The King’s Speech is a British film taking place in 1939. Colin Firth plays King George VI who deals with a stammer, which he finds very difficult to cope with. Helena Bonham Carter plays his wife, Queen Elizabeth, who seeks help for her husband’s stammer. She comes across Lionel Logue, an Australian speech therapist who is played by Geoffrey Rush. At first King George VI isn’t very thrilled on the idea but throughout the movie the men become friends working together. A cliffhanger arises when King George’s brother abdicates the throne, so he is left to make the radio broadcast on Britain's declaration of war on Germany. The movie director, Tom Hooper couldn’t have done a better job choosing the actors and actresses he did. Colin Firth was absolutely phenomenal in this movie. He really got into the role and he made the film so much more moving. Helena Bonham Carter also did an amazing job as well. She brought a lot of vast emotions into the film, which made it more realistic. Finally, Geoffrey Rush was my personal favorite character in the movie. His character was truly brilliant and a very kind man. Geoffrey couldn’t have done a better job in making his characters presence on screen feel so heartwarming and influential. One specific scene in the movie which I believe is a major theme is when Lionel and the king are going back and forth yelling at each other. The king screams, “Because I have a right to be heard!” Lionel replies, “Heard as what?” The king exclaims, “A man! I HAVE A VOICE!!!” Lionel replies with my favorite line, “Yes you do. You have such perseverance, Bertie, you’re the bravest man I know. And you’ll make a bloody good king.” This scene I believe is the most powerful and beautiful moment in the film. It shows the overall theme of the movie and how no matter what kind of disability or hardship you are going through; having perseverance can go a long ways. This film has been worldly praised by critics for its fantastic actors, visual style and art direction. The King's Speech won seven British Academy Film Awards and won four Academy Awards. My overall opinion of this movie is to go and see it. It’s one of the most influential and touching stories I’ve heard of. It’s a real eye opener and you won’t be disappointed.

Once upon a time, there was Buddy the elf (Will Ferrell) human or a human raised by elves. He climbed into Santa’s bag on Christmas Eve night when he was a young child. Then he was raised by elves and taught the elf way of life. He wasn’t as good as all the other elves and everyone else knew something was wrong. Then he started growing up and getting bigger and bigger. The one day he found out he actually was a human he set off to find his real dad Walter Hobs (James Caan) who is on the naughty list. So buddy walked all the way from the North Pole to New York. He traveled through the sea of swirly twirly gumdrops and walked through the candy cane forest. When he arrived in New York his dad didn’t believe buddy was his son. Buddy struggled to fit into the real world because he still thought he was an elf in the North Pole. Will Ferrell played buddy the elf I thought he was perfect for this part because Will Farrell is a very funny guy and that’s what buddy the elf is. James Caan played Walter Hobs Buddies dad, I thought he was good for this part because at first he was an angry pissy guy but at the end he was a very happy person. Buddy the elf was a very funny character who was gullible and thought he was an elf I the real world. Papa elf was a good narrator, because he told the whole story in a very understandable way. Walter Hobs was a grumpy old man that only cared about his work and not a lot about his family. The theme of this is to always have faith in yourself and believe in yourself. In the article top Christmas movies elf was number one. I agree with this article because it is one of my favorite Christmas movie because it’s about Christmas and its very funny. I would recommend this movie and it is defiantly worth your time and money.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a classic holiday film that families love and enjoy! It’s about the town of Whoville and all the whos getting ready for Christmas. But there is a who who doesn’t like Christmas at all, The Grinch. The Grinch lives at the top of a mountain and stays away from all whos. The Grinch hates Christmas and hates listening to all their singing and holiday cheer. So he plans to steal Christmas! But there is a curious young who named Cindy Lou who is not afraid of the Grinch at all. She tries to have the Grinch be a part of their Christmas cheer. Jim Carey played the Grinch. I think he did a wonderful job using different voices to bring the character to life. Taylor Momsen played the role of the little who Cindy Lou. She did a fabulous job of playing Cindy Lou by keeping in character very well. The Grinch is the main character of the story. He is a green thing that lives at the top of the mountain in Whoville with his dog Max. He is a grumpy, mean, and lonely guy who hates Christmas! His dog Max is a very smart dog that cares a lot about others unlike the Grinch. Cindy Lou is a very sweet, curious, little girl. She questions many things and isn’t afraid of the Grinch at all. She doesn’t see why everyone else is, he is just a who after all. The main theme in this movie is don’t judge someone by what’s on the outside, but what’s in the inside. Just like how Cindy Lou didn’t judge the Grinch because he was different from all the other whos. In the article Most Popular Holiday Movies, How the Grinch Stole Christmas was in the top 10. I agree with this article that this film is definitely one of the top holiday movies. It is one of my all-time favorite movies to watch during the Christmas season. I would recommend this movie to any family to watch during the holiday season! It is definitely worth your time and money!

Office Space is a movie about working in a cubicle all day and how it crushes the spirit. When the movie opens, we see the main character, named Peter (Ron Livingston), being told by his supervisor (Gary Cole) that he had forgotten to put a cover sheet on a report. Peter tells him that it was a silly mistake and it wouldn’t happen again. Shortly after the obnoxious supervisor walks off, another supervisor strolls up saying the same thing, followed by another. This movie is basically a satire of cubicle office employment. At the office Peter has two friends, Michael Bolton (David Herman), and Samir (Ajay Naidu) who flee the office to Starbucks with Peter often for coffee breaks. For them Starbucks sells escapes from the office, not coffee. While at Starbucks they discuss how Peter’s girlfriend is cheating on him and that she wants to go to an “occupational hypnotherapist”, they also decide to plant a virus in the company’s network once Samir and Michael get fired due to downsizing. The virus is programed to take a fraction of a penny from each digital transaction, represented in the virus as a decimal. The plan works, but way too well because they end up putting the decimal in the wrong place. The three friends become worried once they find a ridiculously large amount of money in their account and start trying to think of ways to give it back without going to prison. During his session with the occupational hypnotherapist he gets hypnotized into not caring, before the doctor can snap him out of the daze he has a heart attack. Peter is stuck as completely careless and decides to stop going to work and somehow keeps his job while his friends are fired. I agree with the critics opinion of it being a good movie, it’s very funny and I highly recommend watching it yourself.

Moulin Rouge! Is a movie from the year 2001 directed by Baz Luhrmann. It is based on the Orphean myth, La Traviata and La Boheme. The story of Moulin Rouge! Takes place in 19th century Paris in a cabaret with courtesans and can-can dancers. The story starts out at the ending with British poet/writer Christian (Ewan McGregor, Star Wars I, Star Wars II) sitting at a type writer, mourning the loss of his true love. The plot centers on Christian who moves from London to Paris to become a writer in the Bohemian Culture. One day while in his apartment room he is sitting at his type writer, when a guest from the resident living above him crashes through the ceiling of his apartment. That is when he meets Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (John Leguizamo, Romeo + Juliet) whom is currently working on an unfinished script for a play. After catching a glimpse of Christian's talents in writing, he asks him for help with his unfinished script. Christian rejects his Toulouse's offer after seeing a quick flashback of his father telling him that he'll just waste his life away in Paris. Toulouse eventually convinces Christian to help him with his script by asking him if he believes in the bohemian ideals of truth, beauty, freedom and love.
After convincing Christian for help with the script, Toulouse and his group of bohemian artists take Christian to the Moulin Rouge so that they can convince Harold Zidler (Jim Broadbent, Topsy Turvey) the owner of the cabaret Moulin Rouge. At the Moulin Rouge Christian meets the terminally ill courtesan Satine (Nicole Kidman, Batman Forever) and falls in love with her.
In this movie Nicole Kidman puts on a good performance as the courtesan Satine, whose character is someone searching for a better life and dreams of becoming an actress but when she meets the ever love searching Christian she has to choose between true love and her lifelong dream of becoming an actress.
The theme in this movie pretty much questions the audience if they would give up their dreams in order to keep newfound true love.
Some critics have labeled this film as one you will either love or hate depending on if you liked Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet. The first time I saw this film I actually fell in love with it and I'd recommend it to any lover of tragic musicals

The bucket list is a great example of a character driven movie. Corporate billionaire Edward Cole and mechanic Carter Chambers have nothing in common except for the fact that they both have terminal illnesses. They share a hospital room and escape and do everything on their bucket lists before they die. Throughout their journey they find out who they really are as people and build an amazing friendship together. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman are the main actors in the film and they both do an amazing job. Morgan Freeman plays Carter Cole, he has a family and works as a mechanic, but he is extremely intelligent. Jack Nicholson plays Edward Cole who owns many hospitals and is very successful in life. Edward is also very cocky and sarcastic while Carter is practical and cautious. I think the theme in the movie is to live each day like you won’t see it again because one simple thing can change your life and you could be dead. You can’t take anything for granted or think something won’t happen to you because it could happen to anyone. I agree with critic Andrea Tuccillo when she says the travel locations aren’t done well and look ‘laughably fake” because they do. But I disagree when she says it’s a bad story because I think it has a great plot. I also disagree with Roger Ebert when he says it has a bad plot to it. I think that this movie shows what two people would do if they had the chance to do anything before they died and most people don’t get the chance to do these things so I think this film showed them well. This movie had a great story line, with sad and happy parts, and an extremely sad ending, overall I would say it’s worth your time and money.

