Eminem is one rapper that I have been listening to since I was about 8. My mom used to make me buy the edited version of his cd’s because he (a strong defender of the first amendment) always talked about sex, drugs, killing, and swore more than any rapper while doing it. He’s a very emotional rapper when it comes to his music. Eminem has been called “the best poet of this generation.” In songs such as “White America”, “Never Enough”, and “Yellow Brick Road” he talked about how he grew up in a black city and how he got chased and beaten almost every day. Eminem also talked about how he was the only white rapper in the game and that nobody would sign him to a label because of it. However, Dr. Dre looked past the fact that he was white and gave him a chance. Eminem ended up lighting a fire up underneath him and now he’s looking at selling the most records out of any rapper on earth. He has always been compared to the greatest artists of all time like; 2Pac Shakur, Jay Z, Biggie Smalls, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. One of the most memorable songs that Eminem has ever had was “Lose Yourself”, (released in 2002) was one of the biggest songs not only by Eminem, but ever made. Kids use this song to get pumped up or when they’re mad they can sit in their room and vibe out to it. That’s what the majority of his songs are written for, for kids to learn to express themselves and hear about how other people feel the same way emotionally not just them. I have yet to see a professional critic that has said anything bad about Eminem and what he is doing to the world. So I strongly agree with what most critics have to say about him and his music. Overall, I would say if you like rap music then listen to Eminem, not just his music, but his lyrics and what he say. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
