Guest Blogger: Rachinna Movie 1

Based on a true story, The Blind Side is an inspirational movie that is driven by the characters and their motivation in life. There are several main characters in the movie, but the storyline revolves around Leigh Anne Tuohy and Michael Oher. Sandra Bullock plays Leigh Anne Touhy in The Blind Side and does a phenomenal job at portraying her. Sandra Bullock was named “Best Actress” and won an Oscar for her performance as Leigh Anne Touhy. In the movie, Leigh Anne Touhy is a wealthy woman who brings home a less fortunate boy named Michael Oher played by Quinton Aaron. Leigh Anne is determined to help Michael graduate from high school, pursue a dream of playing football, and further is education in college. When Michael met Leigh Ann for the first time, he was intimidated by Leigh Anne’s strong personality. Leigh Anne is the type of woman who does not take ‘No’ as an answer and loves helping others. Michael has the complete opposite personality compared to Leigh Anne; he is more reserved and shy. Growing up in the ghetto of Memphis, Michael was not exposed too much of an education. So, when Leigh Anne takes Michael under her wings, she learned about his educational disability. Leigh Anne was determined to help Michael achieve in high school, so she hired a tutor for Michael. Michael expressed his interest for football, but knew he would not be eligible to play to play because of his grade. With the help of Leigh Anne and his personal tutor, Michael was able to play football for this high school. Throughout his high school football season, Michael was scouted out by several Division 1 colleges to play football. Will the pressure of meeting everyone’s standards around him finally tear Michael apart or will he be determined to meet everyone’s expectation? Find out by watching the The Blind Side. The theme of this movie is the aspiration of a young man to become somebody in life with the guidance of a stranger who later becomes his family. Entertainment Weekly rates this movie with a “C.” I disagree with this rating and think this movie should be rated a “B.” Sure this movie is just like any other family oriented movie, but it is actually true and based on a real story unlike other movies that are made up by a writer. I would definitely recommend this movie to people because it has won 5 out of its 14 nominations. This movie is no longer in theater, but is able to be rented for $1 at the Redbox. So spending $1 and 2 hours of your day to watch The Blind Side is worth the time and money.
