Whitechapel is a Metal band that formed in 2006. The band has a very gritty and hardcore feel that you will not find with other bands, thanks to Phil Bozeman, the lead singer. The reviews that I have read on albums were very low! Although, they are not as popular in the Midwest so that got them low reviews. My favorite album from them, This is Exile, is the most talented lyrical album in my opinion because it has that flow of things that anyone who is against certain rules can easily relate to. All of their albums include: Recorrupted, The somatic Defilement, This is Exile, and New era of Corruption, all evoke emotions of fear and take you inside the mind of someone who is going through life a loner and what his views are on people. Whitechapel compares to Suffokate, Canifex, and Suicide Silence as far as sound goes, because it is brutal, heavy, and their lyrics are always to the point. One lyric line that I have found memorable to me is from the song “Father of Lies”. The lyric goes: Forever read these words from my mouth, I will become the father of lies (he says it twice). This lyrics stands out because he is saying that He will lie his way through life and he needs no one but his mind to carry him to where he wants to be. He has to lie to get what he wants and he’ll do anything to make it. I do not agree at all with the critics, because I felt that they judge the music on its physical look/feel other than the music. Their albums all got in the mid three range and didn’t even hit a four on a five star scale. I think that if you like heavy music you should check them out. They bring something new in my mind every album they release. They have a new album coming out in June and I am looking forward to listening to that!
