The Band Perry is a family trio consisting of Kimberly, Neil, and Reid Perry born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. In the summer of 2008, the group got together officially for the first time in Nashville to begin writing and collecting songs for their first country album. This modern country group of siblings has now topped the charts with hits such as “Hip to My Heart” and the mournful ballad, “If I Die Young.” On their first album, they have had two chart-topping hits plus other songs such as “You Lie,” “Lasso,” and “Walk Me Down the Middle.” Their style changes from rocking juke songs to happy-go-luck modern twang. The Band Perry’s style and sound compares a lot to hit artists like Lady Antebellum and Sugarland, all of which have topped the Billboard charts. The band sings about teen suicide in the song, “If I Die Young,” singing, “bury me in satin, lay me down in a bed of roses, sink me in the river at dawn, send me away with the words of a love song.” It doesn’t matter if you’re a country fan or not, that song will hit a spot in your heart. In the song, “Hip to My Heart,” the brother-sister trio sings, “I like your lips like I like my coca-cola,” incorporating their southern style into every song. Many wouldn’t think that a brother-sister combination band would work well, but for The Band Perry, it’s a perfect match. Each member has their own unique musical talents and together, they make it happen. Critics say to watch out for this up-and-coming band and I must agree. Their songs are unique and fresh and will appeal to all music fans alike. Overall, The Band Perry is a great band and I am confident they will come out with many more number one hits.
