One of the popular bands is Three Days Grace. The band was formed in Norwood, Ontario. They were rocking out from when they were teens. The band was called Groundswell back in the old days. There were 5 of them but they split up into a trio in 1992. The feel of their music is rock out hard. There punk music is loud and hardcore. One of their songs is “I hate everything about you” and that is just pure anger. But if you compare that song to one of Nickelback’s like savin’ me. You can notice how Three Days Grace song is louder and Nickelback’s is more of soft. I agree with the critics decision about Three Days Grace. The critics say that this band has a lot of talent. This Band is worth your time and money because it has a lot of good songs that can make you sing along and party like crazy with your friends.

Lil Wayne is considered one of the best rappers in the game. Wayne is from the streets of New Orleans and raps about whatever comes to mind. Lil Wayne ranges from hip/hop to R&B, pop, rap, and from time to time rock. Lil Wayne’s have an inspiring and thinking kind of feeling to it. When Wayne raps or sings, he typically uses a metaphor which makes the audience really listen and try to understand his music. When you compare Lil Wayne to Rick Ross, they both are well known in the African American community. Lil Wayne, though, is also listened and liked by many other ethnic groups. Wayne has a wide range of audiences because he speaks the truths, and feelings that most people have gone through. One of Lil Wayne’s songs that are memorable is called “I Feel like Dying”. What makes that song very memorable to me is that it uses a lot of metaphors that I understood. For example he raps “And if I should ever fall, the ground will then turn to wine “, giving the ground characteristics of wine. Another song that was very memorable was called “Lollipop”. That song was memorable because it was a club hit, and was very popular. Also I believe when he came out with that song, everyone really noticed how talented he was. Critics say that Lil Wayne is outstanding and very talented and I would have to agree. I agree with this because if he wasn’t that lyrically talented, I wouldn’t be writing about him. I also believe he is lyrically talented because of the way he uses, and mixes words up by giving different meanings. Overall I believe it is worth buying Lil Wayne’s songs and CDs, because not only can his vocabulary help others, but also he gives the audience something to think about.

I absolutely agree with Melanie. I love Taylor Swift and so do all of her fans. She has an amazing gift to be able to write a whole album about her experiences in life and plus she has an incredible voice. I admire how pretty much all of her songs depict what teenage girls are going through and therefore they really look up to her. She has the voice, as I may clearly say, of an angel and another great quality is that she is absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite songs from her is “White horse.” The reason why I like this song so much is because she is talking about her prince charming and it seems like it’s talking about a torn fairytale. It stems from a very emotional place in Swifts life. It's about that moment where you realize the person you thought was going to be Prince Charming and sweep you off your feet is really not going to come and sweep you off your feet. And, in addition to breaking up with you, he ends up falling in love with someone else. He sweeps somebody else off their feet and it's going to be something that you're going to have to get over. There's that moment in the letdown where you realize that, and you realize that person isn't your future…. they are your past. That is one song I can relate with really well. Another song I really enjoy, along with Melanie, is “Love Story.” This song offers a strong melody and a catchy tune. It should also be taken for what it is: a sweet catchy song that took over country radio and pop radio as well. It tells a story about the unrequited love between two people who are not allowed to be together but try anyways. This is the conflict. Swifts song/ music video mirror the idea of the play Romeo and Juliet. The video does a good job in expressing the characters personalities. Juliet, played by Swift, is shown as an innocent girl who is waiting for her prince. I think the lighting, costumes, make-up and scenery were all chosen very carefully and all worked perfectly for the video. Taylor Swift is one of my favorite artists because she can relate so well with teen girl. The stories told through her music are one of the reasons why I love an artist like Taylor Swift so much!

Bruno Mars, many have not heard of this so- called new artist, but I’m sure you have heard his voice plenty of times. Turn on the radio and there he goes, singing with his soulful voice. Bruno Mars was born to a musical family in Honolulu, Hawaii. He practically grew up on the stage. His style of music is very mellow and soft. He has the type of voice that will melt your heart. Mars is a multitalented singer, songwriter, producer and musician. His music is considered in the fields of R&B, soul, pop and alternative hip-hop. He is mainly known for his collaborations with B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You” and Travis McCoy’s “Billionaire”. Currently Bruno Mars has been number one for the last 4 weeks with his first single “Just the Way You Are”. My personal favorite song of his is “Just the Way You Are”. Its love song about a girl who he thinks is naturally beautiful and she doesn’t believe him. My favorite line from the song in when he says “When I see your face, there’s not a thing that I would change cause you’re amazing just the way you are”. His debut album has sold over 1.697 million copies since its release. Before becoming a solo artist Mars has been in the background, co-writing songs such as; “Right Round” by Flo Rida, and “Wavin Flag by K’naan”. Critics have compared Bruno Mars to Michael Jackson when he performs. I believe it’s too early to compare him to a legend like that. He has the potential of being up there with the greats, but until we should let him grow as an artist. Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars have similar styles but different ways of expressing their music. One similarity is that they’re both performers, they know how to entertain people. Bruno Mars released his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans in October of 2010. It has many good singles. Overall the album is about love and its expresses a feeling of romance. If you want to hear someone fresh and new I recommend you to go out and buy his album.

The title of 2PAC's fourth album, All Eyez on Me, comes just four months after he was released on bail pending appeal on his conviction for sexual assault. His music is mostly rap and hip/hop but he also sings. The song called “Dear Momma” is about his childhood, “I was a young me and my mama had beef Seventeen years old kicked out on the streets” when he looked back at his past he realized that he didn’t give his mom a lot of respect and made this song to show that he feels bad for making her go through all the things she did. I agree with the critics because they say that he is a very intelligent student but once he got into the gang life everything went down from there. I would recommend on buying one of his albums because almost all the songs he writes is one of his memories and they tell a good story

Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mather’s III, 17 October 1973, Kansas City, Missouri. Eminem mainly focuses on hip/hop, but every once in a while he puts out a remix of an old rock song such as “Sing for the Moment’’. In the album “The Eminem Show” it’s mostly all rap, hip/hop with a remix of”Sing for the Moment. In the album “The Eminem Show” he really shows his emotions towards his past and how messed up his mom is. In the song “My Dads Gone Crazy” he puts out a lot of negativity about his child hood and how his mom would tell him his dad is the crazy one when she is the one that is an alcoholic and a drug addict. In a comparison to Tupac Shakur they both rap about the same topics but just in a different style. They both tell stories about their lives from the past to their present.”Mocking Bird” by Eminem is one of his older songs from the “Encore” album with some deep lyrics telling a story to his daughter that everything is going to be alright and telling her to not worry about anything because he’ll always be there for her. Another song that is memorable is “Cleaning out My Closet” form the album “The Eminem Show” this song tells a story about his mom and he said “I'm sorry mama, I never meant to hurt you, and I never meant to make you cry”. It seems like most rappers always come up with a song saying sorry to their moms. I think that his albums are worth it because almost every song has a meaning to and not just something he wrote down.

I agree with the viewpoints and facts you have displayed about Eminem, Damir. Now, I personally don’t care for Rap but I’ll admit that I listen to Eminem because I like what he has to say in all of his songs. I also like the fact that all of his songs have a message to give to the general public. Other songs generally have bits and pieces of his life story which is interesting to listen to as well. I also agree with you when you say that Eminem relates to his followers as opposed to some of the newer and upcoming rappers. Through Eminem’s songs he’s trying to let people know how to live there life and not follow in his footsteps at certain points in his life. In truth, Eminem is a role model to people that are struggling through life so based off his music and what he has to offer, he has helped many people get back on track and live their lives the right way. I especially like his newer album “Relapse” because it shows that he never gave up in life and kept moving forward with everything going on, and at the same time moving forward with his career. I’m more of an iTunes kind of person so I could see myself in the near future purchasing some of his songs through iTunes. Eminem is definitely original and I guess that’s the reason I keep coming back to listen to his songs because they aren’t degrading like some of the songs you hear from newer Rap artists. I actually started listening to him shortly after seeing his film “8 Mile”. It tells a great story, so I decided to pick up the album that came out after the movie and I have been listening to him ever since.

Wale Victor Folarin, otherwise known as “Wale”, is an upcoming hip hop artist. He was born on September 21, 1984 in Washington D.C and had Nigerian immigrant parents. He became locally recognized when he made the song “Dig Dug (Shake It)”. In 2006 producer Mark Ronson recognized him and signed him into Allido Records in 2007. In 2008 Wale received a 1.3 million dolor contract to be signed into Interscope Records. Shortly after he released his first album “Attention Deflicit”. Some popular songs off of this album are “Chillin (feat Lady Gaga)”, “World Tour (feat Jazmine Sullivan)”, and “Pretty Girls (feat Gucci Mane and Backyard Band)”. In an interview with Flavorwire Wale said he includes elements of go-go in his work. Go-go is a term for funk that was originated in Washington D.C. People describe go-go as “a more raw, percussion-driven offshoot off disco. People also say that wale has an alternative-meets-hardcore style. People compare Wales rap to other upcoming rap artist such has J-Cole and Wiz Kahlifa. When he raps he talks about living the good life and also tells stories that he has experienced. He tells good stories and makes you feel good when you listen to him. A song that is memorable to me is “The Get Away” off of his recent mix tape “More about Nothing”. “The Get Away” is a remix of the classic song “Fly Away” by Lenny Kravitz. I like this song so much because it always makes me feel better when I just want to grow up and move away. Another song by Wale that I really like is Mike Tomlin (Black and Yellow remix). It is a freestyle to Wiz Kahlifa’s newest single “Black and Yellow”. I like this song because it is a faster song and it gets me pumped. The credits’ say that Wale is very talented in the work his does and I would have to agree in this also. I would suggest to everyone to check out his album “Attention Deflicit” and see for yourself if you like his style or not.

