The Blind Side is one of my absolute favorite movies. This movie came out in 2009 and was very popular soon after its release. It is a sports drama film. This movie is a story of a large, African-American teenage boy, Michael Oher, who grows up in poverty and doesn’t have a very good life. He grew up being neglected by his mother and never got an education. On the other side of town, there is a very wealthy white family, who drives past Michael, walking alone in the rain at night. The family pulls over and invites Michael into their home to help him out for the night. The family soon becomes very attached to Michael and gives him an education, his own bedroom, clothes, and a car for his birthday. They sign him up for the football team, and eventually find that he is a very talented player. The family ends up adopting Michael and becoming a real family. They help him through school and picking out a college. The main characters are Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Lily Collins, Jae Head, and Quinton Aaron. I definitely think that this is one of Sandra Bullock’s best movies she’s acted in, and she won several awards for her performance. The character of Michael Oher is a very shy, polite young man. He always uses good manners, doesn’t expect anything from others, and is a hard worker. Leigh Anne Tuohy, the mother of the family, is a straightforward woman, who doesn’t take orders from anyone. She is motherly and loving, but she’s still somewhat stern. She always works for the good of others and puts others first. I think the theme of this movie is to be happy with what you have. There are so many other people in the world whose lives are so much harder than ours, so we need to be thankful for how lucky and blessed we are. I would agree with Joe Leydon’s critique that The Blind Side is an uplifting, feel-good movie that will entertain the whole family. I 100% think this movie is worth our time and money. It’s a movie your whole family will love, and who doesn’t love a movie with a happy ending? This movie is very entertaining and fact-based, with an intriguing plot and great actors.