A man who is hired to extract men from within a dream within a dream into another dream. Not to steal items but ideas, by doing that he can then put himself into the deep subconscious of his targets leading him to hack what the best hackers cannot possibly do in the world of espionage. He later is to accept one more mission, not to steal ideas but only to plant one to manipulate his target how he wants to. Lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio also known as Cobb in the movie is the ultimate weapon known in the field that he works in. Followed by his leading partner Arthur who is played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Both these actors fit together like none other, they perform and execute every word every movement with grace, it seem as if it isn’t a movie but a real situation in real life. When Cobb loses everything he now must find a way to get back what he needed and to do that he finds people to help him. He then hires a college girl who is the best at architecture whose name is Marion Cotillard. She then realizes what Cobb is trying to do so she tries to stop him before it’s too late. According to Collider review this movie is not exhausting but exhilarating. Although all the thought that is need in this movie and much needed attention this movie will make you think like no other making it one of the best movies out there. I think it is worth our time and our money because it will leave you thinking about the un natural and what would happen if someone were to be able to get onto our dreams.

Dear John is one of my favorite movies, by far. The main character, John (Channing Tatum) is in the military and he meets this college student while he is on his leave. Savannah (Amanda Seyfried), is on her spring break and while she’s at the ocean she loses her purse in the water and John witnesses and jumps after it. They spend all their time together on John’s leave, and they suddenly fall deeply in love with each other. John then has to deploy again after the events of September 11th. Along with John, Savannah has to leave to go back to college. John and Savannah write letters back and forth the time that John is gone, but it tends to take a toll on their relationship. John truly loves this girl and would do anything for her. John expects that true will wait, especially for him when he gets back. He waits on her letters and looks forward to them because that’s what keeps him company on his deployment and he has something to look forward to when he gets home. Savannah seems like she would be a strong girl, and thinks so herself but after a period of time of her love being gone, she realizes that she’s not a strong as she thought she was. One thing that I and others can take away from this movie is that true love will wait for you, no matter how tough things get. I disagree when the critics say “it’s like a bad soap opera”. It resembles real life because we see these hardships with real people and what happens to john happens to many guys in real life. The critics compare this movie with The Notebook, and I think that Dear John beats The Notebook by far. This movie really reflects a real life relationship and is not a fantasy movie that makes things out to be what they are not. Dear John is with worth your time, money, and tissues.

In the movie The Lord of the Rings, the plot throughout the sequel is when a designated Group of warriors come together to protect a hobbit who possesses a ring that needs to be destroyed. They travel to many different places to get to a place they call Mordore, where the ring can be destroyed. The main character is a hobbit named Frodo; he’s the one carrying the ring throughout the journey. Then there’s Aragon, he’s one of the warriors that guard Frodo.
Gandalf is the wise wizard who guides the group to their destination. Legolas, he’s the expert archer in the group. Gimmly, is a hobbit also and an expert axe man in the group. All these characters in the movie going on the adventure are reliant on each other and help one another out in order to survive. Their motivation comes from the thought of destroying the ring; they’ll do and go through whatever it takes to destroy the ring.
A good theme the audience can take away from the movie would be work hard for what you want in life.
Most people say “It’s a really good movie to watch because it’s very entertaining and has a good plot to the whole sequel”. Others say “The movies are too long” and “Throughout the movie some scenes don’t make sense”. I’d have to agree with the positive feedback because I used to watch The Lord of the Rings all the time when I was younger. i still watch them today if there ever on TV. I disagree with the negative feedback because I’ve never heard that the movies are too long or some scenes don’t make sense. My overall opinion on The Lord of the Rings is that there great movies to watch, because there entertaining, romantic, thrilling, and suspenseful. I think the movie is worth the time and the money to watch for all types of people, because the movie has all the characteristics to a good movie.

Arguably one of the best sports movies in history, the film Rocky has captivated audiences time and time again. This movie brings to life the hardships of life in the late 70s in Philadelphia. The story follows the life of a deadbeat boxer named Rocky. Going nowhere in life, Rocky performs odd jobs to make a living. However, his true passion is boxing. He works out at his local boxing arena and fights in local boxing bouts. His style is extremely rough but Rocky’s raw talent gets him through fights. Rocky’s big break comes when the Undisputed Heavy Weight Champion, Apollo Creed, decides to challenge a low level boxer to gain fans and support. Creed chooses Rocky because of his nickname, the Italian Stallion. Overnight, Rocky became the hero of Philadelphia and the dream story that the nation thrives off.
In Rocky, Sylvester Stallone plays the role of Rocky. This was a genius casting option because Stallone nailed the part. With Stallone’s rugged appearance and willingness to dive into the role, audiences could believe that Sylvester was an actual boxer. He played Rocky as a man who was motivated to give his best whenever he could and prove himself to other. Stallone has a weird way of talking that makes it sound like he has already taken one too many punches to the head. Granted that this movie was written by Stallone, no other actor could have pulled off this role in the same way.
In this film, an overlaying theme of determination and perseverance is shown. Rocky never gives up on himself even when people say he should throw in the towel. Rocky fights on to the end because if he hadn’t, he wouldn’t be happy with himself. Also, Rocky trained to the Apollo Creed fight as hard as he could, even though his odds of winning were nearly zero.
I agree with Roger Ebert’s rating and review of this movie. He gave the movie four out of four stars and said that “it involves us emotionally, it makes us commit ourselves: We find, maybe to our surprise after remaining detached during so many movies, that this time we care.” This captures the entity of Rocky. This movie will capture the heart of any viewer as it did with the Academy; winning Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Editing and being nominated for a total of 10 awards. If you haven’t already, go out and buy Rocky. This movie should be a part of any movie collection.

Aladdin, a poor “street rat,” is the main character of the animated Disney movie Aladdin. He has no family and must survive on his own by stealing food, but he dreams of a rich life. The story begins with the boy and his pet monkey, Abu, stealing food for their breakfast. Because of a misunderstanding among the guards, Aladdin in captured and taken to prison for supposedly “kidnapping” the Princess. While in prison, Aladdin meets an old man who tells of a great treasure. They escape the prison and head into the desert, to the Cave of Wonders. Aladdin enters and finds a magic lamp, from which pops a Genie, voiced by Robin Williams, who immediately sings an upbeat song about the possibilities of the three wishes Aladdin gets. The film continues, showing how Aladdin tries to use his three wishes to become rich, woo the Princess, and fight the Sultan’s evil advisor, Jafar. Aladdin is filled with humorous moments, catchy tunes, and memorable characters. The character of Aladdin is primarily motivated by money for the beginning of the movie, but later he’s mostly motivated by love. Towards the end, he tries to make decisions based on what is right. Aladdin is voiced by Scott Weinger, and his singing voice is done by Brad Kane. Weinger gives his character more personality and makes him more realistic. For example, when Aladdin is talking about the Princess, his voice gets all dreamy and he sounds happy. In an interview with Weinger, he said that he could see himself in Aladdin in that scene every time he watches the movie, so Weinger definitely lends his own personal touches and emotions to the character. A large percentage of critics praised the film for Robin William’s performance, stating that he gave the film more humor for people of all ages. However, some critics called the characters “cookie-cutter” and the film “totally by the numbers”, with no surprises in the plot. I disagree; I think that the film is a Disney classic and it can be as cookie-cutter as it wants. It works for an animated Disney film. With these kinds of movies, I feel that it’s okay if it’s following a storyline that might be a bit predictable, because it’s mostly meant for younger children anyways.

The Blind Side is an inspirational film that was a huge success. It is based on a true story of, Michael Oher “Big Mike”, a professional football player for the Baltimore Ravens now. Michael Oher was an teenage African-American boy who had nowhere to live until Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy let him stay in their house. He didn’t have much schooling and Leigh Anne made sure he got a good education once he was living with them. The family saw that Big Mike was very interested in football, so the family helps him pursue his dream to become a football player. He tries for an NCAA Division 1 scholarship and wants to pursue a football career. The movie is an inspirational, fun-loving film that was a huge hit. Sandra Bullock was extraordinary in the film. She played the character perfect and there was no complaints about her from critics. Quinton Aaron, who play Michael Oher executed his part very well and made you feel pain about what his character went through. Jae Head played S.J. Tuohy, Michael’s “brother”, who helped Oher succeed in his football career. He played the part perfectly; he was a goofball and just a fun-loving character. Something to take away from the film is even if you start out with nothing doesn’t mean you can’t achieve greatness. Also, nothing is impossible if you believe you can do something you love. I completely agree with the critics. All the reviews I saw were good and this movie was very good and inspirational. I would say it is worth your time and money, it is great for the whole family and has a great story to tell.

Sweet Home Alabama is by far my favorite romance movie. My brother actually makes fun of me because I watch it so often. Reese Witherspoon, who plays Melanie Carmichael in this movie, is a successful New York fashion designer and she is dating the wealthy, Andrew Hennings, who is the mayor’s son. Finally, Andrew asks Melanie to marry him, and she accepts, even though she has some unfinished business to finish in her hometown. Andrew doesn’t know that Melanie is still married to her childhood sweetheart. So, Melanie has to go back to her hometown of Alabama. Melanie’s husband, Jake (Josh Lucas), never agreed to legally end their marriage, so she has to fight him for a divorce. The more time Melanie spends in her hometown, the more she questions the life she is now living. She has a lot to think about while she is home in Alabama. Melanie is a feisty, determined, and strong willed character. I won’t spoil the end for you, so I’ll leave it at that. In a review I read, it said, “It’s a film that people will go see because of Reese Witherspoon.” Witherspoon does a wonderful job of playing the sweet southern character of Melanie Carmichael. Some reviews said that this movie is too predictable. I somewhat agree with this, but the rest of the movie makes this worth watching because it is a true romance. A theme that could be taken away from this movie might be to not lose who truly are. Once Melanie is back in Alabama she really isn’t sure if she likes who she has become. She also learns that in the end, you have to do what you need to do to make you happy. Now, is this movie worth your time and money? I’d say so, but only if you are a woman. I can’t see too many men enjoying this movie, but you never know. If you enjoy sweet romance movies, then I would give this movie a try.

