My Chemical Romance is one of my favorite rock bands. Since the New Jersey band formed in 2001, they have dropped four amazing albums: I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004, and The Black Parade in 2006. Their most recent album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys just came out last year. The feel of this album is much different than their earlier albums. Their first three albums were kind of depressing and “emo” which actually caused a lot of controversy. This new album however gives a much different feeling. The songs on this album are triumphant, rebellious, and actually kind of uplifting. This new album is about all the things Gerald Way (the lead singer/songwriter) hates including how their band has gotten so famous. My Chemical Romance is similar to a lot of other rock bands including Smashing Pumpkins. But one band MCR has really modeled themselves after is Queen. One of my favorite songs on the new album is “Sing.” This song is memorable because it’s about how you should do what you want to do and not care about what people think of you. All the critics I’ve read so far have said that this new album is fun and the songs on it are really catchy. I definitely agree with them because I think all 12 tracks on this album are really good and I really enjoy listening to them. Another thing the critics say is MCR is staying modest and aren’t letting all the fame get to them, which I really think is good. Overall, if you really like catchy and rock music, MCR is definitely worth your time and money. They will always be one of my favorite bands because they’re so grounded and their music is really amazing.
