Nasir Jones better known as his stage name Nas was born in queens Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York, Nas at an early age started to play the trumpet so music was a big part of his life. Nas’s music career started at a young age when him and a group of friends were just experimenting with different types of music. Nas did his first performance at Main Source's "Live at the Barbeque” Event and Nas Proclaimed him self a child Prodigy, and was soon after approached by MC Serch of 3rd Bass who began to manage Nas and got him a record deal with Columbia Records. Soon after Nas made his Solo debut as Nasty Nas, on the single “Halftime” off Serch's soundtrack for the film Zebrahead. This Created a lot of buzz for this up incoming rapper Nas, his standout appearance on "Back to the Grill Again" Created even more buzz around Nas he was being compared to rappers like Rakim. Then in 1994 Nas released his first solo album Illmatic it got numerous awards Like I it got rated five Microphones by the Source Magazine Which is the equivalent to five stars. A few years later Columbia records were pushing Nas to release another album But more commercial with more of a pop sound, in 1996 Nas released The Written with hits like “If I ruled the world”(imagine that)Ft Lauryn Hill of The Fugees Which peaked at number 53 on the billboards. But nas was not done there in the coming years nas would start to work on the album I am../ Nastradamus but with most of his music being leaked on the web he was forced to make a quick studio album just titled Nastradamus. Nas then in 2001 started working on another album Stillmatic the album was driving by the feud between him and jay z, Nas dropped the song Ether a diss track towards jay z which was on his 5th studio album Stillmatic The album debut at number five The album featured singles like "Got Ur Self A..." and "One Mic" Nas released four albums since then the latest being a collaboration album with Damian Marley Which he announced at the 2009 Grammys the album was set to drop in the fall of 2009. And the some of the proceeds would be donated to build schools in Africa Nas is currently working on his tenth studio album The Lost Tapes Pt. 2