Will Smith is most definitely my favorite actor, and I have seen almost all of his movies. The one I enjoy watching most are Bad Boys I and Bad Boys II, Independent Day, and also The Pursuit of Happiness. Especially the movie I am a Legend, which is a fiction story based on a man named Dr. Robert Neville (Will smith) who is the only human survivor left in Manhattan, NY, due to a deadly virus spread. The story of this movie is adapted from previous sci-fi novel called The Last Man on Earth, and Omega Man. At the start of movie, it shows Dr. Neville and his wife and child being evacuated along with other people whom some are infected and some are not. Dr. Neville is a U.S army so his duty is to stay back and make sure everybody is being evacuated. But he also wants to stay because he doesn’t want to leave that area, which he calls it ground-zero. The only thing that keeps Dr. Neville Company is his dog Samantha. They are both alone but not exactly because at sunset, the infected people who turned into zombies come out to look for food. So the only thing that keeps them save is their house. The house is protected by heavy steel shutters. They only go out during day time when the sun is high, and they have to come back before sunsets, so the zombie’s don’t track them down. But one day Dr. Neville runs into a trouble when he falls into a trap that the zombies made, which blacked him out for hours before he heard Sam’s barking and woke up. The only problem is that he is hanging upside down with a rope. Later he manages to free himself. Soon after that two infected dogs attacked because the sun was going down. Sam was bite by one of them. So I really think that this is movie is a must see movie if you haven’t seen already. Will Smith is the perfect character to play this movie along with his dog Sam. There is humor in this movie and it is very tense. A lot of critics have mixed feelings about the end. Some may think it was a bad ending, while I say it was great ending, but recommend you see it for yourself and see how you feel it about it. And I can assure you that you will leave the movie theater somewhat satisfied if not fully, so go and see it ASAP!

Another one of my favorite movies is called “Wyvern”. A small Alaskan town is under attack by a flying reptilian creature called a Wyvern. It had awakened from its ancient slumber from the melting ice caps due to global warming. Will the small town survive? One of the better actors in the movies is Nick Chinlund. Who played Jake a trucker who was waiting for his new truck. He had lost his other one along with his brother (it might have been his friend I am not sure which). He blames himself for what happened. He played the part very well. Well they all have one of the same motivations which are to survive. Well the theme that I think it is. Is teamwork working together to survive. If they do not they will not survive. I disagree with the critics’ review it was a great movies. The monster was not silly. It was one of the most realistic dragons in all of the movies that have dragons in them. I believe that “Wyvern” is a hit not a miss. I believe that this movie is worth the money and time to watch it. Definitely if you love monster moves!

One movie I always enjoyed watching was Takers. Takers is a movie about a group of guys who made a living off robbing banks and armored trucks. They make one major heist each month, and are good at what they do. Police detective have no idea who they are because they complete each heist in less than 10 minutes. One of the main characters is Ghost. He was just released from prison because he was captured in a previous heist. He meets up with the rest of the gang, and fills them in on what would be the biggest heist yet. They plan to rob an armored truck, but have a little trouble along the way when a dedicated detective is on their trail. They all don’t trust Ghost at first. They had some problems with him in the past. He just got out of prison and wants revenge on the crew because they owed him money. But they decided to put the past behind them. The Actor who plays Ghost is Clifford Harris otherwise known as T.I. This was his second major role in film. He played an excellent role as Ghost and made the movie great. Ghost is a greedy person he only cares about himself, and could care less about what happens to the rest. He does some things throughout the movie that are looked down upon on the rest. His only goal is to make the most money he can in each heist, and would do anything to get it. This movie was a great movie filled with action, and cop chases. It also has tons of shooting scenes. All the actors in the movie play an excellent role from Clifford Harris to the detective. I give this movie 5 out of 5. It is worth your time, and money.

Another movie that I enjoyed watching was Aristocrats. This is a famous movie that many families have seen. When you are young and watching a Disney movie you do not see that the film is a character driven movie. In this movie there is a mother cat named Duchess, she lives in a home with a very wealthy lady. Duchess has three kittens that run around the mansion wildly. During the beginning of the movie the kittens are kidnapped and are thrown onto the streets of Paris. Throughout the film it is a fight for Duchess to get back her kittens. During the film there is an ally cat named Thomas O’Malley who helps fight to get the three kittens home safe. Duchess is shown to worry a lot and be very protective. Mr. O’Malley is a character that is shown to be very adventures and brave. I would recommend this film to any child or family who has not seen it. Aristocrats is a great film that anyone will love.

The British movie Bend It Like Beckham, created by Fox Searchlight Pictures in 2002, won the Special Recognition for Excellence in Filmmaking Award in 2003. This movie is mainly about how a teenage girl named Jess has to make one of the biggest decisions in her life. She has to make a choice between pursuing her dream of becoming a soccer star, or following the traditions of her Indian family. Jess’s ultimate idol is David Beckham, a player on the Manchester United soccer team. Jess strives to achieve his success but always has doubts in the back of her mind. Jess, played by Parminder Nagra, ends up meeting her best friend named Jules, played by Keira Knightley, who also shares a passion for soccer. Jess and Jules surprisingly fall head over cleats for their soccer coach during the season, which greatly tests their friendship. Jess eventually has to prove her devotion to her best friend, her family, and most importantly, herself. The major theme shown in this movie is what happens when you bend the rules to follow your dreams. I agree with most of the other critics reviews because I really liked this movie, and it used to be my top favorite when I was younger. Overall, I would recommend this movie to pretty much anyone, because of how inspiring it truly is.

Released on in December 19, 2000, the movie Finding Forester is a great example of a character based movie. The main character Jamal Walker is a young African American teen who loves to write, but is held back because the circumstances of his life. Restrictions hold Rob back from expressing himself truly. During the beginning of the movie Rob notices an old white man watching them every day as they play basketball. Jamal was told by his friends to rob this old man, willingly he accepts. The night he decides to execute this was a bad decision solely because the old white man was awake. Once Jamal realizes he is awake he bolts out of his apartment and drops his backpack and in his backpack is his writing journal and school stuff. Jamal eventually builds up the confidence to retrieve his stuff. When he gets to the apartment and gets his stuff and realizes it was messed with but how? This old white man (Sean Connery) gave him notes on his journal. Why?
Sean Connery’s character is played perfectly. His mysterious being is a perfect role for Sean. Mr. Connery is a great example of a solo driving writer and how he is like kept to himself for all that time. On the other hand Jamal’s character was a little shaky I believe it could have been played better but it was still pretty good. Based on the website Rotten Tomatoes critics gave this movie a 6.5/10. I don’t agree with this I think it should have gotten a 7.5 or 8 out if 10. Finding Forrester won 4 different awards. This movie I believe is worth buying, it has a excellent plot and even better actors. In result I would recommend either buying or watching the movie. It was enjoyed thoroughly by me.

Stepbrothers, is that type of comedy that will constantly keep you entertained throughout the whole movie. With its witty nonsense and its pg-13 humor it excels to the top as one of the funniest movies of 2008. Stepbrothers; is about two 30 year-old men who still live with their parents. They start off not liking each other but after many nights of living in the same room they end up liking each other because they notice that they have a lot in common.
Will Ferrell, who stars as Brennan, makes this comedy more enjoyable for families. He has a way of making people laugh over the dumbest, most childish things ever. He gets so into character it’s as if he really forgot about reality. Other movies that star Will Ferrell always tend to be a funny movie. John C. Reilly, who stars as Will Ferrell’s step-brother, brings the movie to a whole another level. His goofy charismatic personality makes the movie even funnier. Will Ferrell’s character was a goofy, really funny character. He is considered an over-grown child because of how he acts. One particular scene where he shows his dedication was when he got kicked out of his house, he ended up getting a job and became really good at it. Even after all the doubts from his family he stuck through it and continued to excel. John Reilly is exactly the same as Will. They are best friends for a reason, which was that they had so much in common. Everything one liked the other would like it as much.
A theme that can be taken from this movie is that anyone can do whatever they want if they put their minds to it.
Critic’s acclaim that Stepbrothers was a smashing hit. As of January, 2010, this movie has grossed over $100,468,793 domestically, and an additional $28 million internationally. I agree with the review because I could see why this funny movie would be a box office hit. This movie is something I would recommend to people because I consider this a good pg-13 movie that many parents would laugh to with their kids. So time and money would be worth it all.

Friends with Benefits, was a very good movie that I really enjoyed watching. It’s a movie that you are dying to see the next scene. Justin Timberlake played Dylan in the movie did a very good part as well as Mila Kunis played as Jamie in the movie. As Dylan gets a free business trip to New York to meet a person to sell him the job to be a Director of a web site, instantly takes the job after having Jamie embarrass herself in the Airport while waiting for him. They become “Best Friends” so they say and they placed their hands on a bible app on her ipad agreeing that they will just be “Best Friends” after agreeing that relationships are not worth it. The theme in this movie is very sexual, emotional type. Jamie tried dating a guy and playing the 5 date game and getting used made her think the same as every other girl towards guys. I Disagree on a lot of peoples reviews, they had some reviews that really made no sense and I 100% agree that this movie was pretty good I would rate it 4 out of 5 versus 1 out of 5 because its fake, well most movies are not based on a true story so they need to get over it and realize that it is just a movie. I think this movie is worth the time and money. There is plenty of other times I have wasted doing nothing and this movie can really make you think about stuff, when your waiting for the next scene after she walked off from the family of Dylan’s, you knew why but he didn’t and it just can get to you.

