind of cool-weird artiness”. Simply saying that Coldplay really does bring it to the audiences when they go on stage. As most people warm up to the new album people love their old albums because they are just pure mellow and house party songs to just sit around chat while having Coldplay play in the background. Overall I think it defiantly is worth the time for studios to keep recording and producing songs that Coldplay make, these guys are truly musicians and have a sense of urgency to their music.
