One of my favorite artists is Taylor Swift. She’s an amazing country singer that has many songs that many teenage girls can easily relate to. She evokes feelings pertaining to love songs to having boyfriend troubles. She talks about mixed feelings that a teenage girl would realistically have instead of the classic perfect couple falling in love. Compared to Shania Twain, Taylor Swift and she have many similarities and differences. Such as both Taylor Swift and Shania Twain write and sing their own music. They write about being in love but yet Shania Twain writes more about what it’s like to be in love whereas Taylor writes more about what it’s like to love from afar or how things can’t/don’t work out between the two. Two of Taylor’s songs that stand out to me are “Picture to Burn” and “You Belong with Me,” because they’re two complete opposites and she sings so boldly about two situations that happen to many teenage girls. To start off with, “Picture to Burn” is about how she has a boyfriend who has dumped her and went around telling lies to his friends about her. My next favorite song of hers is “You Belong with Me” because it shows her wanting a boy who has a crush on another girl yes she knows she’d be better for him. I like this song because you can understand where she’s coming from in this song because either you’ve had a situation like this or have had a friend who has been through this situation before. All of Taylor’s songs are catchy and make many want to sing along with her lyrics. Even if you don’t like Taylor, it’s hard to stop yourself from singing along to her catchy lyrics. Many critics believe that after Kanye West’s interruption during the MTV Video Music Awards about Beyonce Knowles, Taylor has now gotten more popular. Critics love Taylor and her popularity has showed it. I believe that Taylor is worth everyone’s time and money, because everyone can relate to her, not just teenage girls.