The Truman Show is a great example of a character driven film. The entire plot revolves around the main character, Truman Burbank, and his daily life. Truman has been living a lie. Since birth he has lived in the fake city of Seahaven, with no one but actors to play the roles of father, mother, friend, neighbor, grocer, etc, all the while being streamed live to every household in America through their TV’s. And here’s the twist; Truman is ignorant to all of it. He doesn’t know any differently. Through his eyes, he is a perfectly normal Insurance salesman, living in small town, USA, with a great wife, and good friends. Jim Carrey’s performance as Truman is unforgettable. He makes the character lovable and relatable to millions of people. As for the character of Truman himself, his catchphrase says it all, “Good morning! And in case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!” He is the eternally optimistic type. He is kind and caring to those around him, and he is the friend you would always want next to you. He is always happy and good for a laugh or two. Overall, Truman is the “all American” guy who is easily likeable. There are hundreds of themes we could pull from this movie, and many of them relate to the process Truman goes through to discover the truth, but there is an even larger message the audience must keep in mind. This film attacks the importance and prominence of media in our society. We see (rather exaggerated) the influence of media crazes and the people they can hurt in the process. When we begin to dive into people’s lives with video cameras, bad things begin to happen. I agree with critics, this is a movie worth seeing. While being somewhat predictable in the unraveling of the plot, The Truman Show makes you step back and really think about what the media has done to our society (or what we have done to it) and how people are adored through it.

My sisters keeper is about an 11 year old girl named Anna Fitzgerald try’s an find a lawyer to help her earn medical emancipation from her mother Sara wants Anna to donate her kidney to her older sister Kate who has leukemia and Anna was only brought into this world by vitro fertilization to become a donor to her sister watch this movie and see if Anna and Kate got their wish by Anna getting out of giving Kate her kidney. I think Abigail Breslin did a good job on playing Anna Fitzgerald and how he took the law into her own hands and started question what her parents were doing to her and Kate and is that what the tow that had to go throw it is that what they wanted. But I would also have to say Sofia Vassilieva who played Kate was also really good on just excepting that she was ready to die and that’s why she put her little sister Anna up to this because she was ready to be with the love of her life in heaven. I think the motivation for Anna and Kate is that hopefully it will all be over soon and that Kate can stop hurting her sister by having their mom Sara put Anna through all these surgeries even though Anna says it doesn’t bother her I think Kate knows it hurts Anna but Anna just doesn’t want to say anything because Anna knows that she is the only person that can keep Kate alive. I think the audience is supposed to take away in the film that I know moms always think they know best but sometimes I think they just get to caught up in trying to be the hero and keep everything the same that sometimes you just got to stop and ask the person that’s going through the problem what they want to do. The movie never says so, but it's a practical parable about the debate between pro-choice and pro-life and that was said by Chicago sun times which I totally agree with I think that is what this movie is about is pro-life and pro-choice and yes I would recommend you to go and see this movie it makes you think about a bigger picture.

One movie I really enjoyed watching was Dumb and Dumber. This movie is a brilliantly stupid comedy; directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly. Best friends Lloyd (Jim Carrey) and Harry (Jeff Daniels) travel across the country returning a brief case that Lloyd mistakenly picked up. Jim Carrey as always does a very good acting job in all of his videos he is filmed in. This movie will bring Jeff Daniels to life in his acting career. Lloyd is an outgoing goon chasing a woman. The theme in this movie is “your best friends will always stick with you. I do agree with them about the movie. The movie is very good and comedy. This movie is worth the time and money, there is a lot of stuff out there people waste there money and time at so this can be a little more productive.

My Sister's Keeper is one movie that i have enjoyed to watch. This movie has a character driven plot; all movies have a twist or surprise to it. However, My Sister's Keeper is a story with a lesson. Kate Fitzgerald is a middle child and has a sister Anna. Anna and her sister Kate are close; these to sister gain a strong relationship throughout the movie by them facing the struggle of Kate's cancer. Kate has been battling cancer almost her whole life and she is still only a young girl. Anna and Kate's mother, Sara Fitzgerald struggles to keep herself calm about her daughter's battle with cancer. The whole Fitzgerald family deals with the fact that family member is in and out of the hospital with the sickness of her medicine to stop the spread of Kate's cancer. My Sister's Keeper is a movie about a family going through different experiences then other families. Anna and Kate's relationship is shown by the decisions Anna does for their sister to save her life. This film is a movie that shows strengths of the two sisters. Each actor in this film portrayed well to the characters. Anna is a very strong girl; she is young but is very motivated and sets her mind to what she wants. Anna's sister Kate is a very caring young girl. Anna Fitzgerald is battling cancer and strives for her family to have a normal life. Sara Fitzgerald is a mother who tries to keep her family together. When Sara's children and husband explain that, she cannot control what happens with the battle of her daughter's cancer. Not being able to control every situation on Sara's family, it frustrates her. Many critics I read about for My Sister's Keeper said this film was "heartily affected". Critics said this film was an uplifting story. I would agree with what the critics said. My overall opinion is a good movie, I would required this movie so someone who has not seen it. This movie was a great film worth your time.

This movie is all about an elderly retired balloon salesman named Carl Fredricksen, who strives to fulfill him and his wife Ellie’s dream of going to Paradise Falls. Carl’s creative idea is to tie thousands of balloons to his house, which is his most prize possession, and fly there. Unexpectedly, a curious young Wilderness Explorer named Russell is along for the ride. Carl and Russell end up experiencing this whole adventure together, and realize that life’s biggest adventures may not be the ones you expected to take. The actors, Ed Asner and Jordan Nagai play Carl and Russell, the main characters in the movie. They did a great job bringing the movie to life in every way possible. The major theme expressed in this movie would be how the sky is not the limit. I agree with most of other critics reviews because they have about the same opinions in mind that I do. This movie is pretty much my favorite movie of all time, because of how cute it really is. I guarantee you will love this movie, just give it a try!

A character driven movie that I can think about is Saving Private Ryan. This movie portrays a group of soldiers sacrificing everything for the greater good. In the movie, U.S. army soldiers commanded by Tom Hanks, this squad of soldier’s objective was to look for a soldier that all 3 of his brothers were killed. Many of the men sacrificed their lives to locate this man. Eventually they found him after many longs days of pain and suffering.
The movie begins with a scene from D-day, the landing at Omaha beach. The determination to capture the beach was portrayed by many quick decisions and hard work. There was a scene in this part where they were pinned down by mortar and machine gun fire. His decision was to put his sniper in a location to put fire on nest and take down the obstacle. His quick decision to distract the fire by standing out in the open to draw fire so his sniper could relocate to a different location. This I believe was a huge decision and was very brave. Tom Hanks character in the movie Saving Private Ryan is driven to get his objective done. This movie follows the squad through France to find Ryan. Once they found him, the squad was extremely determined to keep private Ryan alive mostly by sacrificing was is most important, their lives. I would agree with the four stars given to the film and would HIGHLY recommend purchasing this amazing movie.

The movie Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift is an action packed movie. Its about nice cars and gangs. In this movie the main character Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) gets moved to a new school and almost gets into a fight on the first day. But then they decide to race there cars when it goes horribly bad and they both crash there very nice cars. Then Sean is sent off to Japan to live with his dad, where he is band from driving cars. There he meets Twinkie (Bow Wow). After that he starts driving and learning the Asian way of driving, drifting. Drifting is where you drive sideways going around corners or obstacles. When it’s done right it is very cool to see. But then Sean (Lucas) gets into trouble by talking to a gang members girlfriend, so they decide to race. Winner gets the girl, and looser leaves town. Sean (Lucas) is determined to teach himself how to drift. He practiced a lot till he got it perfect and wouldn’t give up. Twinkie (Bow Wow) is a smart guy who makes money by selling thing on the street. My overall opinion on this movie is I would highly recommend it to anyone. If you like movies were there is a lot of cars, racing, fighting, guns, and action then this movie is the one to watch.

Wonderland is a recreation based on a true story about the Wonderland Avenue massacre. The movie was directed by James Cocks. He did an amazing job making me feel like I was part of this suspense packed film. The movie is pretty much any typical 70’s based thriller; it’s pretty much about, money, sex, cocaine, and guns. All of these put together in one situation usually ends up with a good old murder in the end, and this film is no exception. The movie starts off with Dylan McDermott playing David Lind in an interrogation room giving an explanation on why the murders happened, and then it brings you to one of the two stars of the film Kate Bosworth playing Dawn Schiller, sitting on the side of the road looking for a ride home. Then later in the film she meets up with the second star of the film Val Kilmer playing the role of the very popular porn star, Johnny Holms. I am not to familiar with the star's other work, but in this movie they totally amaze me. so pretty much the movie goes threw their lives in Hollywood which in the end leads to a horrible blood gruesome massacre. Some critics say the movie was, "boring" or "Theater unworthy", but I disagree, I think the movie is fantastic and watch it at least once a month, and introduces it to all my friends. It is definitely worth the 20 dollars i paid for the dvd, the 7 to see it in the theaters, and the 10 dollars on netflix to watch it on command. This is my number one favorite movie! :)

The Pursuit of Happyness is a fantastic and inspirational movie that brings tears to the eyes of many people who have watched it. This movie takes place in 1981, when a black man named Chris Gardner came from barely anything. Chris Garner lived in a small apartment in San Francisco with his wife Linda and five-year-old son Christopher. They have barely any money left because all of it has been put towards Chris’s high-tech bone density scanners, which he is trying to sell to the health care community. However, selling them isn’t going rather well because they are too expensive for most hospitals to buy. Stress begins to build with money and Linda reaches her breaking point. She ends up leaving Chris and Christopher behind to go to New York. Christ ends up not being able to pay the rent and they end up homeless. If Chris can sell those bone density scanners, then they might have a chance. Chris Garner is played by the phenomenal actor Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith plays Christopher. I feel this movie was even more enjoyable to watch when you know that the two are father and son. You can really see the love and connection between the two and it really brings the movie to life. The theme of the movie is no matter how hard things may seem at the time, there will always be something better to come. You just have to have the perseverance to get it. I completely agree with the critics when it comes to this movie, it’s such an inspirational film that really pushes that any dream is possible. My personal favorite line from the movie is, “You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period.” This line is absolutely brilliant and makes you think about how nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it. This movie is one I would definitely recommend seeing because it will open your eyes to a lot of things you wouldn’t have ever thought about. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

