Never back down is an encouraging movie directed by Jeff Wadlow which brings out Jeff’s anger and how he expresses it. It starts out by Jake playing football against one of the teams in Iowa. The guy on the team that Jake’s team was playing against kept making smart comments about Jakes dad. Jakes dad had run into a tree drinking and driving and died. Jake got really mad and started a fight with the guy. People blame Jake because he could have prevented it by not letting his dad drive. Jake survived the accident but his dad didn’t. This event led Jakes mom to making the decision of moving to Florida. There everyone was talking and showing the video on how Jake had knocked the guy out back in Iowa in one hit. In his English class he helps a girl named Baja out with a question the teacher had asked and she talks with him and invites him to a party. He goes to the party to meet up with Baja and gets asked to fight out of the random because everyone thought Jake was a good fighter. So this kid named Ryan wanted to show him up. Jake doesn’t want to fight Ryan so he starts to walk away but Ryan’s friend wouldn’t let him pass. Ryan starts to talk about jakes dad and Jake furiously throws his fist at Ryan and misses. Ryan asked if Jake wanted to fight now and Jake agreed to. Jake ends up getting beat by Ryan really bad and gets embarrassed in front of his whole school. It turned out that Baja had set Jake up so Ryan could beat him up because Baja was dating Ryan. After Jake had gotten beat there was one kid that was willing to talk to him and the kids name was Max. Max was trying to get Jake into training for UFC but Jake kept turning down the offer. Then Max gave Jake some stuff to watch on UFC fighting and Jake changes his mind and starts to train with Max’s trainer Roqua. Jake was set on learning all the steps of UFC fighting and getting Ryan back for embarrassing him. One theme in the movie is never give up. Another theme is, don’t let your past destroy your future. I strongly agree with the critic’s point of view on the movie. Never Back Down does really grab your attention and gets into detail in all of the scenes. I do think it’s worth our time and money as well because you can learn a lot from one movie and this is one of them. Also some of the good habits expressed in the movie can rub off on us.
