Guest Blogger: Brandon Movie 1

The Blind Side is a movie about Michael Oher’s life growing up and in high school he learns to play football because of his tremendous size and strength, and eventually developing his skills enough to get him into a great college on a football scholarship. It shows the struggles of growing up in poverty, as his mom can’t afford to raise him, so he would live on the streets. That’s when a rich family, played by Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw, invite him to come live with them, and welcome him into their life as a part of the family.
Michael Oher is played by Quinton Aaron, who I think did a great job playing the “gentle giant” in the movie. I tend to think that it is more difficult to act as a character telling a story about a real person’s life, rather than a fictional character’s. But I think he did a great job. Tim McGraw was the father of the family that welcomes Michael into their home. He did a great job of showing how dad’s in real life push their children to success. McGraw’s father played in the big leagues with the Phillies, so he probably knew first hand about father’s pushing their sons in athletics. Finally, I think Sandra Bullock’s part as the loving mother that originally came up with the idea of bringing Michael into the house, and she did it perfectly. I think she was perfect for the part.
This movie was made to show that no matter how rough your childhood is, you can always rise above to success if you set your mind to it. Critics seemed to think that the movie was very inspirational, and did a great job of showing his life story. I must agree. I thought this was one of the best movies of all time, and well worth your money.