The film Shrek is great fun filled, family movie. It’s about an ogre who lives alone on a swamp and gets rude awakening when his land is filled with fairytale characters one night. The King wanted to buy Shrek’s swamp, but Shrek was not about to lose his quiet swamp. When Shrek confronted the King he made a deal with him, if Shrek brought back the beautiful Princess Fiona for him, The King would let Shrek keep his land. So Shrek set out on his adventure to bring back the Princess for the King. Along the way he was not alone, he met various creatures and people along the way. Mike Myers is the voice of Shrek the main character. I think he did a great job with playing Shrek! He made the character really come to life in the film. Cameron Diaz is the voice of Princess Fiona. She also did a great job in the role of the Princess. Princess Fiona has a lot of different sides to her and I think Cameron did a great job with having her voice work with all those sides of Fiona. Eddie Murphy is the voice of Donkey. Eddie did an amazing job playing the role of Donkey! Eddie is such a funny actor, and Donkey is definitely a funny character so the match was perfect! Shrek is an ogre who loves his privacy and to be alone. Princess Fiona is a beautiful princess who wants to find true love. She has been stuck in a tower all alone most her life and has waited a lifetime for her prince charming to come and save her. Donkey is a hilarious character that loves to talk and sing! He is definitely a lovable character that makes everyone laugh. When watching this film, a main theme is that true love is found in the inside, not the outside. Another great theme is to never give up on what you love. I agree with Elvis Mitchell that Shrek is film that has brought back some of the pop culture. Shrek is a great film that has gave a new type of comedy to our culture. I would definitely recommend this movie; it is a great movie that everyone in family will love!

One of my favorite movies of all time is called Zombieland. This movie is rated R. In a world that zombies have taken over America. A shy and inexperienced college student in Texas has survived by following his 30 rules: such as "look in the back seat," "double-tap," "avoid public restrooms." He decides to travel to Ohio to see if his parents are alive. He gets a ride with a zombie-hating good-old boy headed for Florida, and soon they confront a young woman whose sister has been bitten by a zombie and wants to be put out of her misery. The sisters were headed to an LA amusement park they've heard is zombie free. Will they survive? Out of all of the actors in Zombieland is Woody Harrelson. He played Tallahassee which is a Twinkie maniac who is looking of the last Twinkie. He played the part very well he was hilarious. Well all of the characters are willing to do almost anything to survive in the United States of Zombieland. The theme of Zombieland is how to survive. The audience could take away that working together is better than working alone. I agree with what the critics say about Zombieland that it is very funny. Also that it could gives Shaun of the Dead a run for its money. I strongly think that this movie is worth the time and money. I enjoy this movies a lot and it is my most favorite movie of all time. So I think that it might be you of the best movies ever.

Kick-Ass is a film about everyday people putting on a costume and mask and going out to stop crime. It is based from its comic book predecessor that went by the same title. An unpopular high school student decides that he is tired of being a nobody and goes online to purchase a green jumpsuit. He tests out his ability to fight, which doesn’t go real well the first few times. Eventually Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) teams up with Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) and Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) to take on a big crime boss (Mark Strong). This movie is supposed to be a satire of superhero movies and all around was pretty well done. All of the actors player their parts well, besides the fact that Hit Girl was able to basically “fly” from one bad guy to the other simultaneously annihilation everybody. The theme to this movie is perhaps behave and don’t commit crimes because, even though superheroes probably will not come and jump you, karma will get you eventually. I can see why the critics didn’t enjoy this film, but they absolutely torn it apart. I disagree with what they say about the movie, such as; it is extremely violent, highly unrealistic, and sad. The movie is meant to be violent, it wouldn’t really be satiric without such dramatic elements, and as for realistic… I mean did you honestly expect a realistic movie when you picked this one out? Sounds to me like the writers did it just how they wanted it to be. Kick-Ass may not be the best movie out there but it is certainly not near the worst, I believe that this movie is worth your time and money. It’s just a little something different to watch, and it only costs $1 at a Redbox, so why not?

Seven Pounds is an inspiring film that has many known characters in it and was a huge hit when it was released. Ben Thomas, a guy who has a mysterious, bad past works for the IRS and is out to help people. He is all about going beyond the normal for helping someone. He is hard to figure out with the actions that he commits. At one point, he donates bone marrow to a young boy and in another part he is yelling at a blind man over the phone. Thomas ends up falling for Emily Posa, a girl with heart problems. They start to spend a lot of time together, but while they are doing that Ben Thomas is also helping others on the side. You can never really figure out why he is doing all that until the end. Will Smith played Ben Thomas in the film and was extraordinary. He executed his part very well and got you hooked to his character. Another character was Rosario Dawson, who played Emily Posa in the film. She did an exceptional job and really made you believe her part. She was a lonely girl that just needed someone to come and rescue her, she was able to achieve that role well. In the film, Ben Thomas does some really weird things and makes you think what is his motive on that. One second he does an act of kindness and the next he is hateful. We also know something bad happened in the past, but not exactly what which makes him a mystery. The theme of the movie would probably have to do with redemption or atonement. Love could also be a theme in the movie. Will Smith's character in the movie is trying to find redemption for what happened in his past. I agree with the critics, the movie was well directed and the actors executed it well. It was an interesting plot line and kept you wanting to watch more. I would say that Seven Pounds is worth your time and money. It is full of romance and some mysterious behavior, but in the end it is heartbreaking and you will be left wanting to watch it again.

Set in World War II Germany, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas begins with young Bruno (Asa Butterfield) and his family moving to a new home in the countryside because of his father’s new job. Upon arrival, Bruno sees something strange in the back garden – a large farm tended by people that wear striped pajamas. When Bruno tries to get a closer look, he meets a boy called Shmuel (Jack Scanlon), who works on the farm behind a large fence topped with barbed wire. As Bruno and Shmuel become friends, they find that neither of them truly understand what’s going on in the strange “farm.” Told from the point of view of the innocent eight-year-old son of a high ranking Nazi commandant at a concentration camp, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a moving story that helps the devastation of the Holocaust hit home a little harder. Although the two lead roles were children, they were done very well. Butterfield’s character was a very typical child: curious, inventive, and friendly. These traits led him to investigate the mysterious farm and befriend Shmuel. Bruno’s inventiveness showed when he decided to make a swing out of an old tire to combat the boredom of life in the countryside. Scanlon’s character was more complicated, however. Shmuel endured a lot in his time at the concentration camp: hunger, beatings, and difficult work. These struggles made him more pessimistic, but they also made him long for the carefree playtime that Bruno provided. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is praised by many critics for the effective way that it tells its story and for the remarkable acting abilities of Butterfield and Scanlon. I agree with these critics, but I recommend that younger children not watch this movie because of its serious themes, such as the death of many people in concentration camps and the harsh conditions these people had to face. All in all, I think that this is a great movie and it’s definitely worth the time taken to watch it as it can help give you a better perspective on the tragedy of the Holocaust.

From the entire multitude of movies depicting the coming of age of teens in the 80’s, The Breakfast Club is one of the best. It starts with 5 teenagers from the same high school all receiving Saturday detention for various school violations. The jock, the prom queen, the geek, the medicated neurotic, and the arrogant tough guy, all forced to be in the library together from 8:00-4:00, begin to share about themselves and eventually realize that the stigmas they each had attached to the others were very incorrect. This movie has an all-star cast (at least as young actors in the 80’s) including Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Anthony Michael Hall. They play the parts with excellent precision and a layer of truth that can be hard to achieve. Judd Nelson, acting as John Bender in the film, is the arrogant soon-to-be dropout who acts as though nothing will phase him. Through the movie we see him open up, and learn about some of the adversity he has dealt with in his life, including an abusive father. His desire to mask his frailty by seeming uninterested in even his own life becomes very prevalent. By the end, we understand that he is much more than what he seems. An obvious theme the audience sees throughout the story is that people are more than what they appear. Many times, what we perceive is not the entire picture, if a true estimation at all. Before you allow stigmas and stereotypes to blind you, you must get to know the people around you (and you don’t need a day of detention to do so). Critics agree, The Breakfast Club, however typical and predictable it may be, has a great message and is wonderfully executed. It may be a little old for some viewers taste, but I believe that it is a movie that everyone should see before they get too old to truly appreciate it.

