One of my favorite singers of all time is Jamey Johnson. He is a country/ country-western singer and he is pretty new on the scene although he has had a handful of hits and about 3 albums. One of my favorite albums he has made is called That Lonesome Song, in which he created one of his most popular songs, ‘In Color’ where he was singing about his grandfather and all the things he did in the pictures he sung about. The feeling behind that song was that he was depressed and sad about his grandfather passing away and yet he was happy to sing about such a great man and he was happy to have even known him. I’m not too sure of whom I could compare him to maybe George Jones or Waylon Jennings even though I haven’t ever really heard their songs, you could compare him to George Strait, and he is like George Strait because they both sing country but Jamey is not as famous or has been around as long but I believe if you give him enough time he will be as popular and good as “The King” George Strait. Back to ‘In Color’ which is one of most famous songs, one line that is memorable to me is “If it looks like we were scared to death, like a couple of kids just trying to save each other, you should of seen it in color.” which I believe is an actual quote from his grandfather which is like him saying if it looks scary back then, and that’s only one second and it’s in black and white, you should have been there and seeing it in person and “in color”. Another song I really enjoy is ‘Playing the Part’ and it’s from his latest album which was a double album Black and White but it is from the Black Album. The Lyrics are from chorus and it says “Back when the only L.A. I knew was Lower Alabama, back when me and Hannah was wishing on a southern star.” His feelings here I feel like they’re more annoyed and fed up with being in L.A. and that he just wants things to go back to the way they were. I agree with the critics saying that he is witty and well worth your time and money; he usually gets 9 out of 10 on ratings by spin reviews and by users. Overall I think he is generally a good artist.
