The song I’m doing for this blog post is When I’m Gone by Wiz Khalifa, it is a hip hop track from his Roll Up album. The feel of this song is very classy and very chill, it’s the type of songs where you just want to lay back and listen to. The piano at the beginning makes it very classy; it kind of reminds me of Lose Your Self by Eminem. The beats of When I’m Gone is very slow and steady, therefore generates a very chill mood for listeners. Wiz Khalifa is very similar to Snoop Dogg in terms of style and what they rap about; which are girls and Champaign. As for their music, both produce laid back music such that is similar to When I’m Gone. In my opinion, the chorus has one of the best lines of lyrics in this song. “I'm gonna spend it all why wait for another day. I'ma take all this money I own and blow it all away. Cause I can't take it when I'm gone, gone, gone, gone. No I can't take it when I'm gone, gone, gone. I'm gonna spend it all why wait for another day. I'ma take all this money I own and blow it all away.” Within these lyrics, Wiz Khalifa is saying that he doesn’t live for money and he could die any day and can’t take all of the money with him, in other words, to live your life freely and never hang on to anything that you can’t take with you. According to Billboard.com, “Although Snoop Dogg's flow is effortless; the younger rapper's forceful, punchy delivery gets on top of the beat and harshes the mellow of the Smeezingtons' laid-back production.” That is true, they compare Snoop Dogg to Wiz Khalifa, and even though Snoop’s styles is chiller and relax, Wiz Khalifa is right behind him in styles. Overall, I highly recommend this song to anyone who likes rap music and is looking for a chill artist to listen to.
