In the movie Gran Torino directed by Clint Eastwood, Walt Kowalski who is played by Clint Eastwood is a Korean War veteran who is also a grumpy and racist old man who does not get along with his children or neighbors. The only thing Walt has is his 1972 Gran Torino which he keeps in mint condition. One day his neighbor Thao a Hmong teenager played by Bee Vang, is pressured by his gang member cousin to break into Walt’s garage and steal his Gran Torino. Walt sets out to set the boy straight and gains an interest in his family’s lifestyle. Walt spends his time protecting his family from the gangs in the neighborhood. Clint Eastwood does a great job playing and old racist man due to the fact that he looks like an old racist man, and can usually play a tough-minded character any time the opportunity is given. Thao is a young and quiet kid, who is pushed around a lot. His sister Sue played by Ahney Her is a smart, very mature girl for her age. She tries to lead her brother right but their cousin keeps pushing him into the gang life. In the movie, people realize that no matter how old or how set people are on their opinions, their thoughts could still change. Like in the movie, Walt is a racist old man but throughout the movie he eventually changes his opinion to instead of hating the whole race itself he only started to hate the bad eggs out of that race. All the critics are saying that Gran Torino is a remarkable movie and I agree with them, it is one of my favorite movies and will always be. Gran Torino is an All-American favorite movie and if you’re planning on watching a movie, I would greatly recommend this movie.