Marshall Bruce Mathers or also known as Eminem has been in the rap game since the 90’s. He is one of the few rappers from the 90’s still releasing albums and singles. Eminem was born in missouri and ended up in a suberb of detriot when he was 12. He began his musical carrer by entering freestyle contests while going to high school and got known by people and got signed. So far he has released 7 seven albums dating back from 1996 to 2010. The feel for eminems songs vary on the album for example “Relapse”,the album he made while he was going through hard times of being addicted to various of drugs, eminem was rapping with a accent on that album, and it wasn’t really well recived by the fans.His newest album “Recovery” has the emotion of him going thourgh a change and becoming sober in his life from the drugs he used to be addicted to. One of eminems song tittled “No love” can be compared to “What is love” by Haddaway because eminem takes the beat and chorus from that song and uses it in his to enhance it. A lyric that is memorable to me is “the moment You own it, you better never let it go You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow This opportunity comes once in a lifetime” This lyrics is memorable because it is part of a chorus so it gets stuck in your head pretty easily and it also talks about how you should take every shot you have because it might never happen again and I agree with this. Many critics say that eminem is the best lyrical rapper alieve because of his unique choice of words and I agree with that.In my opinion I think Eminem is worth every penny he asks for because he rarly dispoints and most of his songs reach the radio so he must be doing something right.

Robert Nerta Marley and the Wailers, also known more commonly as Bob Marley and the Wailers. I really enjoy the music the Bob Marley played. My dad and uncle showed me his music when I was a little kid, ever since I love his music. His songs are all reggae but they go to love songs through happy songs, and hard songs. One of my favorite songs was the first one I heard from Bob Marley was Buffalo Soldiers and the song is about the10th Calvary during the Indian war and that they were African-American taken from Africa and brought here to fight. The song is about the hardship they went through and they just want to be free and live their lives. That is a song that has hardship and Bob Marley really doesn’t have many of those. One of my other favorite songs is Three little Birds by Bob Marley and the Wailer. It is a song that most people call don’t worry song. The song is about 3 little birds that came on his door step and sang a little song, that was pure and true and that he is now singing it to you, and that don’t worry and be happy. To me I thought that was like his motto in life because that all he did was relaxed and he was one of the happiest people on the world.

Tupac amaru Shakur, to me he is one of the greatest rapper that ever lived. He didn’t rap about the same things over and over, that I see in today’s rap. He not only and actor and rapper and poet. He rapped about his life, the struggles with his mom to the good in his life. Many of his raps were relatable to the listeners they knew where he was coming from. One of my favorite songs from Tupac (or 2pac how some people write it) is Changes. I don’t know if Obama copied the slogan, but the song is about all the bad in the world and how we as people have to change it. Guns, war, drugs and racism, that we need to change it and be better people. He personally went through all of it. His mother was addicted to crack, and he a former gang member. What I like is that he rapped about issues and the good things in life, not like today’s rap. In today’s rap it is all about woman, cars, and alcohol. That is why I loved his music it brought you to the real world, and to me Tupac was taken from the world to soon. His songs vary from gangster life all the way to an ode to his mother and the hard times he and his sister went through. Then another thing his music appealed to so many people, he was the Elvis of the 90s for rap. He was a lyrical genius when it came to his songs or poems, and that’s why he is one of the greatest rappers.

Rise Against is a well known rock band out there and I think they are one of the best bands I’ve every heard. They are very good at what they do and how they play their songs. Most of their songs are fast pasted so it’s very easy to find a song with a fast beat from Rise Against when you’re in the mood to hear something in that genera. Rise Against’s songs are more focused toward listening to the song wile your doing something active or at least that’s the case whenever I listen to them. You can find fast past song like the ones from Rise Against from almost every other rock band but the reason that I like them so much is because they really don’t have vary many slow songs. It’s almost like they specialize in fast rock which is a good thing because that’s what they do best. Savior is one of my favorite songs by Rise Against. While the lyrics are not particularly memorable the song defiantly is as Rise Against has almost perfected their art of making fast pasted songs and it shows in Savior being one of the fastest and best songs that they have done. Rise Against has been called something like and 80’s metal or and 80’s punk band but I personally don’t care about what people say about what the band is I like and listen to what the band plays. Rise Against tries to send a message with their music and they do a good job making it sound good along the way if you want a taste of what they can do I would suggest looking into or picking up Appeal to Reason their latest album.

J. Cole is a new up in coming rapper; he only has released 2 mix tapes. He is a hip-hop/ Rapper. He has a 4 year degree in English and you can defiantly tell in his songs with the words he uses and how he uses them. The feel of his music is a more relaxed feel. His lyrics are the best part of his songs. He tells stories in the form of a rap song. Whenever I listen to his music I just want to relax. I think he sounds a lot like Drake Drizzy Rodgers, a rapper from Toronto Canada. They both have the vocabulary of a college graduate (which J. Cole is). They also both have the same types of beats, relaxed and slow. The difference is the types of things they rap about. J. Cole is all about real life and relating to normal people. Drake is more influenced by Young Money (a rap group lead by lil Wayne) which causes him to rap about the famous life style of money, cars, and women. I like both of these to people but I like J. Cole more just because I can relate more. My favorite song is Problems. It’s a song about bill collectors, police, and anyone else who can cause problems for the normal people. At the end of the song he say “In the end of the day all these people just like us”. I think this a lot because its true and he is putting himself on the same level as me. A lot of people think that J. Cole will be the next big star which I agree with completely. He is hands down favorite Rapper right now. My overall opinion is that I can’t wait for his new album to come out of Friday

Blink 182 is a punk rock band that is now broke up. Punk rock is a form of rock music with more of a younger look. For example the drum player Travis Barker has a huge pink Mohawk and almost his entire body is tattooed. He is known as one of the best drum players alive. The feel of blink 182 is more of a depressed, crazy, different feeling. They are always singing about love and other random things in life. Also the names of their songs are very interesting. They are the most random names. I can’t name any because they are slightly inappropriate. A band I would compare them to is simple plan. They both are the same kind of the same in the type of music. They contrast a lot in the fact that blink 182 is more bad boy then simple plan. Simple plan is way more emotional. My favorite song by the band is defiantly I Miss You. I had a girl friend for a long time and this song always makes me think of her because she showed me this song and now we broke up. The song is very good. The research I found about critics on Blink 182 was very limited because they have been broke up for a while now. The critics I did all pretty much said the same type of thing, the band is emotionally disturbed. Some people in the band have lost parents and brothers, were beat when they were little, and other horrible things. In my overall opinion I think Blink 182 is one of the best bands to ever exist. They got back together about 2 years ago. My ex-girlfriend and I had bought tickets but they broke up again like 2 weeks before our concert so we never got to go.

I don’t know much about B.O.B. First of all I didn’t know his name was Bobby Ray Charles. Another thing that really interested me was that he started rapping when he was 13. That takes a lot of talent to begin that early. I listen to a lot of hip/hop, and rap which is what his type of music is. I am really interested in starting to listen to his music. She compared B.O.B to Eminem. I found that really interesting that she said Eminem sings more about life and the bad things that happen during life. Eminem has been through a lot in his life, so I don’t blame him to not be singing about more of depressing music. That is what I really like about Eminem is that he shows his real emotions and feelings about him and his life. Now B.O.B on the other hand she said sings about life but it’s more of in a positive manner which is a good thing. Always stay positive. I am going to start listening to B.O.B because he sings in a positive manner and since he sings hip/hop, and rap. I don’t know if I will like that he sings really fast, but the fact that he really emphasizes his words and certain versus that will balance out that he sings fast. Critics say that he is really growing. I haven’t anything about him so he must not be too big as of right now. When he becomes more popular that’s when I will really begin to listen to him and enjoy actually listening to his music. Hopefully he will end up coming out with a really big album that’s interesting and worth while listening to.

Taylor Swift is one of my favorite singers. The fact that she’s so young but has so much to sing about really inspires me and clicks with me. In fact, in a Rolling Stone review by Rob Sheffield regarding Taylor’s fresh talent, Sheffield exclaims, “Where are all the older people who are supposedly making better pop records than Taylor Swift? There aren't any. In a mere four years, the 20-year-old Nashville firecracker has put her name on three dozen or so of the smartest songs released by anyone in pop, rock or country” (Sheffield). It’s no secret that she’s good at what she does, her newest album Speak Now hit stores on October 25th, and it’s already sold 320,000 copies and counting! Speak Now’s strong debut is the largest sales week since 50 Cent’s The Massacre opened with over 1,100,000 copies sold five years ago. It’s also no secret that most of T-Swift’s songs are about cheating boys, broken hearts, and revenge. In one of her songs on Speak Now called “Dear John”, the audience definitely gets that she’s been hurt by a male counterpart. “Dear John, I see it all now; that you're gone / don’t you think I was too young to be messed with? / The girl in the dress; cried the whole way home. I should've known.” She may be young, but she’s clearly had her fair share of heartache, but not all of her songs are about kicking Joe Schmoe to the curb. In her upbeat single “Sparks Fly”, Swift swoons over Mr. Dreamy, “Drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain / Kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the pain / ‘Cause I see sparks fly / whenever you smile.” And although Swift technically fits into the “country” genre of music, Speak Now features fast tempos and rock-star attitude. I haven’t gone out and bought Speak Now yet, but I definitely have plans to get it and keep it on repeat in my car.

