Knaan is hands down one of the most unique rappers I know. He is first of all Somali and you don’t find much of that now and days. Great thing about Knaan is he doesn’t stick to one genre he has done hip hop, unabashed pop, metal, and most importantly he is known for his poetry. Critics have said K'naan has "a sound that fuses Bob Marley, conscious American hip hop, and brilliant protest poetry.” His voice and style are a lot like Eminem’s but the message is way different. K’naan usually expresses the troubles back in his homeland Somalia and is trying to give the message to stop the violence and bloodshed. In his song people like me is a slow song with strong words about the people like him (Somali) and in the song he gets emotional talk about leaving a cousin of his in the war. As you look at the lyrics you will notice he has a good sense of rhyming and that there is a message in his songs. Most of the reviews talk about how good knaan is and how his songs mean something so I do agree with them because I feel the same and by his songs he really inspires me. In my opinion no one is greater than knaan he is hands down the best and his songs are not about getting high or drunk its bout struggles he went through just like Tupac did and that’s why knaan in my opinion is better than this generations rappers, singers, or poets.

Nice blog, but Knaan?! WHO IS THAT?!?! Never heard of him and I don't think i ever want to because he doesn't seem like the great type of rapper that would contribute like Lil Wayne, T-Pain, or Drake. But i will give him some credit for doing unabashed pop, metal, and poetry. I haven't heard his music so i don't really know if he sounds lil Bob Marley or not. I really disagree that Knaan would match anything up to Tupac or any other great artists of this generation. Is there any other singers, groups, or rappers that you like, or is this the only one? Because i consider you to look up some others and you will find better music in them. Semir B.
