Hot Chelle Rae is a pop-rock group that comes out of Nashville. Their latest album Whatever, released on November 29, 2011, was a huge success. The album leaves the listener feeling a mixture of emotions. Most of the songs on the album are very upbeat and make you want to dance. The songs on the album like “I Like it Like That,” “Tonight Tonight,” and “Whatever” are fun and upbeat. Although there are not really any songs on the album that are depressing, there are a few songs that are of a more serious nature such as “Why Don’t You Love Me?” and “The Only One.” Overall, most songs on the album are not meant to be taken seriously but rather they are just meant to be enjoyed. Since Hot Chelle Rae is a pop-rock group they can easily be compared to many bands that consist of a group of male musicians. Such groups could include: All Star Weekend, The Downtown Fiction, Big Time Rush, and One Direction. They all have similar sounds with upbeat pop music with catchy lyrics that make you want to sing along. The song on the album that has some memorable lyrics is “Whatever.” The part of the song I enjoy is, “Hey, hey, life ain't fair, three in the air if you just don't care, hey, hey, life ain't fair, three in the air if you don't care.” It is saying no matter how bad things get you just need to shrug it off, not take everything so seriously, and relax. These lyrics help the listeners relate because it shows us that everyone has problems you just have to be able to deal with them. I agree with all the critics. They all mention how talented the artists are and how they belong in the industry. I also agree that the collaborations on the album helped to reach a broader variety of listeners. Overall, Hot Chelle Rae is worth your time and money. They are a band that has very catchy and upbeat songs that make you want to sing along. They are a lot of fun to listen to and are all very talented.