Drake is my favorite hip-hop star. Regarding his most recent album “Thank Me Later”, a critic named Jody Rosen says “The tempos are slow, the beats are awash in gauzy atmospherics, and Drake raps (and, surprisingly often, sings) in the voice of a guy who's half-awake” (Rosen). Drake’s style on “Thank Me Later” is definitely not the main-stream hip-hop that one would expect, I agree with them on that point, but as far as the talent goes, I disagree with the thoughts that he’s just lazy and droopy. Compared to Eminem, PitBull, and DJ Khaled, Drake is much calmer and more connected to his verses. In the same Rolling Stone review, Jody Rosen states “…it's an album meant to be listened to from start to finish” (Rosen). I completely agree with that thought; Drake raps about stuff that is meaningful to him, and he knows that there are other people listening to him who can relate to the things he’s saying. In the song “Up All Night” featuring up-and-comer Nicki Minaj, Drake raps “I’m busy getting rich, I don’t want trouble…Famous like a drug that I've taken too much of, but I never ever trip; Just peace happiness and love.” He’s basically saying that he’s having so much fun making music and making money that he isn’t going to go around getting into these little “rap battles” like a lot of rappers do. Some people also say that he kind of has a big ego and lets the fame get to his head, and I agree with that to a point, but overall I think he’s genuinely talented and his music is fun to listen to. It’s always a bonus when an artist’s lyrics are relatable and when a person can really put themselves into that situation and immerse themselves into the emotions coming across from the artist.

I also really like the R&B/rap singer Eminem. Trisha hit the spot when she said how he used to be a trouble maker, doing drugs and getting in trouble. When you listen to his old songs compared to his new songs there’s a dramatic change. Not just his songs, but his videos are also very different. He used to be more immature and the songs didn’t have as much meaning they were just like your everyday rap song. Now, they have more meaning of a special meaning behind them about how he wants to get better, which really shows through his song, “Not Afraid.” If you take a look at one of his older songs, “Just lose it,” the video, lyrics, and tone make him look very immature and not grown up at all. In his newer song, “Not Afraid,” Eminem acts more like an adult and doesn’t sing so crazy, and the video is calmer and not kid crazy. He is very similar to Lil Wayne; they’re both rap artists that have been through many of the same hardships in life such as drugs. They both rap about what’s going on in their life and pour out their feeling. Their songs reflect their life, and it’s any easy way to get to know them by just listening closely to their songs lyrics. Eminem is currently trying to get better, but he can’t do this alone. He needs his friends and family by his side through every step to support him along the way. His daughter, Hailie gives him inspiration to get better. No parents wants there kid to be raised with trouble making parents. He wrote a song for his daughter Hailie called “Mockingbird.” The song is very sad and touching if you really listen to the lyrics. Eminem is definitely worth your time and money currently. He’s really matured as an artist and has a lot of talent.

I never knew B.O.B’s real name was Bobby Ray Charles. I also enjoy listening to B.O.B to get pumped up. It is apparent that for him starting as young as 13 was a good way for him to become famous and keep going with his career now that he has obtained. Also something that must have helped him become a better singer was making that group with his cousin called Klinic. I did not know that he became famous in 2006; personally I thought he was a more recent singer than just becoming famous 4 years ago. I also agree on how his music is unlike any other rap music that is out there. There is definitely a unique side to his music that fits his style of lyrics he chooses to use. His beats to his songs are for sure a faster beat than other rap music out there but not too fast to where you cannot understand what he is singing. The first time I heard his new album that he produced that second I knew it was going to be a big time album and make the top spots on the first week of being released. That is so very true on how the song “Magic” became popular for most people. The commercial really helped out making his song as famous as it is now. I agree with the critics on how he is going to keep rising in the music industry and how he is going to be producing better and better music as his career goes on! B.O.B has many different songs out there but “Magic” and “Airplanes” would have to be his most popular songs as of today. His music is well worth the money so that you can enjoy his type of music and also sing along with. Lastly his lyrics have the way of allowing you to catch on and know the lyrics after a few times listening to the song.

Daughtry- Heavy metal rock band-Focusing on the drama of long-term relationships, Daughtry does something more interesting things than many other rock bands dare to do in this era or rock. Daughtry is a heavy metal group but they aren’t your normal heavy metal group the only band member not married is the drummer his name is Barnes. Barnes is risky enough to push forward song that might otherwise plod. The emotions in his heavy metal music is focusing on long term relationships and past life experiences for the band misunderstandings, regrets, momentary straying and emotionally charged returns that make up a lifetime spent together. “Daughtry uses a lot of clichés and isn’t very good with writing lyrics line by line but in a whole.” This is a quote from the la times. The song September by Daughtry is about the days he had with a past girlfriend and the days in September that they had it’s a normal song for Daughtry to have also About growing up in a small town and wanting to get out and make something of yourself but still remembering and treasuring all the memories that will never leave you. Other critics and bloggers say that Daughtry is a very soft and weak heavy metal. I think that Daughtry is a great band. Chris Daughtry the lead singer of Daughtry has a unique and amazing voice. I disagree with the critics also about what they say in the fact of him not being very good line to line in songs. His lyrics actually talk about something unlike other bands who talk about getting drunk or women. I would have to say that Daughtry in the next few years will be one of the best heavy metal bands in the world. His songs are iconic and have meaning which is very uncommon in this day and age.

I find it very interesting that Wiz Khalifa was born in a state so close to us here in Minnesota. For some reason it’s weird to think that big stars were at one point an average person. I myself do not really listen to rap; therefore I don’t know much about him or his songs. With that said, other than smoking, what do his songs represent? What is the feel given off after listening to his songs? I have heard his song “Black and Yellow” and I agree completely that it gets stuck in your head. I think it gets stuck in your head so easily because of what you said, it’s catchy beat. You said the music video is very fitting, but for readers like me who don’t have time to go and watch it, you should tell us a little more about it! Your statement about how he likes his fans and gives away songs for free is very interesting. Not many artists do this, so I think that’s pretty cool. Another thing I would have liked to learn more about is, what artists is he alike and different from? One that pops into my mind is Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift sings about cute love stories, break ups, and friendships. From what you said Wiz Khalifa doesn’t sound like he raps about these topics too much. Another difference they have is in the way they dress. Taylor is elegant and Wiz Khalifa seems like he would be a little rougher or more street like. In your blog you wrote about how you think we should go buy his new album when it comes out, for many reasons. What I am wondering is, have you ever been to one of his sold out concerts or have you ever bought one of his previous albums?

Rascal Flatts is the top band in 21st century country music, with four multimillion-selling albums and a fifth that has sold a million copies since September. This band is fearlessly contented and consistently inoffensive. Everyone from kids to adults can listen to their music. Their music style is kind of catchy pop country. Rascal flatts is one of my favorite country band. Every time I hear their music I want to sing along. Rascal Flatts sing about love that’s lost, celebrating the good times, or giving hope that love will indeed conquer all. One of their songs, Unstoppable, is number one hit. They’ve sold over 18 million albums in their career so far. Rascal Flatts are inspiring band. Their songs are really meaningful. They touch the viewer’s hearts and mine as well. Rascal Flatts songs are very deep and pure to the core. This band is very passionate at what they do. I love most of their songs because Rascal Flatts is so real. They sing about life and personal struggles. For example, the song “Why” this song is about a friend of theirs that committed suicide and it was very hard for them to sing it. I’m very glad they had the strength to sing it. This song touches everyone’s hearts especially those who lost a best friend, a sibling, and a lover. It sends a heartwarming message out to young teens and adults who might be in the same situation. The message is don’t do it, life is worth fighting for and there are people that love you very much. Also help those who are in need, don’t turn the other cheek and never judge. Rascal Flatts is an amazing band that positively influenced their viewer. The song “Bless The Broken Road” is a favorite of mine. It talks about love and mistakes one makes getting there. Another favorite is “What Hurts The Most” this song evokes a very sad tone. It’s about losing a lover and not getting the chance to say what you wanted to say before you lost them. Rascal flatts songs are very emotional. Once you hear their songs you will get hooked. Rascal flatts music style is very different compared to Green day. Their style of music is punk rock. I personally like their style. Rascal Flatts are country band who are successful in their own unique way.

Every year artist rise up and get there 15 minutes of fame then fall off the face of the earth and never have another hit again. This will not be the case for the new up and coming rap artist J. Cole. He was the first artists to sign with Jay-Z rap label, Roc Nation, which was created in 2008. Jermaine Cole, was born in North Carolina and graduated from St. Johns University. With the rap game filled with thugs, gangsters, and just downright idiots, J. Cole brings an intelligent word play element and completely new beats, 99% of them made by Cole himself, to the table. His first mixtape “The Come Up” was made independently and right away put him on the map when Jay-Z heard it. Right after he was featured on the track “A Star Is Born” on Jay-Z’s album the Blueprint 3 which sent his career to a new level. On his 1st hit “Who Dat” was a pretty big hit for an unknown artist and it’s because of lines like “The mind state of a winner. When you thinkin' 'bout summertime I'm thinkin' 'bout the winter, When you thinkin' 'bout breakfast, I'm heatin' up my dinner. I was plottin' this moment back when y'all was ridin' spinners.” These well thought out lyrics, catchy hooks and beats that blow your mind is what is going to sky rocket J. Cole to the top and quick. His mix tape “The Warm up” was dropped last year and its defiantly worth the download. The recurring theme of this mixtape is Cole explaining to people how he’s different, that he’s about to blow up, and his never ending love for all women. Almost every track sends electricity through your body and makes you think “Damn this is something special.” Problems is one song that stands on the warm up because the main theme of the song is that everyone is the same and you know this when he says “Hey your honor, is you kidding? How you sit above me?” 24hourhiphop.com reviewed Cole and said, “As the first artist signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, North Carolina native J. Cole has a lot to prove.” I believe Cole has the skills to make it big and prove himself to everyone but I agree he has a lot to prove not only to his self but to his fans and Jay-Z for giving him a chance and being the first to sign him. His new mixtape “Friday Night Lights” drops Friday which is also when his show up in the cities is at club Karma. Without a doubt give his mixtape a look and if you like it take a drive up to the cities and show you support.

