Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, an adventure film recently released 2011, considered to be the top 100 films between five years. The role of the main character, Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp is a famous captain around the waters that circle the lands of this film. The story goes as Cpt. Jack Sparrow embarks on a journey to the fountain of youth. He meets Unfortunately he is not the only pirate on the seas. Captain Barbossa, played by Geoffrey Rush is also hot on the tail representing the British, but in earlier times he was a former captain. Cpt. Jack Sparrow runs into an old girlfriend Angelica played by Penelope Cruz. He later realizes that she is the daughter of Black Beard himself. Soon Sparrow is captured and enslaved on black beards ship “The Queen Anne’s Revenge”. So throughout the movie the three captains are in search for the mystical and elusive fountain of youth. A type of theme this film would be fit for is adventurous, or going after what you believe in. As Cpt. Jack Sparrow the audience has grown to know what type of person he is. In the movie critics rave that though it was an exponential film I lacked time, it was the shortest compared to all the other sequels, says Peter Travers of Rolling Stone. It’s probably because of the new director that replaced Jerry Bruckheimer with new director Rob Marshall. I agree that it was shorter but overall it was a great movie filled with almost everything that was in its past films. My overall opinion on the movie is that it was great, spectacular, and memorable in many ways. I saw it in 3D so it made it a lot better. It’s one of those films where you can just sit back and know what to expect without knowing what to expect. So of course it’s worth your time and money if you want to remember one great movie experience.

  1. Movie Blog Response to Arop M: By Kadri Plott

I would have to agree with Arop for choosing this amazing character driven movie. This Movie focuses on the ideals of being a pirate and the journey that awaits a pirate. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stanger Tides is definitely the best out of the previous 3 Pirates of the Caribbean films. Many critics has disagreed with this movie saying it was either too long or lacking a story, but I would have to disagree because this film tops all the films especially with the new director you mention, Rob Marshall. Secondly I would have to agree with you Arop about the amazing acting constantly performed by Johnny Depp’s role as Captain Jack Sparrow. He is consistently improving his performances and has received many great reviews from critics, without Johnny Depp, the Pirates of the Caribbean series would not be the same. Overall Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is by far one of the best Pirates of The Caribbean movies released, and one of the best movies released in 2011. In the movie throughout there is great acting, interesting characters, a strong character-driven story line, a lot of action, and amazing special effects. The new Director, Rob Marshall, had definitely taken his time with this movie and it shows throughout the film. If I had to recommend this film to anyone it would be to those action and adventure seekers out there who would enjoy a bit of comedy here and there. The movie is also available in 3D, which gives you even more of the “Pirate” experience throughout the movie. So next time you want to check out a new movie, even if you haven’t seen any of the previous films, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the way to go.
