Kelly Clarkson is a pop/ hip-hop kind of girl. She is also the type to rely on herself and not ask for help, especially from men, examples of this can be found throughout her lyrics. Like in "Since U Been Gone" she sings "You had your chance, you blew it out of sight, out of mind" talking about how easy it is to forget the boy. Most of her songs invoke the emotions anger, sadness, or strength. The song "Never Again" involes all three, part of the lyrics go "Does it hurt to know I'll never be there bet it sucks to see my face everywhere it was you who chose to end it like you did". Those words have anger and sadness in them, the stength come in at the chorus when she sings "Never again will I kiss you, never again will I want to, never again will I love you, never!" In a few she talks about times she's been hurt and what that felt like. A lot of the critics say her songs are very repetitive and the melodies are very similar. In that area I agree, she very rarely changes up the emotions or the type of story told by her lyrics. Overall however I enjoy her music, it talks about feelings and reactions that most people don't show in public or to anyone. This music would be very good for someone that needs help on getting over something or feeling their real emotions. Kelly Clarkson is also a very inspiring figure. She didn't start out with money or in the music world. She fought her way to the top in American Idol and is one of the few winners of that show that became famous and well-known for their singing. Her story has a true fairy tale ending that anyone would love to have. Kelly songs will continue to help young people feel better about themselves no matter how repetitive the words, themes, or melody's are. I would really suggest checking out her music and seeing how it makes you feel.