Born in Yonkers, NY in May of 1975, as a youngster he was in the rap game since the age of 16. They made there first appearance On The Main Source 1994 Album **** what you think on the track Set it off The entire group was real close with Notorious B.I.G but he took a special liking to Jadakiss, The Loxs first hit was a tribute to B.I.G called well always love big poppa. The LOX Released there first studio album in 1998 Titled Money, Power & Respect and soon after left Bad boy records. Jadakisss first Solo album came in August 2001 titled Kiss Tha Game Goodbye Under Ruff Ryders/interscope The Album didnt get a great review from Critics but was considered fire to the people. But in 2004 Jadakiss hit stores again with the album titled Kiss of Death The Track Why Ft. Anthony Hamilton was a great success peaking at 11 in the billboard 100s It was a success to the critics and the streets. Most artists might call it quits after having such success but Jadakiss was out for me he later signed to Jay zs Roc-A-Fella Records and since singing has released one studio album titled The Last Kiss with singles like Whos Real hasnt done much since that album but has Released Mixtapes.

Led Zeppelin is considered to be one of the most successful and influential heavy-metal pioneers. Originally named The Yardbird’s, the band’s name was changed in 1968 to Led Zeppelin by guitarist Jimmy Page. Singer Robert Plant and Guitarist Jimmy Page were very interested by British folk music, the occult and mythology. These interests influenced the “feel” of Led Zeppelins music, with the acoustic guitar slowly playing at the beginning of some songs, then the heavy-metal screaming near the end. Some emotions in Led Zeppelins songs are love, hatred, happiness, sadness and darkness. I would say that Led Zeppelin is like the band Pink Floyd in that it’s more about the lyrics than the hard instrumentals. Led Zeppelin invented heavy-metal music and that style of rock worked because of how good they were. One song that is memorable to me and a lot of others is “Stairway to Heaven”. A lot of people agree that this song is the best rock song of all time. It starts off slow with the acoustic guitar through about the first four minutes and then the electric guitar comes in with the screaming, then back to the acoustic to finish off the song. The song is about a woman who is rich and whose life goal is to make a lot of money. But in the end she is trying to buy her way into heaven and it doesn’t work like that. Heaven is for the people that give and care for others not just themselves.

I do agree with the critics about Led Zeppelin. The critics from Rolling Stone talk about how Led Zeppelin is one of the best if not the best rock band of all time. With numerous hits how could anyone disagree? In my opinion Led Zeppelin is the best rock band of all time, because of the amazing songs and the guitar playing of Jimmy Page. Led Zeppelin is definitely worth the time to listen to and the money to buy their numerous cds.

In today’s society, Tremaine Aldon Neverson who we know as “Trey songz” is considered real R&B music. Trey songz has been in the music industry since his first debut album in 2005. But since then he has changed the game up with his compelling, sensual, sexy, and most acclaimed R&B music. This year in early October, Trey dropped his new debut album “Pain, Passion, and Pleasure” which dramatically brought a broader audience he very did expect. The sexy, young, and confident male had many accomplishments this year. Not only pertaining his recent hit album, Trey also accomplished bringing home his first award he ever received titled “Best R&B male” in the B.E.T awards. He felt very prideful and honored because in his past he never won his own award so it felt great to finally experience what he calls a memorable moment. But moving to his early life, Trey was very respectful and disciplined growing up around female role models. His role models were his grandma and mother, who drew him into singing in a church choir. Spiritually Trey loves singing and his sound vocals to music or somewhat church boy like. Today, the sound and theme of his music contains basically situations in life we all go through growing up and how we love enjoying ourselves to the fullest. His audience connection is both adults and teens maturing so he has more fans than we can accumulate. One of Trey’s hit songs early this year “Say Ahh” I can say blew his stats up dramatically because it’s a club song. Club songs are big hits and it connects to anyone mostly adult or late teens out having fun with confidence and dignity. His songs make you feel good about life and trying to appreciate the things we do with an optimistic perspective. Overall he wants us to enjoy life and make dreams a reality like him. Also reflecting back to his song “Say Ahh” Trey kind of brought a comparison to a hit song by Jamie Fox in early 2009 “Blame It”. They are both really big club songs today and both connect with the same theme of enjoying the life of the party. Concluding this man and his wonderful achievements, I can say Trey is a great entertainer every gender can account on buying his music to support him. He’s worth every penny.

Another one of my other favorite bands is “The Gaslight Anthem”. They are a band from New Brunswick, NJ. I would say the genre is Soulful punk rock. The sound is Similar to a band’s like Less then Jake, Bruce Springsteen and punk rock band Against Me!. A lot of songs are inspired from living in The Big City, life struggles, relationships and rebellion. I remember the first song I heard from the group was one of there well know song’s Called “Red at Night”. Written using acoustic guitar, song is deep and really hits you in the Gut once you hear it. It is really memorable because it was the first song I heard from and I instantly become addicted to them after. Another good song from band is song called “American Slang” which I can personally relate or Teens can. As in my interpretation of the song as something to do with the direction that America is going as a country. Some things clearly need to be done but we don’t know what to do so we call to our "fathers" or founding fathers for advice but they are long gone. or possibly its about how its becoming harder to live up to the American dream. Critiques on site’s such as on the rolling stone have given them a good review’s on there albums and I’m pleased with their judging. This band is Overall very talented and has important message’s behind the lyrics. Go buy the Album “American Slang”!

One of my favorite Bands is the Red hot chili peppers or know as RHCP. The group was formed in California from high school friends in 1983. There genre is hard to describe as it has wide range and slightly changed from album to album. But it is categorized as Rock but infused with Punk, hard rock, funk/jazz even mixed with psychedelic vibe. They have a song for everyone. Lots of the groups song’s are about love, happiness, relationships, drugs, traveling, and death related situations. With inspired funk melody bass line’s, from legendary bassist Flea. Mixed with a signature voice from the singer Anthony Kiedis. The group creates a very original sound. Some of my favorite songs is there well known song called “Can’t stop” from the album By the Way. It is memorable because after hearing that song I knew I wanted to learn guitar. That song inspired me to pick up a guitar also the song “Scar Tissue” was a big inspiration. In the newest album called Stadium Arcadium famous song “Dani California” was very similar sound to Tom Petty’s single “Last Dance with Maryjane” since it almost has the same Chord progression. The overall of the Album’s Critique’s have loved them and I completely agree with them. If you never heard of the RHCP go out and support them you won’t be disappointed.

Taylor Swift is the new country and pop hit singer. She learned how to play guitar when she was 12 and she started writing songs about real life things. Taylors’ new album “Speak Now” is projected to sell 1 million copies. If this happens, she will beat Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” from June of 2008. It will be the biggest week for an album since 50 Cents “The Massacre” from March 2005. All of Swifts’ fans are ready to make this happen. Some favorite songs from the album include Mine, Innocent, and Back to December. Mine tells a love story about a guy and girl. It makes you feel happy that she found someone because her parents weren’t in love. It also makes you excited that she found someone so perfect. Back to December is about an ex boyfriend. It makes you sad because she left him and she realized she still likes him and he doesn’t want to talk to her. Taylor’s songs are one of a kind. She has unique lyrics and her voice reminds me of Jessica Andrews. She sings country but doesn’t have the southern accent like Miranda Lambert and Kellie Pickler. In her song Back to December, the lyric, And I go back to December all the time / It turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missing you, is memorable. She is saying she thinks about the day she left him all the time and it isn’t what she thought it would be like without him. It’s memorable because it is easy to relate to. She has been nominated for many awards and it’s easy to say I agree with the critics about her music. She had 22 top 40 songs in the 2000s which no other female artist came close to. So all in all, Taylor Swifts’ music is worth it. She has many songs and one of the biggest albums coming out so there has to be a song of hers that you are bound to like.

This powerful young artist is not afraid to speak her mind! Or I should say, sing her mind! She sings a little variety of pop and rock. All her songs are strong powered and most come from personal experiences she’s had. When you listen to her songs this feeling of taking over the world comes to you. Her newest single is called “Raise your Glass” if you just listen to the words you will hear raising your glass and having a good time. But if you listen to the message she is telling you will hear swallowing up your pride when you know you’ve done wrong, waking up each day as if yesterday didn’t happen. This song as touched many teens and in return they have raised this song to number eleven on the Billboard’s top 200! Her song “A long way to Happy” and Sara Evans song “A little bit stronger” are a lot alike. They both were written after a long hard divorce. They talk about knowing they will be happy again but that time will be the only way they can reach it. Also each day they become stronger and stronger. Both of these artists write with 100% emotion and feelings. Which I love because people can relate most to songs like that. In the article “Pink moves three million ticket sales with Funhouse Tour” the author Andre Paine talks about how much people “just love her”! He talks about how people in other countries are even being inspired by her music and are inviting her to come tour across their nations! “That is a huge honor in the music world” Pink said in an interview. Overall, I would travel just about anywhere if I had the money to see Pink. If she ever came to Rochester, MN I would be in the very front row!

