Daft Punk has been a favorite of mine for a few years now. Daft Punk is a DJ duo that writes and performs electro and funk style music. If listening to Daft Punk doesn’t get you dancing, it will definitely get you motivated to move somehow. With their amazing beats mixed with smooth melodies, their music gives the feeling of excitement. “Face to Face,” a song on their album Discovery is the perfect example of the former description. Their music could be comparable to Justice, another electro style DJ duo with their song “DVNO.” They also compare to Deadmau5, a lone DJ, who also writes much similar electro styled music and his song “Moar Ghosts ‘n Stuff.” Some of Daft Punk’s most memorable songs would have to be “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” which was an amazing song due to its complicated beats and vocal manipulation. Kanye West made a remix of the song, titled “Stronger,” that many people have heard, but in my opinion it isn’t half as good as the original. Also the song “Human After All” which only featured 8 words in its lyrics but had and amazing tune, excellent rhythm and a message to remind us that we’re all really human after all.
In one review of the album Alive 2007, John Bush states that it is “Easily the best live electronica album ever released.” I completely agree with John and the fact that they out did their last live album Alive 1997. “The group displays excellent crowd control, pacing the record well, spacing the hits, and building the mood like the good crowd-pleasers they are.”
In another review done by the Rolling Stone, Ben Ratliff says “Daft Punk's new single, "One More Time," is that kind of song: a piece of superreligion with an invincible beat and a nailed-to-the-wall vocal by house singer Romanthony. It is stamina itself, an anthem to "keep on dancing" that's already a huge hit in clubs and on the radio.” I agree with every word he says knowing that “One More Time” is the song that got me to love Daft Punk.
So if you are in to or interested in Electro style music, Daft Punk is a MUST BUY. The music they create is amazing and well known for its smooth flow and funky style.
