One person that I have listened to a lot is Lil Wayne and I have grown to like his music a lot. The type of music he does is hip/hop and rap and have had many popular albums such as Cater III and No Ceilings. He has many different moods and feelings in many of his songs. Some songs, you can feel the anger and hate at a particular group or situation in the world like Hurricane Katrina. Lil Wayne is from New Orleans and was really hit hard by Katrina. He lost a lot and expressed some of the feelings he had in his songs and lyrics. On the other hand, he also has a lot of songs that are very relaxed and easy to listen to and relate too. In most of his songs, you can tell what kind of mood he was in when he wrote the song and sang the lyrics. Another artist that I can compare to Lil Wayne is Wiz Khalifa. Wiz Khalifa is a lot like Lil Wayne because they are both are rappers and they both have many different types’ songs with many different moods in their songs. He has songs, like Lil Wayne that are very angry at a group of people or a situation. He also has those songs that are really easy to listen to and relate to because those are just about every day experiences. They both rap like they are just a normal guy and just want to have fun and live their life. A great line in Lil Wayne’s song, “Right Above It,” is “you know you’re at the top when heavens right above it.” I think that this is a really good line because it is showing his faith to God and also, in the song, it talks about his friends and family members that have passed and I really think it means a lot to him. I agree that with critics that his career will survive when he is in jail because he is resilient and will get through it. In my opinion, Lil Wayne is the greatest rapper of all time and he’s not done with it. I would use my life savings to see Lil Wayne and he will always be my favorite rapper.
