Drake is a rapper, but a unique type of rapper because he sings and raps. But he is considered a Hip-Hop artist. The feel of his album Take Care is a mixture of everything; it’s fun and exciting, relaxing and also serious. This album was in the making for a really long time and people were really looking forward to seeing what he had made. In any good album there should be a good mix of different types of music, such as, club music, catchy songs and some rapping. One of my favorite songs off of the album is the self-title “Take Care” featuring Rihanna. “Take Care” talks about finding someone and you both want to be with each other but because of the past someone can’t trust the other person. And Rihanna’s chorus says “I know you’ve been hurt by someone else, I can tell by the way you carry yourself, if you let me here’s what I’ll do, I’ll take care of you.” It’s just kind of a nice feeling to know that someone out there is willing to be with you, even if you have been hurt, and you can trust them to know that they won’t hurt you. Drake isn’t really compared to many artists because what he does is very different, because he is considered a singer-rapper. And Drake is the only one that I know of that does this style of vocal work. But because of Drake, certain artists are mimicking his own style and it is becoming more popular. The song “Doing it Wrong” is memorable to me because it is just one of my favorite songs and it talks about breaking up and getting back together, not because you want to but simply because you can’t see yourself with anyone else. I tend to disagree with the critics from Rolling Stone because he was pretty negative about the album, and all that Drake does is talk about how much his life sucks. Which isn’t true because in this certain review, he does pick out the more sad songs of the album. He could have talked about the more upbeat song “The Motto” or “Make Me Proud” but he didn’t so that’s why I disagree with his review. For an overall review, yes I think that Drake and his new album Take Care are defiantly worth your time and money. Because he is something different, an artist that sings and raps. If R&B or Hip-Hop isn’t your thing, maybe it could be with Drake. You never know till you try right?