Classic, memorable, genius, all of these words perfectly describe Kevin Smith’s crude comedy, Clerks. This film is about life behind the convenience counter, dealing with the idiots on the other side of the counter. Most would feel that this movie would be a boring idea that makes a bad movie. However, the cleverly laid crude humor and meaningless, in-depth conversations drive this movie. This movie starts at store opening time and follows the day of Dante Hicks and his friend, Randal. These two oddballs deal with the common problems of the working class. Stupid costumers, hypocrite trouble makers, and failing drug dealers are all in a day’s work.
Brian O’Halloran plays the character of Dante Hicks. Dante is a winey guy who lets life hold him down. Brian plays this role perfectly. He plays this element of Dante but also adds an element that is common is failing people. Dante tries to convince himself that he is better everyone else and all of his costumers. The counterbalance to Dante’s character is Randal, played by Jeff Anderson. Randal lives life to the fullest and believes he is above everyone else only because he doesn’t care about social status. Jeff plays this character really well. He has a perfect nonchalant attitude that portrays Dante’s beliefs to the letter. Both of these characters are similar in one key aspect, both only look forward to hockey and closing time. In a weird way, a life lesson can be learned from this simplicity. Do what you want, what makes you happy. It’s the only way to deal with crap life throws at you.
Roger Ebert reviewed this movie when it came out in 1994. He gave it ¾ stars on his rating scale. I personally agree with this rating. Clerks was a good movie but not the right movie for all audiences. Roger Ebert said that “there's a danger that the movie could reduce itself to a series of people standing around talking.” This statement is the exact fear that most movie goers have when analyzing this movie. However, Kevin Smith handled these moments with pure genius. He makes every conversation worth listening to and entertaining. This helps put this movie on a whole new level.
Personally, I love this movie. I feel it is a good movie for most people. However, you must have the proper sense of humor to truly enjoy this movie. You have to like crude language, mature topics, and moments that make you simply ask why. If you can tolerate, or enjoy, any of these things, you should definitely watch this movie.

The movie that I am going to be reviewing is Puss in boots. The movie Puss in boots is your typical cartoon movie. It has humor and fun for all ages. The movie starts out as Puss as a young loving kitty cat that lives in an orphanage. Puss first has no friends and doesn’t know any of the other kids. As Puss goes on to meeting Humpdy Dumpdy, they form a great relationship and live in the same tower together. Their friendship is priceless till one day when Humpdy gets a wild hair and decides to steal all the towns’ people’s money while puss is sleeping. Humpdy wakes puss up and then they leave town. As they are leaving puss falls out of the wagon. Humpdy being too stubborn to come back for puss leaves him on the town street. With this betrayal Puss never wants to see Humpdy again. As time goes on in the story puss wants to steal the magic beans that Jack and Jill have. When trying to steal them another cat that is wearing boots also tries to get them. Puss chases the cat and goes to an under cat hangout. Where he then seeks to find that Humpdy hires the female cat to attract him and to come see Humpdy. After long talks and Humpdy apologizing they reunite as a team and go back to trying to steal the beans. This movie is a great adventure of a story. The story is made very funny with Antonio Banderas playing puss’s part. The theme to this movie is don’t trust anyone, you might just get screwed over again. I found critic’s reviews and they said “the movie is great” and it got almost 4 stars everywhere. Yes I do believe it is worth our time and money and I would recommend anyone to see this movie because it is a truly great movie.

So I choose the movie the boy in the striped pajamas this movie is about a young boy named Bruno who lived in Prewar Germany with his mom older sister and his father who is an SS commandant. But Bruno father moved his family to the country side where he got a job as command a prison camp. Bruno one day was board and went to go explore and what Bruno came a cross was a boy named Shmuel in striped pajamas behind an electrified fence but what Bruno doesn’t know what’s going on and he doesn’t understand why he can’t be friend with his new friend Shmuel. I personally think that both the boys played their roles very good in this film like when Asa Butterfield who played Bruno acted like he had no clue on what was going on around him and how Jack Scanlon who played Shmuel played the boy in the striped pajamas really good. Shmuel I think this motivation was having Bruno as a friend and also opening up Bruno eyes and seeing what’s really going on. Bruno I think he really had a motivation because he had the good life he had food he didn’t get beat but if I had to think of one was becoming friends with Shmuel. I think what the audience was supposed to take away from this film was that there really was a holocaust because people and a lot think or chose not to believe that this really did happen. I agree with the critics this movie from the Chicago sun times and rolling stone that this powerful impact on why and when it transfers the film point of view and how this power of this holocaust tale sneaks up and floors you. Yes I love this movie so much and if you need a really good cry I would say go see or rent this movie.

One man is accused of murdering his own wife when really this man Dr. Richard Kimble, played by Harrison Ford did nothing but love and adore her. Now he must go and escape prison leaving him only to be a fugitive on the run. The wealthy doctor must trial himself through situations that lead him onto breaking the law and find that the killer of his wife will be a man with a prosthetic arm. That narrows it down right? No because he has the feds, including Marshal Sam Gerard played by Tommy Lee Jones looking for him. Marshall Gerard is one of the best in the department and he won’t stop until he finds this running fugitive. These two main characters work very well together. When they both confront each other during the movie you can feel the clash between them and one could say that Tommy Lee Jones could make a very good cop along with Harrison Ford who could, needless to say make a great fugitive. Again the two main characters to maintain their motivation throughout the movie such as Richard Kimble who yearns to find the murder his lovely wife Helen Kimble and prove to the world that he is innocent. On the other hand we ha have Marshal Gerard who also has a nag to find his criminals regardless if they have committed the crime or not. The overall them for this movie I would have to say is that do not give up so easily on something you think should be changed in your life or want to happen. It doesn’t have to be to the extremities of being accused of killing someone but anything at all. I would have to agree with Rotten Tomatoes on giving it a five out five stars, filled with action packed scenes this movie will leave you guessing through the whole thing. It is definitely worth our time and money to see this because on some cases this does happen to people and are falsely accused of things.

The movie Kill Bill is about a widow whose family was killed by hit men. After being shot in the head, she recovers in the hospital while thinking of ways to get her revenge. Now she goes on a journey to find the people that tried to kill her. Throughout the movie she gets one step closer to the person that shot her, but in-between that she has to face difficult obstacles. She fights and kills people that give her clues to who her killer was. There’s no ending because there’s more than 1 movie, I’m just talking about the first one and how it all began. Here are some of the main actors in the movie. Beatrix Kiddo- the Bride who was shot- is blood thirsty for vengeance of the death of her loved ones. Bill– The brides past lover who is the leader of the assassination group- is very smart and devious when it comes to killing. O-Ren Ishii -One of the group members who killed the bride- she is the leader of the Yakuza Clan. Elle Driver - another group member of the assassination group- she was taught by the same teacher who taught Beatrix how to fight, but killed the master for taking her eye out. Finally, there’s Budd -Bill’s younger brother who was also in the assassination group). Those are some of the main characters that are in the movie. The theme in the movie would probably be if you’re going to do something, make sure you do it right the first time. Like when the assassination group killed her and her family, they didn’t make sure she was dead. Some say it’s nothing but a “highly stylized revenge flick”. “Highly anticipated film of 2003”. Id agree with them because it’s a pretty good movie if you like action and killing. To me it’s worth time watching because I’m into action movies with a lot of suspense, so if you’re into those kind of movies then you’ll enjoy watching Kill Bill.

The Pursuit of Happiness is that type of movie that will get the girls crying and the guys tear-jerking. Especially since this movie is based on a true story. The Pursuit of Happiness is about a man who thought he would have a starting life with his wife and child. But instead of living happily ever after he ended up on downhill, looking for the “pursuit of happiness.”
Will Smith plays the main role in this sympathetic movie. With every movie he has played in The Pursuit of Happiness would be, in my opinion, one of his greatest acting parts. He has a way of appearing like he’s actually living in the movie. He makes everything feel as if it was all real, and that he takes the acting role to a new level. Jaden Smith who plays the son also does an amazing job because of his lack of childish behavior behind the scenes he sets it aside and allows his acting talents to do the talking for him. He effectively persuades people to feel the sympathy and pain his character felt.
Will Smith’s character was a hard-working, dedicated man and father. He was so determined to have a better life for his son he would stop at nothing to achieve his goal. One particular scene where he shows his dedication was when he would constantly try to sell these hospital machines but no one would buy it. Even after many rejections from multiple Doctors he knew it was one of the only ways to support his son, so he continued go forward. Jayden Smith who plays as the son is just a normal kid. His motivation is his fat her and what normal kids are motivated by. Since he was really young he didn’t really have a full understanding about what was going on so he did what any other kid would do and just try to goof around.
A theme that can be taken from this movie is that whatever life throws at you, you’re still entitled to choosing your own path of enlightenment.
Critics say that he did an amazing job with the role of Chris Gardner. I agree with the critics that describe Smiths acting as a, hands down, amazing performance. He was able to role-play a hard character to capture and ended up making his performance a spectacular one.
After watching this movie I absolutely think that this movie is worth our time and money. If you a person who enjoys movie that make you laugh, tear up, and happy then this is the right movie. The Pursuit of Happiness allows viewers to get “caught up” in the moment. It help eases life because it just portrays that life for others could be more difficult than for others.

Many movies are character driven and a good example of one is the movie Salt. Throughout the movie you’re trying to find out who Evelyn Salt really is a Russian mole or a C.I.A. super assassin? Evelyn Salt is seen being tortured in a North Korean prison at the start of the film. Two years later Salt leaves her apartment and makes her way to the corporate offices for her C.I.A. job. While being in the corporate offices she meets the Russian defector. He tells Salt that her real name is Chernkov and her father was a wrestler and her mother a chess prodigy. Also that Salt was taken away by the K.G.B. to be trained from infancy as an undercover agent. She goes on the run and does things for both the C.I.A. and the Russian’s. The question answered at the end is who is Evelyn Salt? The actress that plays Evelyn Salt is Angelina Jolie. I think she does an amazing job throughout the movie; she makes you want to see what’s going to happen next. “"Jolie is athletic and fearless enough to do many of her own stunts, including nervy scenes of jumping from moving truck to moving truck (albeit done with the aid of cables and harnesses that were removed in post-production). The actress is also expert at projecting the ice cold fury that makes 'Salt's' fight scenes strong.” Critic Kenneth Turan said this and I agree that she fits the part perfect. Liev Schreiber is Ted Winter in the movie; he is also part of the C.I.A. He plays his part well and it’s believable. Salt’s character traits are unemotional, brave, and smart. The only time she’s emotional in the movie is when her husband’s murder right in front of her. Evelyn Salt’s motivations aren’t seen in the movie until the very end and that’s when you find out whether she’s good or bad. The themes in the movie I think are not to trust anyone because you don’t know who that person really is. Critic Robert Ebert says, “It's exhilarating to see a genre picture done really well.” I agree with him I think the film has excellent effects and its super intense. I definitely would request this movie and I think it’s worth your time and money if you’re looking for a good action film.

