A music artist I always enjoyed listening to is Wiz Khalifa. A hip hop artist whose popularity grew quickly. He signed to Atlantic Records. He also has his own group called Taylor Gang. One song that most say put him on the map “Black and Yellow”. A hit dedicated to his home town of Pittsburgh where he lived all his life. He has done many mix tapes like Deal or No Deal and Flight School. He recently made an album called Rolling Papers. The album sold 191,777 in the first week out. One of the hit songs is “Till I’m Gone” he talks about how he didn’t forget the people that helped him get to where he is. One of the lyrics is “when I go shopping I tell pick one, cause they were with me when nobody seen the vision”. I would compare him to another hip hop artist Big Sean. They both rap about the same thing and ideas. They both became known around the same time, and make much song with each other. I agree with what critics say about him. They all say that he introduced a new aspect to hip hop. He made the city of Pittsburgh be known for something other than a sports team. And they also say that he basically got where he was by doing his own thing. Back then he never really made songs with big time rappers. Drake a young money artist invited Wiz to open up for him on a tour. Wiz turned down the offer and did his own tour which was a great success. He tells his fans to do the same, not to rely on someone to do everything for you, that you’re better off doing things on your own . That’s the main reason why I like his music. It’s worth your time to check him out, and listen to some songs.
