Eric Bibb has made the best acoustic blues for decades that people have been listening to around their living rooms at family get-togethers while having a good time. This man was so dedicated that he would cut school when he was a boy, claiming he was sick. After everyone was out of the house he would bust out all of his records and playing Odetta, Joan Baez, the New Lost City Ramblers, and Josh White. His newest song, “Booker’s Guitar” with a really upbeat rhythm and sound, gives everyone listening to it a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Also the voice he has is incredible. It is so deep and very easy to listen to, which is something that you can rarely find in any recent music. Overall, his music just makes people happy. “Booker’s Guitar” is actually a song that tells a story about how a fan had come up Bibb and showed him a guitar that had belonged to THE ‘Bukka’ White, who is B.B. King’s cousin. The vintage 1930s National Resophonic guitar inspired Bibb that he needed to make a statement about his relationship with the Delta blues tradition, and out came his newest album. The song describes the guitar in all of its entirety, and how it had inspired him. Almost Every critic that has had the pleasure of reviewing his music has said that Bibb has made inspirational music since he was 16. I would completely agree. Even Bob Dylan thought he had potential when Bibb was 11. He told Bibb to “keep it simple, forget all that fancy stuff,” and after that a musician was born. Overall, Eric Bibb is a fantastic musician and I would recommend his music to any of my family or friends and is definitely worth the money you would pay.
