Dumb and Dumber is an instant classic that involves plenty of laughs throughout the movie! This film is about how two best friends are living in the bad part of a neighborhood and make just enough money to get by. Lloyd Christmas, played by Jim Carrey, plays the role of a limousine driver that transports passengers to the airport. One day a woman forgot her briefcase and they have to return it, but not without a few roadblocks of course! Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) is just a riot, and he is definitely in his prime in this production! Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) plays his counterpart and is always optimistic, but Lloyd has a way that always gets on his nerves, until they find out that they have the same goals, and look on how to take down this briefcase mission. Lauren Holly (Mary Swanson) is the woman who left her briefcase and is a little shy and quiet, but very appreciative throughout the film. All of these characters are very good at their role and fit the stereotype that they really are ‘dumb’. Except for Mary of course! Harry and Lloyd’s motivations are off the charts. They both strive to make it to Aspen, Colorado where Mary is located, but you will have to find out if they make it or not! Every single thing that happens to them, they see a way past that and continue on. The smarts that they do have are very dry humor, though. Some scenes tend to be a bit dry and dull, but the humor still gets you, because yes, it is just that dumb. The theme in this movie would have to be will power and do not lose your sense of humor. The way that they think everything is funny and nothing can really get them down as the film goes on, you have to just laugh through hard times, because in the end everything will be OK. The Audience will take away that friendship, hard work, and determination will go a long way! I disagree HUGELY with Robert Ebert. He only gave this film a two star. Come on now, let’s be real, this movie has everyone laughing! I mean who doesn’t like Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as a team and how they work their way through it?! My opinion is I would give this movie a 4.5/5* rating because like I said, some was dry and predictable of what they would do, but I can watch this over and over and it never really gets old! Go see it, and it you have, see it again!
