The last installment in J.K. Rowling’s critically acclaimed series featured in 2 parts is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The way this story differs from the others is the fact that Harry, Ron, and Hermione (played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson respectively) don’t actually attend Hogwarts to finish up their last year. Instead, following Dumbledore’s death, he has requested them to carry out one final task: Giving the ‘coup de grace’, or finishing blow to all of Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes. In total, Voldemort has attached fragments of his soul into 7 of these objects and scattered them across the wizarding world to remain immortal. In other words, without the destruction of each and every Horcrux attached to Voldemort’s soul, he cannot be finished off once and for all. In a nutshell, the above is a brief summary of the plot to this final chapter in the Harry Potter series. The actors and actresses all did a fine job at once again portraying the character’s created by J.K. Rowling. Rupert Grint was more aggressive and angry in this movie then he ever was when he was, in regards to when Harry and Hermione were with each other talking about ways to get rid of the Horcruxes (This was as a result of being controlled by one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes). Daniel Radcliffe also fought back at Ron’s actions throughout the movie so it was interesting to see two of the main characters, best friends at that, get into an ongoing argument/fight throughout the movie. Emma Watson displayed feelings of sadness, love, and grief when all of this was unfolding before her very eyes because she was not used to seeing this and didn’t want Harry and Ron to split up if they were to ever defeat Voldemort. I would say the most facially expressed and enthusiastic character in this movie (even if she is an evil character) is Bellatrix Lestrange played by Helena Bonham Carter. The movie producer could not have picked a better choice to play this character! This movie has many themes. However, the one that stands out the most is death and the effects it has on the characters and the storyline as a whole. Overall, I say if you’ve been a fan since the start and whether you’ve read all the books, went to all the previous movies, or both, than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is not a film to miss!