The band name Sugarland consists of a Gentleman named Kristian Bush and a lovely woman named Jennifer Neetles. Together this duo is one of my favorite country bands. Even though they are heard on country radio stations, they describe their newest record as being a country record, a pop record, an anthem record, a ballad record, but above all, an authentic record. Whenever I hear their songs on the radio, I blast the volume! Listening to their album makes you feel like you could accomplish anything that deals with love. They sing about break ups, first meeting the other, falling in love, knowing when it’s right, cheaters, everything! Their newest single “Stuck like Glue” is a catchy song that is about almost breaking up however there is always that one last spark. The main lyrics that describe this song are, “How did we stay so long together? Everybody said we never would. And just when I start to think they’re right the love has died, there you go making my heart beat again, heart beat again, heart beat again”. To me, these lyrics are memorable because being a high school student you often times go through situations like this. Almost breaking up but then staying together because your heart starts to beat again. One of their other songs which I love is called, “Stay”. The title is pretty self explanatory, it is about a girl who is getting broken up with and all she wants him to do is stay. This song reminds me a lot of “Stay” by Miley Cyrus. In her song she talks about each day getting harder, how no one could take his place, and if she could have one wish it would be to have him stay by her side. These two songs are almost exactly alike. In the article “Sugarland’s Sweet Success” Gary Trust talks about all Sugarland’s accomplishments. For example, scoring its third number one on the Billboard 200. When he stated his personal thought I agreed completely, that this duo will be hot and popular for a long time to come! My personal opinion would be to go spend as much money as it takes to see this band, because they sing a wide variety and are great with the audience!

Miley Cyrus is neither one of my favorite artists nor one of my favorite people for that matter, but her career has exploded since at the age of 12 when Miley was chosen for Hannah Montana due to her energetic and lively performance. She was seen as a person who loves every minute of life. In 2006, Walt Disney Records released the Hannah Montana Soundtrack, which includes eight songs she performed as Hannah Montana. In 2007, Miley released a double album called "Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus". The first disc was the second Hannah Montana soundtrack, while the other one was her debut album. It contains ten songs, from which Miley co-wrote eight. Cyrus changed her legal name to Miley Ray Cyrus in 2008. That same year, she found herself in the midst of a controversy for posing for revealing photographs taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, which appeared in Vanity Fair magazine. The resulting criticism and media frenzy did little damage to her career, however. Her album, Breakout (2008), was a huge hit, reaching the top of the pop album charts. In her new single “Can’t Be Tamed,” Cyrus takes a new direction when she’s trying to experience a new adult life and go down a different path. But personally I can tell whether she is singing as Hannah or Miley. As Hannah Montana, her voice is higher and much livelier where as when she is Miley; her voice is more dark, evil, and raspy. I do like her music but her career has a lot of her fans questioning whether she is really true or not. I think either she stays as little miss innocent Hannah Montana or she goes off on her own as not so innocent Miley Cyrus. But she needs to stop yanking her fans around, she needs to choose now. She really can’t have the best of both worlds.

Unlike Miley Cyrus, I am actually a huge fan of Josh Turner. Turner well known country artist who grew up in the church, and found himself singing the bass and baritone parts in numerous choirs. After high school, he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music and enrolled in Belmont University. After college, his career got a boost on Dec. 21, 2001, during his debut on the Grand Ole Opry, when he debuted a song he wrote titled “Long Black Train.” He received a standing ovation in the middle of the song and then sang it again for an encore. Turner is a country singer and his music is true and pure. You can see his heart and soul just pouring out into his music whenever he opens his mouth to sing. Turners’ hit video and a No. 1 single with "Why Don't We Just Dance?," MCA Nashville's Turner debuted on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart at No. 2 and on the Billboard 200 at No. 5 with his fourth album, "Haywire." The Feb. 9 release also marks the singer/songwriters’ third straight top 10 album. My all time favorite songs, “Would You Go With Me,” is sung by Josh Turner and like me, other fans fell in love with this song too. I have read some articles on him and when I read them I got goose bumps because what he described was basically his goal in life when he was little was that he wanted to meet an amazing girl and marry her and then go on to get a record deal. He’s accomplished both of those. What he said on his website was just coming from the heart. He said "When I wake up in the morning, I think about writing and performing and singing country music. I'm happy I get to go out on the road making a living doing what I love to do and it's all because I chased my dream and never gave up." Those words are the key to success. I love Josh Turner. And that’s exactly why he’s one of my favorite country singer! Plus he’s a babe!

Taylor swift is a country star who has just released a new album called “Speak Now”. This album has sold a million copies in the first week so far. The “feel” of the album/songs are very personal because every song on that album was personally written by Swift herself. Every song of hers has something to do with events in her life somehow. Whether its family, boyfriends, or events that have happened along the way. Taylor Swift’s songs are more laid back but yet still have a “pop” to them compared to songs by Kesha. Kesha’s songs have a more fast speed to them and they give you a “hyper” vibe making you want to get up and dance or move around. One of Taylor Swift’s songs that I will always remember is her song called “Fifteen”. This song is particularly memorable because the lyrics are about walking into high school for the first day and how you’re feeling nervous and you hope to see friends from middle school so you’re not in the halls by yourself. Another song that is memorable is her song “Love Story”. This song is very memorable because what girl doesn’t want their own love story. The music that goes along with the lyrics also has a catch and drags you into the song more. It makes you feel like you’re there. Critics say “The million-mark part of the story, however, is the most impressive: Just consider that no album has sold a million albums in a first week since the debut of Lil’ Wayne’s Tha Carter III in 2008.” I agree with this because you have to have a lot of talent in order to be able to write a whole album by yourself and have millions and millions of people like it. I believe that it is worth your time and money for those of you who like Taylor Swift or country music in general to buy her new album or even any of her albums. Even if you have never heard her music before I think you would like her if you like the genre of music she plays. She is a very talent artist and she can all relate to our own problems in high school and life in general.

Trapt is a band that is ether very good or very bad. When I was first looking into the kinds of music that I like I always liked the song head strong it got me pumped. But a lot of their songs I can pass up without much thought about it. I think in the end Trapt is just another band with a one hit wonder that brought them up and their just hanging around for as long as they can. I wouldn’t recommend picking up their album if you only like 1 or 2 songs which seems to be the case with most people. Instead try downloading the ones you want without wasting you money on song that you might now listen to vary often or that you might not even like at all.

I have always liked Linkin Park. They do a very good job putting together different kinds of music into one album. They have had their good and bad albums but I think that their best album is and will always be their first one hybrid theory. I don’t know what it is maybe it’s because it was their first one or because it’s been around me since I was a kid but to me it’s simply the best. Some people call Linkin Park’s second album Meteora a continuation of their first one but to me they have the same tone sometimes but different feels to them. Minutes to Midnight totally changed up the tone with more of a slower set of song but Linkin Park still managed to make it good. If you haven’t heard Linkin Parks work you should definitely give it a try. But if you are familiar with Linkin park and how they take different kinds of music and put it together I would recommend picking up their latest work.

Nelly’s music is classified R&B or in other words hip-hop music. His music is rapping with a slow beat to it. The feel of his music is suppose to present real life situations that he has gone through as a person and most of his songs have a love side to them. For an example of a love song/emotional song his song “Just a Dream” is a perfect example. In this song he is telling a story how his love was just a dream and that it was something that should have happened for real. In a way Nelly’s songs and type of music cannot be compared to any other singers because of the style he chose to use while he sings. His music like I said is a slower version of rap singing. There are other rappers out there that have the slower version but by far Nelly has a different way of incorporating this into his lyrics and beats. Two songs that are memorable of his would have to be “Just a Dream” and “Hot in Herre”. This is because the lyrics in both of these songs are the lyrics that you hear the first time and the next time you hear the song you can sing along with them. There is a way to every song of his that catches your thoughts and makes you think about things in your own life as well. I agree with critics and how they are saying Nelly produces at a slower rate but every time he produces he tends to make a big impact on his crowd and fans. I think his music is well worth the buy due to the impression you get from just hearing his music and how it really does make you think about things in your life. He has had some very good songs recently and I hope he can keep producing some good music for his fans out there.

Lil Wayne is currently in jail for possession of a weapon while on his tour bus, he is being released from jail this week. The type of music he sings is classified as rap music. The “feel” of his songs are meant to make you think about life in general. Lil Wayne’s songs are a faster type of singing compared to some other singers. He also uses real life situations that he has been through during his lifetime while he is producing his music. Some people say he sings so fast that sometimes they cannot understand what he is saying; others would have to disagree with this. One of his lyrics that are memorable would be his solo in the song “down” that features him. This is because during his solo he sings about real life events that are happening in the world today. For example when he says “And honestly, I’m down like the economy” this is just like how the world’s economy is down from what it really should be. Lyrics like this are the ones that really get you thinking about different things. While Lil Wayne has been in jail he recently released a letter that he had written about his life, kids, release from jail, and music. Most people commented on the letter saying how they are glad that he is getting released from jail soon and that they are especially glad that he has been thinking about his kids and music. I agree with many of these opinions about his letter. I also am glad that he is being released this week and am looking forward to hearing his new mixtape that he is going to be releasing soon. Also about his kids, I am happy for him and that he is thinking about them as well. My overall opinion about his music is that its great music but most of all it’s for young teenagers to enjoy. His music is definitely worth buying if you enjoy the kind of music he is producing these days. Lil Wayne’s music is also good for opening your mind to think about things, so if you like to think his music is perfect for you! The main reasons I listen to his music is because I like him overall and his music allows me to get pumped up for game days.

