The Beatles have made the best skiffle/rock and roll/pop/folk rock/classical music that people listened to together and brought out emotions rather than the funky club beats and music that people nowadays will continually listen to. The music they are able to create brings people together as seen in their music video of “Hey Jude”. When they are playing piano, guitar, bass and drums, they have people within touching distance of them singing along with them almost like they are all simply a large group of friends having a good time. The Beatles were more than just a band that made music. They were a group of friends that started a band when they were in their early teens, with the intention to have a good time. Any of the lyrics in their songs, were also very meaningful. More often than not, their lyrics told a story. In “Eleanor Rigby” they tell a story of Eleanor attending a wedding alone, and leaving it incredibly sad, and how she goes out in public and puts on a mask pretending to be happy. S Robert Greenfield of Rolling Stone even said, “People are still looking at Picasso… at artists who broke through the constraints of their time period to come up with something that was unique and original. In the form that they worked in, in the form of popular music, no one will ever be more revolutionary, more creative, and more distinctive.” This really sums up what The Beatles stood for, which was making something that no one has ever heard of before and that blew all other music that was being made at the time out of the water. When I listen to The Beatles, I simply feel happy. All of their music has a really positive, fun feeling, and anyone that is feeling down at all can listen to “Yellow Submarine” or “With a Little Help from My Friends” and instantly feel themselves bobbing their heads and appreciating real music. The majority of reviews of The Beatles have nothing but wonderful things to say about the group. The Beatles are WELL worth the time and money that people would put into listening to them. They will forever be my favorite group to listen to.
