In October of 2000, the movie “Pay It Forward” was released starring Haley Joel Osment (Trevor), Helen Hunt (Arlene) and Kevin Spacey (Eugene). The theme of the movie seems to be helping someone in need, by doing something that they wouldn’t necessarily be able to do for themselves. Trevor Mckinney, the main characters goal in life is to make the world a better place after his teacher gives him an assignment. Trevor really took the assignment seriously and wanted to do everything he could to make things better by “paying it forward” meaning every person he helped, they would have to help three more people and the cycle would never stop. Trevor is growing up with an alcoholic mother and his father seems to not be in the picture and only being 11 years old he seems to be extremely smart and know what is right from wrong. He seems to be the one taking care of his own mother and try to teach her what is right; I mean how can someone who is only 11 know better than his own mother? Online on imdb.com one review said “Pay It Forward is a prime example of what films are supposed to do: make you laugh a little, cry a lot, and profoundly affect you in a way that keeps you thinking about the movie for weeks afterwards.” I couldn’t explain the movie any better than this person did because that is exactly what the movie has to offer. Also how they said it keeps you thinking for weeks after is totally right! The movie brings forth so much passion that there is no way it could be one of those movies you just forget about! I don’t think there could have been any better characters chosen to play in this film; Haley Joel Osment plays as an 11 year old boy and does a phenomenal job of getting the message across to the audience. I would definitely recommend this movie to all my friends and family it is one of my top favorites!