It’s a very acoustic tone of music. Very calming and relaxing, you can listen to it anywhere any situation your in listen to Jack Johnson. His new album is made up of all recycled paper and renewable recourses. Jack Johnson was born in Hawaii and is also a professional surfer. His music has been scientifically proven to decrease heart rates so you should be playing his music all the time. All of his songs are calming and have meaning. “It’s the most genuine sentiment on a record from a simple but ambitious man whose real-life philanthropic and environmentally sound practices aim to sooth the world, one bro or surfer girl at a time.” This is a quote from a critic in the la times. His song breakdown in an interview Jack says it’s about just what it sounds like, he wrote it on a train on his way from one gig to another, and just wanted the train to break down so they would miss the next show and he could just get a break. Jack Johnson doesn’t have many concerts for the reason that he wants time to him self so he can surf and have fun and be a human and not a rock star physco. Critics say that Jack’s music is run ons of his refrains but I disagree with critics I love Jack’s music. His lyrics are the best part of the song they may mean something totally different to Jack but to people they may mean something else. Which brings light to other people and makes them happy Jack Johnson is one of the greatest guitarist of my generation.

Dwayne Michael Carter also known as Lil Wayne is a famous artist known all around the world. He was introduced to the hard life at a very young age. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and was raised in the tough Holly grove neighborhood. He started off rapping at a young age. At the age of 16 he released his solo debut called The Block Is Hot. It was number one on the charts. After that he started releasing high profile songs and all of his songs were becoming more famous. He also started his own group called young money which is one of the most respected groups in the rap game. Lil Wayne is a hip-hop artist and has song a different range of rap songs. He’s used auto tone on his music lately. He also released an album called the Rebirth and in that album his songs were sort of rock music like. Lil Wayne is arguably the best rapper he has been compared to famous rappers like Tupac. One of his biggest hit was Lollipop feat. Static Major. That song spent 6 weeks on the Number 1 spot. It won the Grammy for the best song in 2009 and one of the most downloaded ringtones. Another big hit was Got money feat. T-pain. That song was ranked number 19 on MTV’s list of the top hip hop songs of 2008. Lil Wayne has also had a couple run ins with the law. Most recently he was sentenced to 8 months in jail and was just recently released. People believe he has a big drug problem. A lot of fans liked his older music they believe that he might have lost his touch and that’s why he’s been using auto tone so much lately. But his mix tape that came out called No Ceilings proved that he can still rap. Overall I believe lil Wayne is one of the best rappers and that it is worth going out and buying his albums.

Eminem has been around for a long time. He has gone through a long battle with prescription drugs, his difficulties with women and the pain of being abandoned by his father at six months old. To get through his battles he had his “music.” Music helped him get through his battle. His type of music is hip/hop, and R&B. He came out with a new CD not too long ago called “Relapse.” He titled it that because of his issues he has been going through. His emotions that are evoked in his songs are to believe in you, commitment, determination, and to not go back into the bad world with doing drugs and things like that. Eminem goes along really well with Lil Wayne. They have been through some of the same issues in life, and therefore they seem to write and sing about the same songs. One song from Eminem that is my favorite is called “Not Afraid.” He tells you to not be afraid to face reality, to move on with your life, and that you’re never along no matter what. He wants to become sober, and in this particular song he tells you that exact thing. "Everybody come take my hand/We'll walk this road together." That is one of his lyrics from “Not Afraid.” Some critics say that Eminem is not a very good influence on others by the way he talks and expresses himself in his songs. Others say that he used to be like that, but now that he has changed his mind and wants to become sober that it will make him look like a better person. Eminem is for sure worth your money. He has been through a lot in his life and to be able to change your life to become a stronger person and to be able to believe in yourself that you can become one takes a lot.

Bobby Ray Charles, also known as his stage name B.o.B has recently become more publically know in the last couple years. B.o.B was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He began rapping at just the age of 13, although he knew his whole life he wanted to be a famous rapper. He first started out in a group called Klinic with his cousin, before becoming solo in September of ’06. His genre of music is classified as hip-hop/rap. Although his rapping is unique from others, because his is more of an upbeat tempo/beat compared to another rap artist, Eminem. Eminem is more of a serious rapper talking about life in general and the bad things about life. B.o.B raps about life, but in a more positive manner. I think B.o.B’s music is fun to dance to, upbeat, and can pump you up. His two hit singles; “Airplanes” and “Nothin’ on You” is what first started his major popularity. Many people consider his rap easier to listen to, because you can actually understand his lyrics. That is definitely very true. He sings fast, but is sure to emphasize the words he says so his listeners can understand. He is becoming more and more popular everyday and very excited for more of his albums to come out. His debut album, Adventure of Bobby Ray, hit the number one spot in the first week on shelves. His newest popular song is called “Magic”. “Magic” is about how he has the magic to get girls and appeal to them and other people to like him. He uses the lyrics “I kick it like adidas in his song,” which was then put into a commercial for adidas shoes. This commercial is when I first became most familiar with B.o.B and started to gain liking for him. I had heard of the song “Magic” before the commercial but it never really appealed to me, and when the commercial came out it rubbed off on me and became a song I enjoyed and listened to often. I definitely agree with the critics that B.o.B is hot right now and continuing to grow. B.o.B is definitely worth you money if your looking for a good time and ready to get off your feet to dance and sing along!

Two of my favorite artists are Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne. The type of music that Zombie displays would be classified as heavy metal whereas Ozzy is on the hard rock side because he is a lot mellower than Zombie. I actually got to attend a Rob Zombie concert before the beginning of summer this year and it was called “The Gruesome Twosome” tour because he had Alice Cooper team up with him and open up for him at all his concerts. The whole experience was amazing and with it being in the enclosed auditorium at the Civic Center, my ears were still ringing the following morning upon waking up. The mood of Zombie’s music is rather dark and has feelings of hatred/revenge. The fastness and loudness of the music helps grasp that feeling really well. Ozzy’s type of music is dark as well but a lot more calm than Zombie. It’s still fast at some parts and he talks about his past experiences in his lifetime so you get a feeling of what it would be like to be in the shoes of Ozzy. Here is a taste of one of Ozzy’s songs titled “Mr. Crowley”-

It is memorable because he is talking about this character, whether real or figurative, and what he is going through in his life and struggling just to live. Some critics say Ozzy is crazy because he bit the head off of a live bat (he thought it was a rubber toy, when it was thrown to him at a Des Moines concert. He later received Rabies shots to make sure he was alright). A lot of critics don’t approve of Ozzy or Rob Zombie because they are more on the wild side and kids shouldn’t be growing up on these artists because of some of their lyrics talking about demons and Satan. However, just because their lyrics talk about these ideas, doesn’t mean they are cultists or worship Satan. Overall, I think if you like this type of music you should definitely buy a CD or 2 from the store, check out some of their songs on iTunes, or even hit up a live concert (which would be preferred) because they are fun to listen to and they get your heart beating really fast.

Another artist I really enjoy listening to is Jonas Erik Altberg, otherwise known as Basshunter. He is a Swedish Techno and Electronica Artist who made his first appearance in the music industry in 2006. However, his songs became a major hit on Youtube starting in early 2004 (which is actually how I found out about him). The emotions evoked through his songs are feelings of happiness, love, drama and most of his songs are very fast paced and uplifting which is why I enjoy listening to him. He also tends to talk about a woman in his life that he has feelings for in a lot of his songs and she could even be his girlfriend but we as the audience don’t know that. He creates all of his songs using a program on the computer called FL Studios (Fruity Loop Studios). He is a genius when it comes to creating beats, trills, transitions and other items necessary to make a techno song what it is. Another artist I would compare Basshunter to would have to be Armin Van Buuren. He is a Dutch Electronica/Trance music producer and is far more superior to Basshunter in terms of popularity and song appeal with the general public but I appreciate them both equally for what they do. One of my favorite songs by Basshunter is called “All I Ever Wanted” which actually has the same beat/background music that “DoTA” (one of his first songs he wrote) has if you listen very carefully. In the middle of “All I Ever Wanted” the music dulls down to a quiet melody and a few beats are heard here and there. Here are the following lyrics sung by Jonas –

In this part of the song, Jonas is referring to a girl he has met recently and how she had him falling for her when they first met. Overall, I believe if you are someone who enjoys Techno or Rave music you will definitely be interested in hearing what Basshunter has to offer. I’ve haven’t had the chance to go out to one of his concerts but I think it would be an experience of a lifetime to say the least. In total, he has 5 albums out so if you are a person who prefers listening to CD, go purchase one at a Best Buy or Wal-Mart even and give his music a shot! Basshunter can be found on iTunes as well if you prefer downloading music.

Luke Bryan is a fresh, young, country artist that is blending old school country with pop beats. His latest single “Rain is a Good Thing” makes you want to drive with the windows down and the stereo up. His songs are perfect for summer weather with bonfires and friends. It’s easy to listen to and will always put a smile on your face. Luke Bryan’s musical style is similar to other pop-country singers such as Jason Aldean and Keith Urban. Because of its acoustic guitar and straight singing sound, it differs from pop singers like Adam Lambert. Dan Milliken of Country Universe.net says that “this guy actually has something”. Dan and I are on the same page. Luke Bryan definitely has a lot to offer. Recently he did a cover of One Republic’s “Apologize”. Country Weekly.com thinks claims it proves not everything is meant to be country. I disagree; I believe that Luke Bryan refreshes the song with country boy flare and a clean voice proving that country singers aren’t all grit. Two songs that are particularly memorable to me are “We Rode in Trucks” and “Rain is a Good Thing”. I enjoy these songs because they remind me of the summer and of the time I spend on the farm, at the fair, and with friends. In my opinion, Luke Bryan is worth our time and money, as you can see by the following nominations.
Currently at the People’s Choice Awards he’s nominated for: Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Song, and Favorite Country artist.

