Guest Blogger: Larisa Movie 2
Well many of you(girls), I’m sure have seen the movie dear john starring Channing Tatum. In the movie Tatum plays a young solider boy named john. John and Savannah (played by Amanda Seyfried) fall in love in just two weeks whole he was on leave and she was on college break. While they both return to their previous locations, they keep in touch by writing each other letter. They write to each other on how they and what they are doing, but like my father says, “distant love is for dummies”. later in the movie they end up becoming distant, well more her with him. She stops writing him for a couple of months then finally when john received a letter from her she writes to him that she’s leaving him and she’s moved on. You see throughout the movie how they’re relationship developed then how it ended up going down hill. I’m my opinion Channing Tatum and Amanda seyfried played there parts really well. Tatum plays a soldier and that’s a good role for him because he looks good in the army suit! Amanda also does a good job playing her part as the waiting girlfriend who just finally moves on and was tired of being alone. I haven’t read the book the movie is based off but other critics say that the movie is weightless and the relationship between john and savannah is not the same in the movie as it is in the book. Critics have said that the movie Dear John was a perfunctory weepie, a determinedly uninteresting, sanded down, prettied -up adaption of the novel, they rated it a C+ but I think the movie at least deserved a B+ because I know many people who went to go see it and they liked it a lot. Not everyone has read the book so they wont know the difference between the movie and the book, as long as the audience likes it then it was a good movie.
