Blake Shelton is a growing country artist. He has had many hits and is now starting to settle down with his life. His recent song “Honey Bee” is a pop-crossover hit but he mainly just sings country. The feelings of his songs can definitely vary; like in his song “God Gave Me You” the tone of the song is calm but then in the song “Hillbilly Bone” it’s really upbeat music. An artist that Blake Shelton is like is Luke Bryan. His songs can also vary in the feelings and tones; some are more upbeat while some are more sad and depressing. The song “Do I” by Luke Bryan and the song “The Baby” by Blake Shelton are similar they both have a somber feeling to them. The lyrics “The Baby” have a really good meaning to them. This song is a story of a man who is the baby of the family, when he finds out that his mother is severely ill and probably won’t make it through the night, he leaves town and rushes back home to be with her but he’s too late. "She looked like she was sleepin', and my family had been weepin' by the time that I got to her side. And I knew that she'd been taken, and my heart it was breakin', I never got to say goodbye. I softly kissed that lady, and cried just like a baby." This song is memorable to me because I know what it’s like to lose people that you love. Another song I enjoy by Blake Shelton is “God Gave Me You.” My favorite line in the song is “God gave me you for the ups and downs, God gave me you for the days of doubt, for when I think I’ve lost my way there are no words here left to say, its true God gave me you.” I think this is true because if it’s a friend or a soul mate there’s always that one person that’s been there for you with everything and I think this song explains it perfect. “There are far too many unique and infectious moments on the album to drown in those shallow waters, however. ‘Red River Blue’ is Shelton hitting a homerun in a clutch situation as the eyes of the country music world are bearing down on him.” Critic Billy Dukes stated this and I agree with him because this album does talk about his love life multiple times but it shows his passion and love. Overall I would spend time and money going to a show because I have seen him live and he’s amazing.
