Train is a pop rock group of three. Train has a lot of ethnic feeling music to it that is very catchy and nice. Their songs usually have a happy and light feeling to them. Some of their recent music is upbeat and fun like one of their best hits “Hey Soul Sister” while some of their other songs from the past are lighter and not as upbeat such as “Drops of Jupiter”. But, all of their songs have a feel good mood to them. Some might compare Train to other groups such as Maroon 5. Although Maroon also plays pop music, Train has a more authentic feel to their songs. Train uses many different instruments and has a unique feel to their music that makes it very enjoyable. Some of Train’s songs have very memorable lyrics to them. One of my favorite songs by train is “Drops of Jupiter” and here are some lyrics that are unique and make a good match with the instrumentals along with it,
Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey
Train uses many different types of similes and play on words in their lyrics that make the song very memorable. Their lyrics are sometimes very hard to unveil, which only makes their music more enjoyable. An article about one of trains songs written by Pat Monahan, Espen Lind and Amund Bjorkland says “ "Drive By" starts with a staccato guitar strum and a percussive thump that certainly recalls its predecessor, with a slight ethnic flavor, then turns to smooth pop singing for the choruses.” I agree with this because I think that they do have ethnicity to their music which makes it that much better. The music can start off one way, change to a next, and end with something else, but still flow along every note. Overall, I think that Train is a great group to listen to because it has a lot of unique flavor to their music and lyrics. They have also done really well with their songs and feel that they have many different qualities about them that make them great and memorable.
