The Harry Potter series is a very popular series around the world. The movies in this series are based on the seven Harry Potter novels written by J. K. Rowling. Harry Potter is an orphaned boy who finds out he is a wizard and decides to attend Hogwarts School. Harry Potter meets two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, in his first year at Hogwarts and continues to be best friends with them throughout the rest of the series. Each year at Hogwarts, Harry and his friends face a new problem and continually run into Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry’s parents and is now trying to kill Harry. The movies/books in this series are: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011). The main actors and actresses in these films are Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. I think each of the actors and actresses were the perfect people for each of their roles. I don’t think there could have been anyone better to do the job. Harry Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe, is a brave, courageous, but kind-hearted young man who is very determined to continually save the day. Ron Weasley, played by Rupert Grint, is a dim-witted, humorous young man who seems to accidentally help save the day several times. He acts as Harry’s “sidekick.” Hermione Granger, played by Emma Watson, is an extremely intelligent, witty girl who is the brains of the operation in the films. I don’t think there are any main themes in this series, but it focuses on magical power and being determined to do what you think is right and help others. Many critics have also fallen in love with these movies, and I couldn’t agree more. Several critics may have not been in favor of these movies, but almost all of the other critics were positive in their reviews of these movies. Overall, I definitely think the films in the Harry Potter series are worth our time and money because they have an interesting plot, will keep anyone and everyone entertained, and will continue to be popular for years to come.