The Karate Kid would be a good example of a character driven movie. This movie really shows the hardships of a young adult’s life and how you have to deal with the situations you can’t always control. For Dre, a fatherless 12 years old boy who struggles to become a strong man for himself and his mother. Thankfully Dre encountered Mr. Han, which is their handyman and later becomes Dre’s karate teacher. Dre has to move from Detroit to China with his mother, and struggles with understanding their language and getting to know his surroundings. At first he thinks that he doesn’t fit in there and makes things hard for himself and later realizes what he can do to fix it. So Dre turned to Mr. Han to help him learn how to fight so that he could get back at the kids who beat him up and show them that he’s not scared. Mr. Han lost his son due to a car accident and Dre doesn’t have a father figure in his life, so they seem to fit together as friends very well and it’s almost as if they replace those empty holes in their lives. Dre is a young boy and struggles to learn karate and Mr. Han trains him so hard that Dre wants to just give up, but Mr. Han won’t let him. Soon Dre’s mom realizes what’s going on with Dre and Mr. Han and becomes proud of them and glad that they found each other. I think Dre is a strong young boy and proves that anyone, including himself can do whatever they choose if they set their mind to it which is an important message the movie sends out to us. I agree with the critics when they say that “story proceeds, as it must, with Dre slowly softening the heart of Mr. Han, who saves him from a beating by Cheng and agrees to teach him the secrets of fighting”. They don’t necessarily want to show their emotions about each other but ends up that they do anyways. The Karate Kid really is worth your time and money, and is one of my favorite movies.

A Cinderella Story, staring Hilary Duff is one of my favorite movies. Like other Cinderella movies, A Cinderella Story tells the story of a teenage girl whose life is changed by an evil step mother. In this movie, Sam (Duff) loses her father due to a terrible earthquake, and therefore is taken in by his new wife along with her twin daughters. Throughout the movie, we learn that the most popular, handsome, smart, football player has a crush on the not so popular Sam. In the movie, Sam and Austin (Chad Michael Murray) do not know that they are crushing on each other because they met online and used secret names. The two of them meet in the middle of the dance floor at a school dance, but still don’t know each other because Sam is wearing a mask. Even though Sam knows who her secret crush is, she does not want to reveal herself to Austin, because she is the “loser” of the town and doesn’t believe that Austin will like her once he knows who she truly is. We see the character of Sam progress throughout the movie. At first, she just wants to make her stepmother happy, but then what she really needs to do it just make herself happy. Her motivation is to do what her dad would want for her. Sam is very hardworking and determined to do what she needs to do. Reviews that I read, weren’t the biggest fans of the movie, but they do say Hilary Duff does an amazing job. “Duff has a sweetness that endears her to the audience,” was said in a review from Cinemablend.com. Reviews also mentioned that this movie was aimed for teens. That could be why it is one of my favorite movies, and not my moms. I somewhat agree with the critics on this movie. I see where they are coming from when they say that this is a movie aimed for teens, but I wouldn’t classify this movie as a “bad movie”. I would suggest this movie for teenage girls. This would be a great movie to watch when you’re hanging out with your girlfriends. So, to the girls out there, this is worth your time. It is somewhat similar to other Cinderella Stories, but not exactly like the others, and we learn to do what in the end will make us happy.

Moulin Rouge is a movie starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. It is a story about a man who comes to the Paris to explore the bohemian culture. While there he falls in love with the famous courtesan Satine. Together they are making a musical under the jurisdiction of the Duke who is madly in love with Satine. It is a story of forbidden love between the two main characters. Both McGregor and Kidman had incredible performances in the movie. They played their characters in a unique way, both expressing their deep love for each other. McGregor played the role of Christian and a writer who has recently moved to Paris to find a new way of life. He is a very loving man he will do anything to show his love for Satine and go to any means to make her love him back. Christian shows determination when he keeps fighting for Satine’s love even when the Duke threatens his life. Kidman who plays Satine the famous courtesan of the Moulin Rouge is focused on becoming a real actress, without having to sell her body to obtain attention. Once she meets Christian however she falls deeply in love and understands that is the real meaning of life. She is under contract and rule of the Duke, she breaks Christian’s heart, telling him that she does not love him to save his own life. The theme of the movie is quoted in the movie, "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return". I agree with the critics that it is a love it or hate it movie. It has a one of its kind style of acting. I believe this movie is well worth your time and money, however it is a musical so select audiences may only enjoy it. It is very original and I cannot compare it to any other type of movies. If you are a fan, you will greatly enjoy this movie and it will most likely become one of your all time favorites.

The Blind Side is one of the best inspirational movies of the year. It’s about a boy named Michael who’s a homeless kid, the state took him away from his mother at a young age. He ran away from every foster home. And know has no one to help him. He gets accepted into a private school because they need him for football. At first it was rough for him, he was sleeping in Laundromats. But things got better when a woman takes him in. The family knows nothing about him at first but they learn about his past as time goes. Michael becomes a great football player, and has scouts knocking on his front door. The actor who plays Michael (Quinton Aaron) had an outstanding performance in the movie. He was nominated for best actor. He develops as a person throughout the movie, and at first he is shy and keeps to himself. But you learn more about him as the movie goes on. Sandra Bullock played the women who took Michael in. She was awarded best performance by an actress in a leading role. She inspires him to achieve what he wants, and just because he was homeless doesn’t mean he can’t do things that normal kids can. The theme of this movie is don’t let your past make your future. Just because Michael was homeless he didn’t let that influence his future. It just made him want to be better. I agree with what critics say about this movie being one of the most inspirational movies. That Michael story was inspiring and unique. Overall, The Blind Side is an excellent movie that manages to be about football without ever being a "football movie”. This movie will not disappoint you. It is worth your time, and money.

The genres of music that I listen to are several types like rap and hip hop and pop. Now I know that there are thousands of genres of music, but I'm first going to list out of the out of the major genres and then subdivide them into smaller categories. In USA probably rap is the most popular genres of music known throughout the world. Some artist of music I prefer is kid Cudi Rap music is extremely popular these days. The feeling that is identified in his songs represent being cool living live with enjoyment and pretty much just fitting in with the crowd. The emotions that are evoked in his music is happiness personally some of the songs I am comparing and contrasting to well-known singers like Chris brown, trey songs and Iyaz. .one of kid Cudis music that are memorable that I know is the prayer by Kid Cudi it probably because I have heard it on the radio numerous times so it has become stuck in my mind .You probably haven't knew that the music is worth our time and money. Therefore there are multiple motives for fans to listen to hip hop but the real people just listen to it because they like hearing it. People spend buying albums and gain their time on viewing the artist by watching videos on YouTube subscribing commenting on the artist work. In my opinion however, if you look a bit deeper into the lyrics you might why kid Cudi is benefiting public status from the press wining Gemmy awards that most musicians don’t receive. I agree that critic’s opinions about the music how they seem to analysis the deeper assumptions people view on the genres of music which includes rap and pop also R&B in which features in the review.

The type of music that I’m going to classify is pop. The song I chose is man in the mirror by Michael Jackson. The emotion that is being evoked is suspense. Michael Jackson is representing a message that you need to help people and find what's wrong with you and fix it before it controls your life. Also the song says that people promise that they're going to do stuff, and then they don't. When I hear this song it cools me down from me being angry at someone so it changes my mood. However another song I chose is Loose Yourself by Eminem. The emotions that are being evoked are confidence and determination. Therefore when I hear this song it makes me feel like gaining something must come from hard tasking decision. This song reminds me of Beat It by Michael Jackson. Both songs are upbeat and have similar tone. I agree with others opinions about hip hop and R& B. Our cultural movement expressed through the rational elements of dejaying, emceeing, and various forms of dance. Therefore it represents other aspects of culture as well such as language, style of dress. I believe it’s worth our time and money the way we spend buying albums providing people concerts and to claim being addicted surpassing their limits. One or two song that is different from other song that I know is lazy song by bruna mars how it’s different is that the song meaning is about him being lazy. The music review that says about Michael Jackson song man in the mirror is one of the best albums of his classic ones. In my opinion I believe it’s worth our time and money because I enjoy listening to it and Michael Jackson sold the highest album record that hit millions sold outs.

Ryan is the go to guy about classic rock, but the Beastie Boys don’t escape his scope even with their rap/ punk rock genre. I agree with the fact that they are one of the greatest bands of all time and am surprised that they are not yet part of the rock ‘n’ roll hall of fame. My favorite song of theirs has to be “Fight for Your Right” which the sole message of the song is to break all the rules and have a good time. The Beastie Boys refuse to play by the rules and that’s what makes them so great. They have their own original sound that makes them hard to compare with other artists, they are also one of the only bands that can pull off rap/rock and appeal to everyone. They send serious messages in the songs but the videos depict them just having a good time. All of their songs seem to share the theme of chaos and pandemonium. God only knows there is nothing better than a good time with your friends and that’s the whole point to their lyrics, they make you feel invincible and wild. If you haven’t yet experienced this musical rush, I strongly encourage you to buy an album call up some friends and live life.

