Guest Blogger: Robert Movie 2

The Pursuit of Happiness. Main actor is Will Smith he plays a character name Chris Gardner. The setting is in San Francisco, 1981. The movie starts off with Chris being a struggling salesman of these medical machines. He is on the line of poverty because he invested all his money in these machines, and there not selling. He is struggling to provide for his family. His son which name is also Chris Gardner, that part is played by Will Smith’s real son Jaden Smith. His wife Linda Gardner, which is played by Thandie Newton. His wife is a struggling waitress, that is getting fed up with her family’s current lifestyle and that gets her and her husband into many arguments. This movie is based on poverty and bad economic positions but it shows you that you’re not the only one that has it bad and some people have it worse then you and they stay preserver so you should do the same. It really motivates you is my opinion. The acting by Will smith was past amazing. He puts heart, soul, and drive into every line, every scene like he is really living that lifestyle. I think Will Smith did the best out of all of them. I think little Jaden Smith did the second best between the three cause as a child I say it is harder to act and stay serious just because you have the mindset of a child, but his acting is similar to his fathers. He could have done better with the fake laughter, I think. Thandie Newton did great but I honestly liked her better in crash but she kind of plays the same kind of part as that movie I just think this performance didn’t need so much drama and some points in the movie I think she should have approached certain scenes differently. Chris Gardner’s motivation is the same as his Wife’s . . . just to make it out of the lifestyle there in. This theme in this movie I think is that don’t give up and keep at it no matter the situation, and that’s what I think everybody should take away from this film. I do agree with the critics because most of them or positive. My overall opinion is that it is a “have to see” movie. Because I think you can really learn something from this movie.
