At the age 23, Nicki Minaj has come a long way. Being both female and a rapper is not an easy thing, but she managed to take herself from a MySpace page to being on songs with T.I and Trey Songz. She was first discovered by Dirty Money Entertainment CEO Fendi, who heard her ability to freestyle on her MySpace page. With her ability to freestyle and her curves, Fendi thought she was the perfect cover for his DVD magazine, The Come Up. Soon after Fendi, Lil’ Wayne came along and signed her to his Young Money label. Nicki Minaj is known for her “Wonder Women” characteristics. The three elements of her personage are Nicki the Ninja, Nicki the Barbie and Nicki the Boss. Nicki the Ninja is a “Lyrical Assassin”, who can at times be naughty. Second there is Nicki the Barbie, who loves pink and fun loving, imaginative girl. And then there is Nicki the Boss who is the businesswomen who likes to think outside the box. These Three characters help define who Nicki is, an in charge, fun loving, business women. With these characteristics Nicki has been able to climb to the top quite fast. When comparing Minaj to Lady Gaga, they are actually quite the same. They both have out there personalities and styles. Both Nicki Mina and Lady Gaga like to go for the shinny skimpy clothing. They both can to fame fast and have held there places by being outrageous and by keeping their fans guessing what they are going to do next. The difference between them is that Nicki is into more rap and hip-hop and Lady Gaga is into more pop and hip-hop. Nicki Minaj’s mix tapes are what bought her to the top; she made over a million on her mix tapes which no one female rapper has ever done before. A lot of critics like to compare Nicki’s music to Lil’ Kim’s because of how hard core and honest their lyrics are. While Nicki has been feathered on many artists’ songs, her first album is set to come out at the end of November 22. Many critics describe Nicki Minaj as a person who can “have their cake, and eat it too” and I agree 100%. She had climbed her way to the top and now she deserves the chance to enjoy it.