The type of music I am going to classify is pop and R&B. The song I chose “Is Just a Dream by Nelly. The emotion that is being evoked is sadness. Nelly loves this girl and wishes they could be together, but then he starts dating her. He is really happy until he finds out that it was just a dream. When I hear the song it calms and every word song can be applied to a particular part of my life. Whether it is happy or sad, I can always find a way to relate to this song. Also, it’s ‘my favorite choice to listen to sometimes your mind relaxes and you start thinking about how the song relates to your life. Some people sing to express this, others may even close their eyes and imagine it. Another song I chose is “How to Love” by Lil Wayne. The song shares a story about a girl at a bar who is a stripper but doesn’t want to be and Wayne basically is pointing out how he’s loved her since she was young. He believes that she can do much better with her life. The song I’m contrasting and comparing is well known singers like Justin Bebier.

Fleet Foxes are considered a folk punk band that represents artists of the 60s such as Bob Dylan and The Zombies. Most of the Fleet Foxes songs are very peaceful and easy to listen to. The Fleet Foxes’ musical style can be compared to that of Mumford & Sons and Le Loup. Other critics have said that their song “White Winter Hymnal” is so far their best song from their album self titled album “Fleet Foxes.” I agree with this statement because the Fleet Foxes’ other songs are pretty good but this song is my favorite from this album. You might not like the other songs from their older albums but if you like peaceful music full of harmonies than you will like “White Winter Hymnal.”

I completely agree with Brandon’s belief; AC/DC is one of the best Rock ‘n’ Roll bands ever formed. Even the tragic loss of their main singer wasn’t able to slow these gods down. If you need a band that will get a party started or fill a room with energy, just play any of AC/DC’s songs. They will get the job done. I agree that “Thunderstruck” is their most energizing song. Once the incredible speed of the intro guitar rift starts, you just want to stand up and rock. The true brilliance of this song lies in the simple drum beat that sort of sounds like a beating heart, adding a lifelike feel to the song.
Bands like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and Van Halen are similar to AC/DC. They all are relatively from the same time period and have a similar sound. I would definitely recommend these bands to anyone who likes AC/DC. Led Zeppelin is the only band of these three that is slightly different. Their songs cover a large spectrum of speeds but they rarely play extremely fast. Aerosmith and Van Halen on the other hand are known for their insane guitar riffs and speedier songs. All four of these bands deserve to be listened to. This is clear because all four have been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

Taylor Gang or Die is definitely Wiz Khalifa’s famous saying. Whenever someone hears this saying Wiz Khalifa definitely pops in mind. I agree that Wiz Khalifa is one of hip-hops rising stars at the moment and is making his way to the top! He has a well range of music that talk about many different times in his life. My personal favorite song is “This Plane” because it has a great beat and amazing lyrics! I also love the song “Roll Up” because it shows his more sensitive side which I think is an important side we usually don’t see in all hip-hop artists. I agree that Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller have a lot of the same points and talk about personal things they have been through, but their sounds are quite a bit different. If you like Wiz Khalifa’s music I think you would also like some other styles of music that have more personalized lyrics such as rock or country. I agree that many critics are definitely naming Wiz Khalifa one of the new top hip-hop artists as he continues to grow! I also agree that he deserves it, he is an artist that has worked very hard for what he has now and it wasn’t an easy road as it was for some other artists who were born into fame. Wiz Khalifa is definitely someone I would spend money and time to go see and support.

I am responding to will Davis’s blog about Jason Aldean. I do believe that Jason is one of the best country singers out there as well. In the blog will talks about one of his new songs which is called “dirt road anthem”. Will says that it is a relaxing song that describes his life in the area that Jason Aldean lived in. I strongly agree with everything that will have said. The funny thing is, me and will hangout almost every weekend, and listen to country and kick back and relax as Jason Aldeans song explains. Also will talks about song lyrics that say “im hitting easy street and mud tires”. This phrase talks about getting a little mud on the tires. This is also what me and will do when we are together. Frequently on weekends I take my big ol jacked up Chevy wheeling through ponds, and mud trails. The last thing will talks about which is my favorite thing is that he talks about how this is not a love song like most country songs. I really like this song for that reason. Overall my opinion is totally with will and I also have a loving passion for good ol country tunes. Love Mike

My response to Mr. Mike is, that I don’t think Darius Rucker is not all that great. In my opinion he is horrible. Most of his songs are not about having a fun life or girls, they are about being a player and drinking lots of beer. I heard that he don’t even write his own music, that he pays people to write them for him! His song “don’t think about it” is just depressing. If I wanted to listen to someone’s sob story I would go on face book. The same goes with the rest of his music. Its just depressing! Especially his song “alright”, is definitely not alright. He totally contradicts all his music. One song is about how his “gal” leaves him, now he’s saying he has a pretty girl in his bed. Everybody knows he is a very well off person financially. He is a very well known country singer ill give him that, with that being said I think he will be alright, all the time. I really don’t need to hear how much better his life is then mine, even though his previous songs say his life sucks. I think he needs to be one way or the other, because he is making a bipolar music album. Mike also said that he has a natural voice, I have seen some of his live performances on you tube, and I am not all that impressed. His voice sounds like every other country singer trying to sing while getting punched in the neck. If I had the computer software I could make Karl from Sling Blade sound like Justin Beiber. In all honesty, I would not spend a dime on his music, or even throw one at him when he’s sitting on the sidewalk begging for change, when people realize that he is not all that great like I do. I’m sure he is a great guy, but a country singer? I think not..

I do agree with Kayla when she says Katy Perry is one of the most well-known artists out there. Katy Perry is a pop star, and one of the best pop starts in my opinion. In almost all of her songs she sings about positive thing and mostly about having a good time. There are many artist that have music like Katy Perry but the artist I think Katy Perry Is most like is Ke$ha. Ke$ha’s song “Tick Tock” sounds similar to Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night.” These songs are both about parting but Ke$ha’s song is about the next morning after a party, and Katy Perry is about a party she’s at and how fun she’s having. Some critics like her and some don’t, i have to agree with the ones who like her. I would say that Katy Perry is worth your time and money because her music is energetic that It will make you want to get up and dance. In my opinion she is one of the best pop artist there is. She defiantly has some music that should be played at parties.

Christina B’s second blog about Andy Grammer really caught my eye. I recently heard his hit single “Keep Your Head Up,” and I loved it. This song just puts me in a better mood and makes me realize that no matter what, I should keep my head up. Most of his music is upbeat, that anyone can sing along too. Andy Grammer honestly reminds me of Jason Mraz. Both of these artists end up writing songs that most people can relate too in their lives. They are both pretty popular artists that critics rave about. Andy Grammer is now becoming more popular than Jason Mraz because of how strong of a writer he really is. Many music critics figured that Andy Grammer would be one of those artists that release only one really good song that is popular for only a little bit, but he ended up coming out with a whole album! Andy Grammer is a truly talented singer / song writer. I believe that he will continue to remain a popular artist releasing brand new songs often. I encourage you to take a minute of your time to check out his music, you won’t regret it!

I completely agree with Christina’s response about The Script. They are definitely a group of talented young Irish men who are becoming more popular every single day. I first surprisingly heard about this band from my mom. She had found them off of a website before they were even big and we both fell in love with their music. I also believe that their tone alternates throughout each song. One song can make you feel upbeat and happy, while the other may make you feel depressed and gloomy. I think it shows a great deal of talent when bands are able to give their listeners a vast deal of emotions. One song that is one of my favorites by The Script is “Nothing”. It’s about a guy who is heartbroken because his girlfriend broke up with him. His friends try and make him feel better by having him go out with them. Instead he tries to call her when he’s drunk but she says nothing. In the end of the song he is still left heartbroken with nothing. This song is very relatable to everyone because every single person will end up heartbroken sometime throughout their life. I believe that’s why so many people love this band because they write about things that anyone can relate to because of experiences they have gone through. I would recommend this band to anyone; you will be blown away if you give them a chance.

I definitely agree with Johnny on this one. Mumford & Sons is a great retreat from all things auto tuned and super bassed. Their rough and honest sound is something that we don’t see in a lot of in popular music today. Another band who has a similar sound is the Avett Brothers. They hold true to the same sort of folk roots and ability to harmonize beautifully (you may remember the Avett Brothers from their performance alongside Mumford & Sons and Bob Dylan at the Grammy Awards this past year). One of my favorite Mumford & Sons songs is “Timshel.” It carries a melancholy melody but possesses a hopeful message. In it, Marcus Mumford, the lead singer, depicts situations such as a man on his deathbed and a struggling single mother, but the chorus is all about how they are not alone in their tough times. There is always someone to commiserate with and someone to hold your hand through it all. Another message that I appreciate it sends is that your struggles don’t make you any less of a person; “it will steal your innocence, but it will not steal your substance”. I truly believe that Mumford & Sons has a lot to offer the music industry and it will be fun to hear their next album.

Wale (wah-lay) is considered an uprising hip-hop rap artist. Wale’s music is considered to be real, down to Earth; overall it should give you just a chill feeling. People listen to Wale’s album expecting to either get hyped up or to just relax and chill because he’s the type of artist who can make you feel both emotions. Wale’s charisma changes people outlook on him. Rather than having a hardcore gangster appearance like, The Game, he brings a happy lively personality. Rather than rapping about drugs, money, or woman he expresses his life and all the obstacles that crossed his path.
One song that I particularly think is a memorable song is called “The Break up Song” and this song explains how this guy is in love with this girl and how he feels like anything possible. It’s a song many people would love because it describes the heartbreak and how a person can easily fall for another person. Another memorable song is called “Letter” because it speaks from his heart. Also from the things he’s seen, heard and experienced in his life. He’s incorporated poetry, rap and soul all in one.
I agree with what most of the critics say about Wale because in my opinion I think he’s a great artist who deserves what’s coming to him. I don’t think he’s the best artist out there but he’s worked hard in life to get where he is and I think he should have what he’s earned. I would use my time to go to his concerts because I think they’re worth it. He’s lively in concert and knows how to put on a good show.
