Guest Blogger: Brandon Movie 2
This was a low-budget movie that was originally released to just 13 college towns. But word quickly spread about this creepy movie, that it was later released to the rest of the country. The movie is about a young couple, Micah and Katie, that decide to try to further their knowledge on the paranormal happenings that they had been experiencing in their home. So they go out and get a video camera to set up at night to record, and hopefully find some solid evidence. They also bring in a psychic, who recommends that they seek further professional help. But Micah, who is kind of mad that Katie decided until after they moved in together to tell him about this “ghost” that has been following her, her entire life, thinks that he can get the spirit to leave them alone on his own. Throughout the movie, he constantly calls out to the entity, provoking it, which just makes things worse. The movie is made, to look like it was shot entirely by his camera, so the characters had to make it seem like a real, homemade movie. I think the actors did a very good job of this, and the movie does seem like something that any individual off the street could have shot. The movie’s #1 purpose was to scare people, which it succeeded at. I think a message that can be taken from the movie is to make sure you know everything about someone before you go and move in together, because it’s good to know exactly what you are getting yourself into. Movie critics everywhere raved that this was one of the scariest movies ever made, and gave it a very high rating. It’s hard to not give props to such a low-budget movie that had the success that they did. I also thought that it was a great movie, with suspenseful moments that leave you scratching your head. I personally loved the movie, and think it is well worth the money.
