One of my favorite artists/rappers is Wiz Khalifa however that is not his actually name his birth name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz. Wiz Khalifa was born on September 8th, 1987 in Minot, North Dakota. Starting out from birth he was raised up in a military family. When he was just three years old, his parents got divorced and he moved around quite a bit due to their military services. He traveled all around the world during his younger years, he moved from Germany, to England, to Japan and he finally ended up finishing high school in Pittsburgh where he decided to live. A lot of people don’t know this but when Wiz Khalifa first started out that was not his stage name, his stage name was Wisdom Khalifa. However that does have to do with his name now though because he just shortened wisdom to wiz. Fresh out of high school Wiz Khalifa tried taking the world on. He released his first mixtape in 2005 and called it “Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania.” This mixtape was quickly accepted by local radio stations and his name began to grow even outside of Pittsburgh. Soon after that mixtape was dropped he released “Show and Prove” which some people today argue that it was the best album of the year. He began signing with companies such as XXL, Rolling Stone, and VIBE. Warner Bros. Records soon followed after that. Just a year after that he dropped a studio album called “Show and Prove.” Due to his one single “Say Yeah” Rolling Stone declared the artist to watch. That same year, he parted with Warner Bros. Records but ended up signing right after that with another huge record company, Atlantic Records. In 2010, Wiz Khalifa was named MTV’s No. 1 Hottest Breakthrough MC of the year. Wiz Khalifa is known for constantly finding new ways to rap about the usual subjects. His music appeals to people such as stoners, backpackers, hipsters, and haters.
