Wiz Khalifa’s rap song “Roll Up” is definitely a new twist compared to his previous tracks. Like Billboard stated, “… the tune's laid-back.” The feelings evoked from this song are soft and soothing. His popular single “Black and Yellow” is quick, upbeat, and wild; whereas, “Roll Up” is more calming, restful, and gentle. The part of the lyrics, “Whenever you call baby I roll up,” is part of the rap song that helps explains the title of the song. It clarifies how Khalifa will be there for his girl whenever she may need him. It also shows the consideration Khalifa has for his companion. Also, I would have to agree with both AOL’s Radio Blog and Billboard’s Review. The new song “Roll Up” certainly has, “a noticeable change from Wiz Khalifa's previous releases,” as quoted by Billboard. He drastically changes the beat of his music from fast to slow. At first, it’s hard to imagine that “Roll Up” is sung by Khalifa, but as you listen on, you notice that it is in fact Khalifa; you can identify his voice easily. I also agree with AOL’s Radio Blog when they say Wiz Khalifa, “… shows his sensitive side.” Normally, Khalifa raps about drugs and partying, but this is a first that he has discussed a love interest. When discussing about one’s feelings, it seems to be taken more seriously. This giving “Roll Up” a more serious title than what it actually appears to be. As an overall opinion I believe that this song is worth the time and money. It is interesting to see the different styles of music that Khalifa can do. Different types of music catch the attention of listeners. More and more people will want to listen to “Roll Up” because it is so different from what he usually raps. In my perspective, Wiz Khalifa’s rap “Roll Up” shows a, softer side of him. Because of his considerably huge shift in music style, people will most likely spend their money and time to hear more.