The band that I really love and enjoy to listen to is called Eiffel 65. They are an Italian techno band and pop band. When I listen to this music, it makes me pumped up and excited because it’s not music that brings you down or depressed. MY favorite song from the group is called “Lucky (Lucky in my life)”. It’s not music that has been destroyed by rappers that can’t sing, or teens that think they can sing but are not quite old enough. I do like to listen to other music as well but this group is what sticks out of my head when I think of the word music. Also, it’s a group that is popular but not enough to be totally remembered like AC/DC or Led Zeppelin.
The history of Eiffel 65 is rather interesting. The band consists of mainly three people with the help of some people once and a while. The three main band members are the lead singer: Jeffrey Jey, Keyboardist: Maurizio Lobina, and the DJ: Gabriele Ponte. The group released its first album called “Europop” in 1999 and it became a huge hit in the U.S. in 2000. There was one song that truly made the band famous really fast, it’s called “I’m Blue”. The song was also there first music video. So many people loved and wanted the song that they started to pick up the CD as soon as they could. After people listen to the CD, two other songs became extremely popular. The first one was “Too Much of Heaven” then it was “Move Your Body”. A few years later they came out with a new album that was less known, it was called “Contact”.
When 2005 came around the DJ decided he wanted to go solo and make his own music. The other two members were sad when he chose to do what he did but that didn’t stop them from making music. The two made a new band called Bloom 06. I wasn’t too happy about this but there was nothing anyone could do. I like Bloom 06 but it wasn’t the same as Eiffel 65. So, a few years, 2010 came. I became extreme happy about what happened in June of 2010. The old DJ came back and the group Eiffel 65 is back together again. In the end I just love this group. Their music is really good if you love techno and like to have a upbeat music group.

Known mainly for his role as Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi, Drake (born Aubrey Drake Graham on October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) stepped out as a rapper and singer with major pop beat in 2006, when he recorded a series of mix tapes. His collaboration with Trey Songz in the song Replacement Girl was his breakthrough. Later on Drake singed with Young Money Records, made some remixes to many songs and is now known as the world’s most influential rapper. Drake’s music is mellow and very calming, but it also has a sick beat. He was really misinterpreted at first because he is a light skinned guy from Ontario Canada and wasn’t really taken serious at first, but ended up proving a lot of people wrong. His music makes you think and relates to almost everybody’s life story. He raps, "Sweatpants, hair tied, chillin' wit' no makeup on / that’s when you're the prettiest, I hope that you don't take it wrong." Spin Magazine describes this song as “Toying with slickly emo sentiments without appearing out of step with commercial trends, Drake opened up an enormous young female fan base” and I don’t think they could have described it any better. These lyrics came from his song called “Best I Ever had” and this song states that the girl in the song is basically the best there ever is. In this song drake makes women feel special and he shows that he treats women with respect even though some people might think that rappers are all about provocative things. Drake would be the complete opposite of Lady Gaga. Her music would make you want to dance, but Drakes lyrics would actually make you think and relate the song to someone or something in your life. I do that most of the time when I listen to one of Drakes songs. I admire Drake because he deals with a lot of people why misinterpreted his work. Some people state that he is just trying to step into Lil Wayne’s footsteps, but he’s actually only trying to make his own path. Lil Wayne is Drakes mentor I will say that, but he would have made it as far either with or without him. In the end, my opinion is that Drake is one of the most talented rappers to step into the music world. His music is most definitely worth the time and money because his lyrics are so sick and beat is out control. Drake will be with us for a very long time and it is basically impossible to get rid of him.

She is the highest selling artist of all time, and the second most successful female Latin singer having sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. Her music is very creative. They convey a feeling of happiness and freedom. The videos of her songs are very creative too. One thing that stands out in all her videos is the way she dances. Shakira is mainly known for her abilities to move her body like nobody else. They way she moves her hips is very exotic. The song “Hips Don’t lie” will give you a little preview of what she can do with her hips. Many are fascinated by her style. She is different from many other pop artists. Brittany Spears and Shakira are very dissimilar. Brittany Spears is like the ultimate American artist, while Shakira is a mixture of all these different types of themes. Shakira performed at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Her song “Waka Waka” turned into a global phenomenon. Shakira has the ability to sing in two different languages, which is very impressing. She also manages to be successful in both. Overall, Shakira is a multitalented woman, who is beautiful inside and outside. I believe her music is amazing and very interesting. It will give you a different feel for music. Everyone should take the time to listen and buy her music.

Eminem has been around in the Rap game for almost 16 years now; he started out rapping in 1995. Eminem’s music is always from the heart, he rap’s mostly about his ex-wife Kim that put him through hell, and about his daughter Hailie. One trait about Eminem’s music that other Rappers don’t have is that he connects with his followers so well, because he speaks the truth and others can relate to him and his life. For instance the album “The Eminem Show” is a perfect example of the type of Rap style Eminem has, and the stuff he brings to his albums. This album is mostly about how his life is a media circus ever since he became famous and about his troubled childhood; his hatred for his parents; his horrible relationship with his ex-wife; Kim, and also his love for his daughter Hailie. For an example of how Eminem relates to his followers better than other Rappers think about these two songs; Eminem – When I’m Gone, where Eminem talks about his life, and his love for his daughter. But, than in the song by Gucci Mane – Lemonade, all he talks about his addiction to money, and how he likes to say “Icy.” A couple songs by Eminem that are particularly memorable are “When I’m gone” because he talks about his daughter an how much he loves her and how he wants to be remembered by her, and that even when he is gone he will be watching her. Also the song “Not Afraid”, Eminem speaks about the stuff that has troubled him in his life and that he is not afraid of it anymore and that he is taking a stand, and that he wants everyone with troubled pasts to come with me. I agree with the critic on billboard.com that said that “The Eminem Show” is essentially holding a pattern, but it’s a glorious one the one that proves Eminem is the gold standard of pop. This album is definitely worth everyone’s time and money. Eminem has touched many lives in his life and has connected with many fans, buy this album and see if he connects with you.

B.o.B’s style of rap grabs people’s attention. His songs just want to make you get up and dance. He is every energetic when he raps. It’s not a regular rap song that is just flat tone but it’s a more creative rap. Just like 50 cent when he brought gangsta rap, B.o.B is bring something from the future which has a lot of hype in to his lyrics. In his debut album 'B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray’ which was a success for him. He had many great songs. No song of his seemed terrible it seemed very great. In his song “Airplanes” which was on the top chart B.o.B showed that he can do anything. In the song it was very creative in a sense that you would want to hear it over and over again. I encourage you to take a listen to it. In his other song “Nothin’ on You” he shows his rap style really effectively. In the L.A. Times they said “It’s a winning single.” I agree it’s a winning single and also a winning album. It’s no wonder everyone is like his style. In the Washington Post said “overwhelm his talents. B.o.B., who produced most of the album, thoughtfully creates tracks to suit the strengths of each guest, with the one constant being his ability to adapt to almost any style.” I agree that B.o.B can adapt to anything. That’s what makes him a great rapper. He has a lot of great stuff coming for us. Overall I agree that 'B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray’ is worth buying. You’ll get hooked to his songs. If you think it’s not worth buying listen to some of his song “Nothin’ on You” and “Airplanes”. You will really love his debut album. I give it a 5 star.

The type of music 30 Seconds to Mars and Linkin Park play is alternative rock. They both play music that is both emotional to the story of their lives. Also being able to sing in an emotional way, which gives their fans a since of connection between the singers and the fans. One song by 30 Seconds to Mars that I like the most is, From Yesterday because it makes me think of the past a lot of things that has happened in my life and the way things have changed today. Another one song is King and Queens, this one I usually like listening to when I go on trips or traveling. It makes you think of the future and it seems like a very inspirational song. 30 seconds to mars compared to other artist such as linkin park is almost in the same area. 30 seconds to mars has a little more emotion into their songs and they are not as much as metal as linkin park is, in some of their songs. The alternative rock artist compared to other artist such as lady gaga or disturbed, they are very far apart from each other. Some of the critics do not like the spacey rock that goes into the lyrics into some of 30 seconds to mars’ songs. I think that it’s pretty cool that they incorporate something different with the same genre of music, but just make it a little more unique than the majority of other artist. For this reason most of their songs are very easy to relate to and you can listen to them over and over without becoming bored. Listening to music is most definitely worth our time and money. I think the part that because to extreme may not be worth the time or money, but for the majority part I think it is. Music is used to soothe the mind, to help with a problem in a person’s life, and is also used for medical purposes. So yes it is worth it.

Skillet is a popular band that was formed in Memphis, TN. This band is more of Alternative CCM Rockers. The feel of the band’s music is full of strength, sadness and to get pumped up. Skillet has some love songs but there not fully love. There’s some guitar soloing in the love songs. First of all, if you compare Hannah Montana to Skillet, then that’s a really big difference. Hannah Montana sings pop and party music. Her music is faster and for people to hang out. Skillet plays strong, loud and hardcore sounds. Another singer that is different than skillet is, Kanye West. Kanye plays slow songs that get you in the mood to dance slow. Skillet on the other hand pays songs that will get you to take your shirt off in the concert and wave it around. One of skillets songs that are pretty good and earned them a lot of money for it is, Awake. Another one of skillets songs that have got their popularity up is named Comatose. On the website Billboard, the song awake is on peak #2. I agree with the critics’ opinions because they explain skillets success and the music that earned them big. Critics say that Skillet has that potential to be the best band out there if they try hard enough. I think this band is worth your time and money because this band is really unique. If you ask anyone on Billboard, you will find out that they could go to the very top of the list. Most people believe that this band has got the talent to be the #1 band on the radio. Another reason why you should spend your time and money on this band is because, they music is strong, hardcore, rock, you can sing to it, and you can play their songs in parties and everyone will start to dance. Another band is know all around the world. That is Nickelback, and they have made themselves knows with their music. Most of their songs are is a lot of movies. Nickelback has a lot of good reviews is a lot of sites. Nickelback is worth your time and money because they have songs that get more then 50,000 views on youtube. If you compare Nickelback to Skillet then the difference is Skillet plays strong music while Nickelbacks plays more lay back music.

