Akon who was born with the name Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Badara Akon Thiam is a Senegalese rapper. He shot to fame in 2004 with his hit single “Locked Up”. He began making music when he was just 15 and joined a group called the Fugees. But one of the things he’s most famous for was when he ran into trouble with the law when he danced with an underage girl on stage and they pressed charges. Even though the club was 18 and over the girl somehow got in and went on stage with akon without akon knowing her real age. Akon has been on tracks with many other famous rappers and has his own label called Konvict. He’s internationally respected and is one of the most famous artists. But he hasn’t really come out with any hit singles lately and his name is slowly starting to go away. There are other new names coming out and taking the fame. He’s sung a lot of songs talking about his hometown and Africa. He also goes there and visits his home country. His music in the years from 2004-2008 were some of his best music. One of the songs he went on that was liked by a lot of people was “sweetest girl ft. lil wayne”. It was a number 1 hit for a while. Another song that was liked by a lot of people was “Don’t Matter” and that song was a hit single for a while too. Some people don’t like him because they say his voice never changes and his music is always about the same thing. But I would listen to his old music. Even though I really haven’t heard any good songs by him lately. I would recommend people go and buy his albums if he comes out with any new ones.
