Secondhand Lions, a story with many feelings and emotions. A boy sent off by his mother to go and live with his 2 uncles that he had never knew existed. The boy who had never really fit into any group of people and was very shy, never came to be himself was about to get his world changed 180 degrees. When his mother “mysteriously” got accepted into a college to get this degree and star over she drove the boy out to his uncle’s land in the middle of absolute nowhere. Owning over hundreds of acres with pretty much everything you could ever ask for, they were not very outgoing, happy go lucky guy! They loved there space and had many death threats on their miles long driveway to not go any farther. But when the boy gets dropped off, they treat him and his mother like any other person who rolls up, yelling screaming and even pointing guns at the car to scare them. By now the boy is lost and very scared. After his mother talks with the uncles, they agree to let him stay after she promises to come pick him up after she gets done with her “degree”. Does this really go as planned? That’s for you to watch! The boy is lost when he arrives and does not warm up real fast, but after time he comes out of his shell, helping his elder uncles and listening to their wisdom, advice and crazy stories they have as kids. As the movie progresses, you find him really getting to be himself and family values is to follow. This also a theme and probably a major them, family is everything to this kid and even to the uncles but other members don’t see that and its really to sad to see. I agree with the critics, that this is a good movie to watch and learn family’s values. Also they say it’s a good show on how family’s can become tight even if they don’t have a father or mother. Someone else can take that role in a child’s life! I personally give this a 9 out of 10 stars! This movie is good in many ways and is touching! In a guys kind of way that is! It makes you get to grasp of family and for me to want may family someday look like this! If you ever want a movie night, pick this one up, Secondhand Lions!
