I am reviewing the movie “Transformers”, a Michael Bay film that released in 2007. The movie starts with Shia LaBeouf being picked on in class for being nerdy and not having a car. He is working very hard for good grades so that his father will help pay for his first car. When he decides on a curious yellow junky Camero, his world is flipped upside down. He meets the girl of his dreams (Megan Fox) and is propelled into the middle of an intergalactic war of transforming robots which are fighting over the “Allspark”. The Allspark cannot fall into the hands of the “Decepticons”, or the bad guys, because they will use it to destroy earth. So the “Autobots”, or the good guys, have to find it first to save earth. It is a very action-packed movie with a decent storyline, but it’s mostly just crazy awesome special effects and fight scenes. Shia LaBeouf in my opinion is a very spot on actor for this character, slightly nerdy but with an adventurous side, which he portrays very well. Megan Fox, or the dream girl who is also a gear-head, was a much liked character in this movie by most of the guys who saw it, mostly because she’s good looking, but she does fit the role as well. As far as what the critics say, I would agree with Roger Ebert’s review except for the fact where he bashes the movie for having the ending fight scenes take far too long. In my opinion that’s what the movie is all about, super crazy drawn-out fight scenes with exploding buildings and transforming robots! As far as a theme, this movie wasn’t particularly created around one central theme, but just strictly a jaw-dropping action flick. Overall, this one of my favorite movies and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys high levels of extreme action, fighting, and robots.
