UP is a funny, cute, and sad movie that everyone can love. The film was directed by Pete Docter and Bob Petersen, the voices were Edward Asner, Jordan Nagai, and John Ratzenberger. The movie begins with a couple of kids who are going into this old rickety house to explore; they find a girl in the house exploring also, one of the two boys is our main character. Him and the girl begin exploring together, they start doing everything together, and they get married and grow old together, but she has recently passed away and now the grumpy, bitter old man Carl Fredricksen is alone in his house with all of his memories. He and his wife put together this book, about what they were going to do and where they were going to go but she had passed away before they got to fulfill their very last dream going to South America. In the next scene there is a knock on the door it is Russell a young wilderness explorer who is very nice and good hearted who is trying to get his help the elderly badge, but Carl does not want any help so he sets him on a journey he can never fulfill by telling him to find a Dodo bird, as Russell has been looking high and low for the bird, Carl has been collecting tons of balloons and he finally gets the last few that will bring his house to life, not knowing that Russell is still in his house looking for the bird he takes off on his very long journey to South America, and he is surprised to see Russell. They start getting low after days and days of traveling, and suddenly a balloon pops and they start going downward and more and more balloons get popped they see land, so they land the house and come to find out that is where he has been wanting to go, but life in paradise isn’t all that it seems, there is trouble about to come their way, to find out what happens to Carl and Russell you will need to watch the movie. The theme of this movie is pretty much doing what makes you happy and that friendship is always the best. The critics gave this film an 8.4 out of 10 and I agree because this is a great film with a lot of good values, when I first saw this film I thought it was going to be a kid’s film and yet after watching it I wanted to keep on watching it over and over again. I think it’s worth anyone’s time and money I mean I would buy it if I had any money, probably because this is one of the best animated films I have seen in my life.
