Tech N9ne is a hip-hop/rap artist from Kansas City, Missouri and the leader of the #1 independent music label in the world called Strange Music. He calls his label this because when Tech was starting out as a rap artist he would get denied from record companies because his lyrics and message was too “strange”. Tech’s success has been due to his creative style in rap and his message along with his talent to rap incredibly fast and still be understood. His real name is Aaron Yates but adopted the stage name Tech N9ne when one of his old producers bragged that he could rap as fast as the fully automatic machine gun the Tec-9 could shoot. Tech has actually incorporated this into a 00:23 second song called “Stamina” where he raps while an automatic gun fires in the background. Why I listen to Tech N9ne is because most main-stream rap artists talk only about how much money they have and how many cars they bought, how they buy out bars every night and have to find new places to put all the diamonds they buy. All they talk about is spending money and since I’m not exactly driving a Mercedes Benz I can’t really relate to their songs. But Tech raps about more than money he talks about family life how much he owes his mother for raising him by herself and working all the time to put food on the table. He also talks about the music industry like in one of his hit songs “The Industry is Punks” he rants about how he’s made records and the music labels wouldn’t pay him for his music saying that it didn’t sell when it did and they would keep the money. A lot of Tech N9nes old tracks and mix tapes aren’t available because the labels would just throw them away. The album that really got Tech big was his first label with J-Core “The Calm Before the Storm” produced by Don Juan. The song “Mitch Bade” topped charts all across Kanas City and got him recognized as one of the more talented rappers in Missouri. This was Techs first big step into the industry but also made him an enemy within his own circle. Techs producer Don Juan kept money from sale instead of giving them to Tech. Frustrated with Don Juan and Music Labels in general Tech started his own independent label, Strange Music, and produced his own albums the first being “Absolute Power” where in one of his songs “Yada, Yada, Yada” he disses Don Juan and J-Core on being all talk and backstabbers to him. Tech N9ne also brought some of his friends on his label including Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, Jay Rock, Brotha Lynch Hung, Cognito, Stevie Stone, Mayday, and Cres Cru. With his Record Label doing well he began to focus again on his music and released what is known as his best album to date “All 6’s and 7’s” which sold millions of copies within the first couple hours it was released. Artistdirect.com raves “Insanity has never been as infectious as it is on Tech N9ne's new masterpiece, All 6's and 7's. It's a dark, deep, and diverse exercise in musical murder that sees Tech completely surpass his peers and grasp hip hop supremacy once and for all. After one listen to All 6's and 7's, it's clear that rap is Tech's game.” Tech N9ne is one of the more talented artists in the rap game right now so instead of buying the same old lyrics to a different beat try something new, something better, try Tech N9ne.
