Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is about a high school guy named Ferris Bueller who just really doesn’t ever want to go to school. He plans a day off that will be bigger than all the rest. He devises a machine in his bedroom to fake sick while he goes and has fun out on the town with his girlfriend Sloane and his friend Cameron. The problem is, Ferris’ principal Mr. Rooney knows Ferris isn’t sick and he tries to prove it. Ferris is a guy that just wants to have fun and he really has no motivation at all, he is the typical high school slacker. Cameron is the “good kid”, he is cautious and always thinks about the consequences. Ed Rooney is “the bad guy”, he will do anything to catch Ferris and get him into trouble. The actors in this movie include Matthew Broderick as Ferris, Alan Ruck as Cameron, and Jeffrey Jones as Ed Rooney. Matthew Broderick does an amazing job of capturing what it really means to be a high school guy and the attitude towards going to school. Alan Ruck is also very good portraying the guy that never wants to be in trouble and the person that tries to hold Ferris down unsuccessfully. Jeffrey Jones is great in his role as Ed Rooney, the principal that tries to catch Ferris in the act of skipping school. He is right on in what most kids see as a principal. He is a grouchy man that likes to catch kids and get them in trouble. Writer Pete Croatto sums the movie up the best using words like “memorable scenes” and “we all know that feeling”. In my opinion I agree with Pete and it is worth the time to watch this movie because most of us have been through high school and we know the feelings Ferris has about school.