Gavin Degraw has a very unique style to his music. He focuses on rock and blues music, with a soulful tone. Most of his music on his latest album deals with relationships and how they work. He sings about the ups and the downs. The audience can tell that the experiences in the songs are real and true to his heart. In his song ‘Cheated on Me’ he talks about being cheated on and he seems sincere and upset about it. Then in the next song ‘More than anyone’ he talks about being there when someone needs you. Gavin Degraw’s music is comparable to that of Ray LaMontagne. They have the same soulful voice. Also, their instrumental talent is about equal. A very memorable song that Gavin Degraw wrote is ‘Follow Through.’ In this song he writes, “So since you wanna be with me, you have to follow through, with every word you say, and I all I really want is you, you to stick around. I will see you every day, but you have to follow through.” He is talking about honesty and being able to be trusted. I think the lyrics are very meaningful. Other critics do not always agree with me. They think that Gavin Degraw is not very original. I believe that he is very original and creative. Critics say that all his songs are similar, but I disagree. I think that his songs just have a theme. The songs are not exactly alike. If you like one of Degraw’s songs it is likely that you will like most of them. I would say that it is worth the time and money to hear Gavin Degraw. He is worth it because he always coming out with great, original songs that he has written. Also, he writes songs from personal experience and the audience will be able to tell that he is the real deal.

One of my favorite singers is Carrie Underwood, also known as America’s Sweetheart. Carrie Underwood isn’t your typical country girl; she’s much more than that. Not only is Carrie a beautiful stylish woman with a lively personality, but she can also sing! A couple of Carrie’s songs that make her stick out from the others are “Before He Cheats”, “Undo It”, and “Temporary Home.” “Before He Cheats” is a song about a woman telling off a worthless man, this shows Carries spunky and fun attitude. Another one of Carrie’s popular songs is “Temporary Home”, this shows her calm loving side and leaves you having the heartbreaking feelings as well . Also, “Undo It” sends everyone an inspiring upbeat message which has you singing it all day long, even after you’ve only heard it once. “She may be America’s sweetheart, but this song unleashes her wild side, and it’s a sure bet country fans will love what they hear,” says Deborah Evans Price, an expert from Billboard.com. Many experts will agree that Carrie Underwood is one of the best and entertaining country singers these days. Overall, Carrie is a gorgeous country singer with a fun, loving personality that many people love. Carrie’s voice and musical talent plus her beauty and wonderful personality make her America’s Sweetheart.

One Republic’s type of music is different from many other bands these days; it’s a very pleasant uptown alternative pop. Their new album “Waking Up” is full of catchy vocals and irresistible instruments with a mini rock sound. Between the pop melodies and meaningful vocals the album evokes many emotions from misery to blissful; their variety interests many people of all ages. My favorite song on their album, “Waking Up”, is “Good Life”; it’s full of uplifting pop melodies and inspiring lyrics. Another one of their songs is “Secrets,” One republic took a different approach and it’s a slower melody that really shows their singing ability. “He's more optimistic on "Good Life," an uplifting pop gem complete with whistles and lighthearted marching drums,” says Kelsey Paine from billboard.com. I couldn’t agree more with her and other critics who also see all the talent and excitement in One Republic. One Republic and their music relate a lot to another alternative pop band, the Fray. Both bands are made up of all boys, with great vocals, and a distinctive beat and sound. One Republic also has similarities to U2 and Coldplay, which are all alternative pop bands made up of all boys. The bands you usually hear on the radio such as Maroon 5, Daughtry, or Black Eyed Peas are nothing like One Republic and there uplifting music. One Republic is just starting to become well-known, but in my opinion it is well worth your money and time to hear their amazing talents and inspirational vocals. Overall, the all male band One Republic is an extremely talented alternative pop band that uplifts people of all ages!

If you are looking for a song with thoughtful lyrics and catchy melody, any of The One Republic’s songs will do. In their latest thought provoking single, “Secrets”, the lead singer-song writer Ryan Tedder, sings about the bands life of fame and how secrets drive the public’s curiosity. Their style of music is definitely cool rock with an indie rock flare causing the notes to grip you by the nerve endings until the song is over. “Secrets” is a song that evokes a break through and a will to make a change. It expresses the frustration of lies, fake answers and only telling people what they want to hear. The lyrics and tone relieve this stress by exclaiming you’re going to drop the walls with a full heroic sounding melody. This song is not like the music of other popular singers such as Lady Ga Ga. “Bad Romance” makes one want to get up and dance around while the One Republic makes want you to feel something real. Both songs have a strong harmony, melody and beat. “Secrets” is all about the build to the chorus and feeling the raw emotion in the lyrics and instruments. Those elements are not present in “Bad Romance”. The first verse of Secrets is the most powerful for me because it made me think back to when I told someone personal information and whether or not I was doing that because I was bored and I was hoping to stir the pot a little. The Chanticleer says that the songs on their debut album “show great promise for One Republic” and I absolutely agree. One Republic is worth our time, money and support. They’ve shown that they don’t give up, even after being dropped from their first label. They are putting all the right sounds together with power lyrics and there is no way to go wrong with that combo. They are just starting out with a bright future ahead.

Singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor, Jason Derulo has no boundaries when it comes to music. He is one of my favorite pop and RNB artist. Jason is 20-year –old born in Miami Florida. Jason Derulo started writing when he was 8 years old. He wrote his first song called “I got a crush on you” it was about a girl named Amy. Derulo had a huge crush on her. He didn’t have money to buy her something, instead he wrote a song for her. This is where it all began for my favorite artist. At 16 Jason posed as a song writer to get producers attention. He wrote for big artists like Birdman, Lil Wayne, and P. Diddy. Derulo dreams of becoming a famous singer came true. Jason Derulo’s first song “Whatcha Say” earned him four weeks in a row on the Pop chart. It climbed to number one on Billboard’s hot 100, Rhythmic and Pop chart. He made five million copies this is a dream come true. Jason Derulo strives of excellent and works hard for young fellow. Derulo’s second single “In My Head,” made him the first male solo artist to score back to back number 1’s on Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart. He made in the chart’s 17-year-history with his first two entries. Derulo second single, “In My Head,” has sold more than three million copies both worldwide. His songs make the viewer feel loved and wanted. Also it makes the viewers more confidence and his songs relate very well to the viewer. Derulo writes about his relationships that make his songs very real to viewers. Many People love his songs and I am one of them. I appreciate his work and enjoy singing along. Jason Derulo’s style is very different when come to other singer. For example, singer Carrie Underwood is completely different than Jason Derulo style of music. Carrie style of music is country and she’s very good at it. I like some of her songs. Jason Derulo and Carrie Underwood are similar when it comes to their background. They both started out with nothing. Carrie got famous on American Idol and Jason got famous posing as a song writer. All this money and fame has not change Jason Derulo’s view in life. I love Jason Derulo’s music and anyone that likes Pop and RNB would enjoy rocking to his songs.

What bands do you think of when you talk about rock music? I bet many of you would think of AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, or The Beatles. Would any of you think of Pink Floyd? Pink Floyd has released some of the best rock songs ever. Some of these songs are “Wish You Were Here”, “Money”, “Comfortably Numb” and “Dark Side of The Moon”. Pink Floyd’s album The Dark Side of the Moon stayed on Billboards Top 200 album chart for 741 weeks. If you haven’t heard any of Pink Floyd’s music I would describe the feel of there main “feel” as chill. Which is pretty much saying it really “flows” nicely, with good lyrics and good instrument selection. Pink Floyd has some slow songs that you could just sit on the couch and listen to all night and just feel like nothing else matters. Some of the emotions from their songs would be happiness (“Money”), loneliness (“Wish you Were Here”) and relaxed (“Comfortably Numb”). When you listen to Pink Floyd you don’t really think about another band. Pink Floyd is very unique in that they didn’t have the deafening guitar and drum solos like AC/DC and Kiss. Pink Floyd’s songs were base more on great meaningful lyrics not just the heavy bashing of instruments. Pink Floyd’s songs “Wish You Were Here” is my favorite song. Its chorus is the most memorable to me.

The chorus is memorable because in every other rock songs from the 70’s you would just hear the same five words with the electric guitar going hard in the back. In “Wish You Were Here”, chorus has a strong meaning and is complimented nicely with and acoustic guitar and piano. The song was a tribute to their lost friend. I would agree with the critics on their album Dark Side of the Moon. Rollingstone.com writer Rob Sheffield said, “Pink Floyd finally achieved peak?like wow man? heaviosity with Dark Side of the Moon, a meditation on death and madness that stayed on the bestseller charts for nearly 15 years.” He called the songs “classics” and I definitely agree with that because Pink Floyd’s music is still popular today over 40 years later. In my opinion Pink Floyd’s music’s quality and emotion can not be touched by any other rock band ever. It is really worth your time to listen to their music, and you’ll feel good after you listen to it.
